This Mediaction Sucks

phenytoin sod ext, i have neck pains, odd rashes and always dizzy,.. arent these pills help you not have siezures? not make you feel like your gona have them? am i making any sense.. i have to take 3 every night and i just started..this medication doesnt seem to be working or doing it's job..

How long have you been taking them?

What you've described can be normal side effects to this medication, but they should hit their peak at about 4 to 6 weeks of use, then start to taper off as your body adjusts to the medication.

If the symptoms are severely problematic for you, then you should contact your doctor, as it may not be the right medication for you to use, or you may be on too high of a dosage.

I have been taking this medication almost 1 year. I began to take small doses to assist in my seizure problem. I am STILL adjusting the dose per the dr, but I still feel the same and it almost seems like it induces seizures. My husband and I are incredibly frustrated by this. I'm the only one who works, and I have to take a lit of time off due to symptoms of dizziness, headaches, blurry vision, & neuropathy among the few. The dr keeps ordering costly tests. It's almost like he's giving me meds that make me sick to get more $$ out of me by having me do all these crazy tests and adding/subtracting pills all the time. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I'm at my limit. I've been wheelchair bound due to this and I cannot drive. I am very limited in what I can do, not to mention the small time I have with my kids is usually spent sleeping, or me laying down, not able to play with them. Someone has to have an answer as to why this rx is on the market and is ruining my life. I take 300mg, twice a day. It also reduces the effectifeness of my other pain meds. What can I do?

I recently started taking the same drug, 300mg a day. Have to take it at night with 50mg Tripeline. I also use Epilim 500mg twice a day.

My problem is when I do take 300mg Phenatoin at night with the Tripeline, I feel very tired the next day. Struggle to keep concentration and simple things becomes difficult to do.

Other side effects that I also experience is zwing sound in my both my ears. I also have a constant bad taste, with thirst. I crunch my jaw al the time, have slight tremors and feel distant at most times. I totally feel like crap!

The worst is that I get sort of hallucinations, with what feels like tunnel vision. My family think I'm still using illegal.

Previously I used Epilim and Rivotril, which controlled my seizures 100%, although the Rivotril caused short term memory loss.

Please help with some answers and suggestions.
