Understanding Childhood Mesenteric Lymphadenitis: Symptoms, Diagnosis And Treatment Complications

Updated

My seven-year-old son recently experienced acute stomach pain, accompanied by rashes on his legs, which led us to admit him to a hospital. Prior to this, he had vomited a few times but did not have a fever. He managed to pass stool after being given an enema before his hospital admission. The diagnostic results from an ultrasound indicated mesenteric lymphadenitis. On the first day, in the evening, they administered a Taxim IV injection of 500mg thrice a day. They also gave him an Avil 1ml IV injection, which caused the rashes to disappear within four hours.

However, by the next day (the second day), we noticed that these rashes had reappeared all over his body, including his face. The doctor was unsure why they returned and could not explain why the rashes did not recede after the second Avil injection. He was also given half a tablet of Allegra 180mg and one tablet of Xyzal to combat the skin rashes, but they persisted.

At present, after two days, the stomach pain has subsided - but the rashes remain. We are significantly concerned about why the rashes reappeared, this time covering a larger area, and why they are not receding with the use of Allegra. Now, the doctor has recommended a daily intake of one Taxim-O 200mg tablet orally in the morning and another at night. Furthermore, he advised taking only half a tablet of Allegra 120mg at night. Do you think it's possible that any of these medications could have caused an allergic reaction?

They also administered Rantac 150 this morning plus some deworming tablets. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as we are deeply worried.
