Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

Don't. It's poison.

I have taken about a dozen various run of the mill anti-depressants over the years. Maybe some minimal side effects, but I honestly hardly even noticed them. My one month experience with Viibryd has been a nightmare. This med is AWFUL.

Okay so I started on Viibryd at the end of Sept 2014. At first it was like a miracle drug and I gelt wonderful this was on the 20mg.....then as I increased to the 40mg I started falling asleep even at time I should have which caused some embarrassment for me. So I contacted my dr and she informed me to try it a little longer so I did. It has been about 2 mos now and I have been on the 40mg and it is awful.....I have been experiencing pain in arm, leg everywhere like I have been beat.....so I go to the dr and they ran some lab to see if I have inflammation which is a ANA diagnostic and I did it came back positive so now they are wanting to send me to a Rheumatologist to see if I have Lupus.....so the dr recommended one more diagnostic and again the ANA came back positive.....so she scheduled me to see a Rheumatologist at the end of Dec.....so here I am scared to death that I have this disease.....but not one of my doctors think it is this Viibryd.....I contact my dr and say I think this med is to much for me and I would like to get off of it......she drops me down to 20mg but still not a sole is believing me that it could be this Viibryd....so I have decided that I am getting off this med and if this is how I am going to feel being on a anxiety pill then I don't ever want to be on one again.....so still no one believes me so I start doing my own research and realize that this med have caused joint pain, bone inflammation and more.....so to me this is why the ANA has come back positive but again no one else thinks so.......so I have decided I am not going to a Rheumatologist and I am not taking this med ever again once I get off of it....help has this happened to anyone else?????? Last week I started having these off the wall crazy dreams almost like I was hallucinating and that is what did it for me I hate this drug.......I may be the 2-3% experiencing this but this is awful I would not recommend this to anyone and this is only being on it for a few months. Just looking for some advice please.........

Amanda, get off of the Viibyrd! I started to take that drug (from the VAMC) back in July 2014 and it induced lupus. Private doctor ran diagnostics (sept 2014) and proved that the lupus was caused by Viibyrd.

I started this drug almost 2 months ago; titrating up to 40mg as of today. The drug is not for me. It starts up good, then some down days... Then better and then about a week ago I started getting a morning tear or two... Some thoughts of suicide which is still on and off. I'm starting to get off slowly now as I RESTART my cymbalta; which with more side effects Does The Job! Will add more of the latter and decrease the former over next few weeks. I've never had luck with ssri drugs. I need the norepinephrine combo to hit it right for me. In retrospect, not sure why I changed (weight fluctuation a bit with cymbalta.. But not a lot) if it's not broken don't fix it!

I feel your pain. This s*** is POISON! I started taking it mid-August 2014. Within 2 weeks i started to develop a rash around my mouth. Went back into my doctor, he prescribed a steroid cream & called it eczema. Throughout the fall the rash persisted. Went back to dr and told him i suspected the viibryd was causing it. Naturally he didn't agree. 3 weeks ago i realized that the rash would subside somewhat at night and not be as inflamed in the mornings when i got up, but about 3 hours after taking the Viibryd my face would be on fire. Stopped taking it cold turkey when i realized that it was triggering somewhat of an allergic reaction. Fully aware of the warnings not to stop suddenly and i certainly don't recommend it, but i simply could not make myself consume one more of those pills of poison. Withdrawals didn't hit too bad until about 72 hours after taking it the last time. Then the s*** hit the fan. I've never been so sick physically, mentally and emotionally. Physically devastating, nausea, vertigo, headache, loss of motor skills and the worst flashes of psychotic twisted pictures in my head. Seriously, things that i've never seen before. Kept telling myself that this is a chemical reaction that will pass. This poison has triggered a major inflammatory response flareup in my body. Any kind of smells, soaps, irritant of any kind makes my whole body respond with a heated "flush", and racing heart. No "medicine" or "cure" should be this physically devastating from NOT taking it.

I've been on vibryd since May and have noticed a huge amount of hair loss. I've waited this long because I had minor surgery in May and thought it was the anestia. I doubt that is now since its 10 months later. Have appt with dr tomorrow to switch my medicine. I do have to say I feel great on the vibryd though. So I'm hoping there is something that is comparable. Anyone else?

Hi Garagecat. I too have been experiencing severe hair loss from Viibryd. I began noticong it at the 4 month mark. I am not taking any other meds and have no other health issues...had thyroid checked not long ago. Hair is CONSTANTLY FALLING FROM THE ROOT. my hairdresser can not understand what has caused this in such a short time. She estimates I have lost 40% of my once thick mane within 4 weeks! I don't know what to do to stop it. I will be bald soon. I have weaned off the Viibryd over the course of 6 weeks. I think the hairloss worsened considerably while weaning off the viibryd. Anyone offer advice on how to stop it? I'm considering starting Rogaine since I dont want to be bald at 42 years old. This is horrible. please help if you have any info. I'm so sorry I tried this medication. I reported to the FDA but cannot figure out how to report to Forest Laboratories. People and DOCTORS need to be aware of this.

I just started this sample pack, i have become more scared reading all of the post on here. i have been reading for two day all the comments and to tell you the truth my hope was way down. after reading the post before this one i looked up to the wall and thought hopeless and like i should give up. but then you said it works different in different ppl, to be my own judge. i am on all the same medication as you are but i do take ambien to help me sleep cause i had panic attacks at night. i took the 10mg with dinner last night (fat food and lots of calories-mcdonalds) i went to bed and around 1:30 i woke up with a panic attack, i dont know if from reading all this or a side effect for me but i will take it again tonight. i just wish there was more success storys on here. but maybe its because they are doing so well they dont need to look up information...anyhow...i am stress and scared and hopeless...

the reason I stopped this medication was that after 6 weeks, not a great response, but ok.enough response. One morning I woke up in a thrash....had not had a panic attack in 30 years. I cut down week by week and went back to cymbalta. You're symptoms sound like you need either cymbalta or maybe...wellbutrin. The best ever for me and many others was Nefazadone....some liver problems (miniscule) going on with it so generic is only available. (stupidly banned in Europe...read up on it as its available) I might try it again.

I have been on so many medications over the years. In my high school years I had alot of performance and test anxiety. I had alot of focusing issues. Reading was hard for me. I had to work hard to get the grades I did. I had to read things over and over again because I couldn't focus on them more than a few minutes. I could run a 4:30 mile but I could not do it in a meet. I would throw up and go to the bathroom alot before a meet. The anxiety was so much I could hardly run in a meet. After highschool I came down with mono and almost died. After that every time I would run I would get sick so I started lifting weights. I did a lot of power lifting. I gained alot of weight. Physically I was growing, but mentally I was becoming depressed. I becomed so depressed my life didnt have meaning anymore. I began sleeping 20 hours a day. I couldn't seem to do anything I was numb to the world. Suicidal thoughts rained supreme in my mind. Deep in my mind there was a light so dimmly lit but it was still lit. I put myself in the hospital for six days. Thats when they put me on five different medications. I was in college at the time I kept falling asleep in class so instead of reducing the medication. The dr prescribed me ritalin to keep me awake. I realized that I had to do something about it. The wife and I ended up moving to a different part of the state because of her job. I then found a different dr. My orignal diagnoses was bipolar one disorder, panic disorder without agoraphobia. I weened myself off all the meds I was on and started from scratch. I tried newer mood stablizers and antidepressants of no avail. I told him that I couldn't focus in highschool. He started me on viibryd for depression and put me on adderall. I also was taking klonopin for anxiety. After starting the adderall I dont have to take the klonopin hardly at all anymore. He changed my diagnosis to adult add with depressive episodes. I have a new lease on life now. I enjoying reading. I have adopted three wonderful kids. I have an Australian shepherd that has saved my life more than once. Whenever I feel my life is ruined I put my hand on my heart and say to myself "Feel that, now that's PURPOSE!"

Hi everyone! Well, I'm so sorry to hear of everyone's experiences on this drug, but at the same time, so relieved. My hubs is no support at all. I have tried taking these pills both at night and in the morning. Both options offer horrible side effects. If I take it too early in the morning, then because it doesn't seem to have a full day half life for me, when it starts leaving my system in between doses is when I fall into those night terrors...the most terrifying things I've ever experienced. But if I take it at night, then I'm wide awake all night and get to greet the sun each morning. I've been on these for about 1 1/2 years. I'm on 40 mg/day, and while it has helped normalize my emotions, my hubs just blew up at me last week because he notices that all I want to do is sleep/stay at home...it's time for a change. I know the process might not be wonderful, but I'm going to have to fight through it in order to get to something better.

Veteran,
I just got my blood test results back and it is indicating lupus! I've been taking Viibryd since june... Did you stop taking Viibryd? Did the Lupus go away? I have this small rash close to my nose... I'm so scared and I don't know what to do - Viibryd is the only medicine that made me feel back to normal, I don't want to go back and suffer from my anxiety and depression again... :(

I lost all of my scalp hair due to viibryd. It is only partially regrowing after 1 year however I haven't discontinued the medication yet. Now that I've found other hair loss stories I will.

thanks for sharing - I just started viibryd and the pain from my bulged disk which was mostly under control has been out of control. Otherwise, some spaciness, weapiness--not feeling that it is sufficiently effective so far. The joint pain issue is a deal breaker. Too bad. Paxil works for me, but causes some memory issues and makes my post-pregnancy belly feel bloated and huge. I guess its constipation, not sure. Oh yeah and blood sugar a little high. Oy these meds. 40 feels way too young to be having all these problems. Hopefully it will calm back down--at least the back pain stuff--I'd accepted anxiety and severe PMS but all of the sudden since turning 40 it's like a 3 ring circus with all the side effects acting up, trying to find a better drug etc.

I am also on Viibryd and Remeron as these two together seem like the only thing that works for me. I'm curious as to weight gain? I have gained over 20 lbs since beginning these meds and that in itself is enough to depress me. I've never had weight issues before.

This will be the third day for taking Viibryd. I am anxious to get back on it. It helps improve my memory and my well being mentally and spiritually from past incidences that has majorly depressed me and caused anxiety. It helps me focus on the things I need to in order to concentrate. I feel like I have had amnesia and now I am remembering who I am. This is all I have ever needed was just the gaps filled in so I can feel connected to my being.
