Toprol Vs Metropolo
UpdatedI had a RX for toprol, and the last time I mailed my request for a refill, they sent me metropolo. Is this a substitute for toprol?
Thanks.

Patsy, yes, Metoprolol is the active ingredient in Toprol, so it is the generic version of it.
Metoprolol is a beta blocker that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions.
Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach pain.

KU8ZZY, your question also garners a positive response, Prolomet XL also contains Metoprolol as the active ingredient, in a time released formulation, so it is the same medication as the Toprol Xl.
