Tramadol - Unable To Acheive Orgasm (Page 3)

Anyone else experiencing this side effect? Not a normal topic of discussion for me with anyone but my doctor. I found this drug to be very helpful with easing pain, no sedating effect, BUT after taking this medication discovered I was unable to acheive orgasm. It took me a while to figure out it was the Tramadol causing the problem.

I have been taking tramadol for 3 years and it decreased my sex drive and I could not achieve orgasm.
I finally got sick of the addiction (I was popping 8-9 a day) and decided to detox.
I'm on my 4 th day and the first day and night was the worst. I had tremors, chills, non stop bathroom use, swollen and painful breast, severe depression, shaking and no chance of sleep. I took frequent baths through the night and stupidly took night aid to try and sleep and all that did was aggregate me more.
The next few days got easier with the physical but the doom and gloom has stayed and comes and goes.
Last night, my third night my fiancé and I made love and within a minute I orgasmed and we made love again after about 30 mins and I orgasmed again within a minute.
I am wondering if constipation could have been a factor in preventing orgasm because I was no longer constipated due to the after effects of coming off the drug.
I will never want to go through this again and will stay away from drugs if at all possible. It has been a horrible detox ordeal but if you have support and can just be strong, you too can do it. I recommend having the kids stay with a relative so you can put yourself first and allow yourself to heal and honour your body's need for recovery.

well done to you chas, i don't know if im strong enough like you too come off of tramadol, i too have been on them for 3 years and have not made love since that time, what do you use for the pain instead of tramadol??, are you still feeling the down side of not taken them or can you see light at the end of the tunnel?,kind regards Dee

I started taking them for shoulder pain and realised that they helped me with mild social anxiety, so I kept taking them.
I actually no longer have pain I just liked the way they seemed to allow me to socialise more and talk to people easier.
At this point though I am just interested in getting back to who I was and I pray the drug hasn't screwed me up somehow that I will find out later.
I'm looking for detox tea today and I am going to amp up my workouts to produce good feeling endorphins and get my mind off the sadness that comes on.
I feel for those of you with pain and I feel there have got to be better ways. Perhaps a naturalpathic doctor can recommend some healthy ways to releive pain like exercise, nutrition, supplements and massage.

i'm really scared to go off of Tramadol now as well. I've heard it's pure agony for about a week.
Hoiwever, they now have that new treatment where you sleep until you get off of it (until the opiates get off of the receptors)... I'm up to at least 60/day. I don't get high off of them anymore, so I'm going to try to "wean" myself off of them. It worked the last time.

I have similarly noticed this problem when I upped the Tramadol from one to two per day because of a broken fibula and subsequent repair surgery. I am limited as to what I can take for pain because of a kidney problem. For what it is worth -- Tramadol is known to have an antidepressant effect. It is a mild inhibitor of serotonin and norepinephrine. Anorgasmia is a classic symptom of other well known SSRI antidepressant meds. Think of it this way -- you will feel good about not being able to have satisfying sex! Pick your poison, amigos.

For me the safest and most accessible drug is marijuana. It is unbelievable an a sex enhancer. Just another reason for the makers of viagra to be opposed to legalization.

UUmmmm. I have found that my body is very used to the tram after 2 years and it remains the same that it is extremely difficult to achieve orgasm. I WILL SAY, that after working for it, when you do have it, is is one of the strongest and satisfying orgasms I've ever had in my life.

My experience is a bad one. I have been on Tramadol for over 2 years. I have gradually gone off sex more and more as time goes on. I still wake up hard n all that but i just don't have the urge and it seems the more i don't do it, the worse it's getting. I know it's really frustrating for my girlfriend and she has been understanding but she is starting to snap at me sometimes because of it and that only makes me feel worse and makes me want it even less. It's becoming a vicious circle. Some guys have said it means they can last longer when taking tramadol, i experienced that a little to begin with but i also felt the sensation was dulled and i really wasn't enjoying it. So much so that a couple of times i lost my erection. Perhaps that made things worse again. I need the Tramadol because of my pain and the withdrawls are terrible, i tried. But i'm worried that my girlfriend might get sick of me and leave one day. She is only 21 and i am in my later 20's. She will be thinking this is never going to get better. I don't know what to do. I couldn't blame her for leaving. We are only having sex about once a week at most right now, sometimes less. That isn't healthy and i can't expect her to accept that but i feel as if i can't win. I wish my doctor had never prescribed it. Before i started them, i never ever EVER had problems with libido. I had a healthy young mans sex drive and had very regular sex. I feel like an old man sometimes.

thank you all so much. my husband had a very high sex drive, but i never have, but when he had to start taking tramadol due to a disc problem and the pain was so severe he had to take it, but his sex drive just disappeared and i feel so very insecure, although i know that it is the medication and so does he, it does not help. i find myself sitting alone each night, due to the fact that tramadol makes him also sleep much more. it does not help me feeling lonely and sad.

Anyone wishing to 'detox' from Tramadol without having to suffer the full on withdrawal symptoms should take either Nurofen Plus or Cupfrofen Plus.

They will take quite alot of the edge of from the shakes, nausea, chills, sweats, fatigue etc etc as they contain 12.8mgs of Codeine Phosphate and 200mgs of Ibuprofen.

After about 3/4 days of taking nothing but the Nurofen/Cuprofen Plus as a dose of no more than 6 a day, you will notice when you cease taking them you will not have any withdrawals AND the withdrawals from the Tramadol have passed also.

I hope this benefits anyone wishing to rid themselves of Tramadol. It's worked exceptionally well for me a few times. Bear in mind it takes the edge off, not completely stops the withdrawals.

Also, yes it has the same effect on me with regards to being unable to achieve climax! No real issues on erections, just less sensitive.

But the drug is a very strong analgesic so no wonder!

Absolute nightmare, especially when the girl you're having sex with is questioning if it's anything to do with her! :-S

For me it's been a while now since getting off. Amazingly I feel great, am not depressed nor constipated anymore and my sex life is back!
I take advil for the shoulder pain I have. If you can get off that drug I urge you to do so. You will get your life back.

ive been on tramadol for around 7 yrs during this time i got married an started having sex i hav NEVER had an orgasim w my husband we hav now ben married 2 and a half yrs i hate this i know it hurts our relationship i have orgasimed once or twice while having sex dreams but not for the last few yrs ive also orgasimed while i was too young to know what it was so i know kind of what im missing but i want so badly to have that connection w my husband PLEASE DO NOT EVER START THIS DRUG! it has totaly ruined my sex life i cant reach orgasim by myself or w a vibrater when i get close it jus gets kinda uncomfortable and i pull away does anyone have any advise on how i can reach an orgasim? i am 27! i saved myself for marraige an got married at 25 and my dr never warned me of any of this

Yep, tramadol sucks when trying to get off if you're a guy. Even if you're on 500mg/week of testosterone, you can't get off. I would mention it to my doc and see if there is anything that you can use that will help. I'd try Saw Palmetto, and also maybe suggest cabergoline to your doctor and see what he says.

I have only been taking tramodol for 9 days for dental pain and already have noticed a problem with reaching climax during sex! It's impossible! I have however noticed an increase in sex drive, maybe since i cant orgasm it makes me want it more? I told my dr. This and quit taking it immediatly, im using ibuprofen 800mg to manage pain now, not nearly as effective but hopefully worth it? Have only been off tramodol for 2 days & still no happy ending:( I'll let u know when I'm back on track!
