I just want to know what are the side effects of Thorazine and if there is any long term affects? ## Chlorpromazine (CPZ), marketed under the brand names Thorazine and Largactil among others, is an antipsychotic medication. Common side effects include movement problems, sleepiness, dry mouth, low blood pressure upon standing, and increased weight. Serious side effects may include the potentially permanent movement disorder tardive dyskinesia, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, severe lowering of the seizure threshold, and low white blood cell levels. In older people with psychosis as a result of dementia it may increase the risk of death. It is unclear if it is safe for use in pregnancy. Ref: Medline Plus

Does a thorazine pill or a generic of it have a V on one side and a 09 19 on the other side? ## The tablet in question is manufactured by Qualitest Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 50mgs of Trazodone, which is an antidepressant that is also used to treat insomnia. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. So no, this is not Thorazine. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My thorazine is Rosemont brand, but ever since I moved back from HI to NJ the ink smears easily and the coating is incorrect at times and dissolves when exposed to air. Its the same brand, also from Walmart pharmacy, does it come from a cheap NJ company, is that why the pills do that? Why the different quality in NJ than HI?

I would like to know of anyone has used this medication for headaches? ## yes. didn't help me with pain. put me in a stupor and i felt like a zombie. It was prescribed by MHNI ## I have never used it, but yes, I can tell you that it is sometimes used for certain types of headaches and migraines, that have failed to be alleviated by other meds. Since it reacts to brain chemicals, this can provide some relief for people with certain problems causing their headaches. But, just lik the other poster said, it didn't work for them and it will not work for everybody. Basically when you suffer from some condition causing pain, your doctor has to play the trial and error game to find out which med will work best for you, since there is no comprehensive way at this time, even as far as mod...

my mother is under hospice care in a nursing home .I found out they are starting her on thorazine, she is very ill and is not going to be with us much longer ,she can't get out of bed or even sit up on her own but she is not shhitzophrenic .tc. why are they giving her this drug ## maybe to make her relaxed and to stay as comfortable as possible. I hope it works out for you ## They use it on patients that they feel a disruptive, need too much attention. It will turn her into a zombie. They used it for the same on my Mother. Be very careful ## They use it as a sedative, so they can ignore the patient! Find another place for your Mom , or just care for her at home. I know it's a pain and an interruption but I did it for my Mom . She was with me in my home for only a month and a hal...
