Taper Off Of Oxycodone 10/325

Updated

I was in a horrible accident. My Dr. Put me on Dillaudid 4 mg. After a half month I cut myself down to Dilaudid 2 mg. When that was gone, my Dr. Put me on Oxycodone 10, to keep down withdrawals. I've been on these for approx. 2 weeks. Is it safe to now cut my dose down, and how should I go about it? I DON'T WANT OR NEED THE WITHDRAWAL.

It is not a time released medication, so as long as your doctor approves, you should be able to cut the pills to gradually reduce your dosage.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

If you have only been taking opiates (as prescribed) for about a month, and only the oxycodone for about 2 weeks. You could easily go cold turkey. So a taper schedule from your doctor you should be good as good gets. Don't over think WDs, it takes a while for the body to get completely hooked. It took me being prescribed for more then 6 months to notice any symptoms and they were very minor. 2 yrs later it was hell.

No, to answer both replies... Tomorrow I get my cast off my crushed wrist and will probably then start physical therapy in both wrists, and my leg that was traumatized badly. I'm on the Oxycodone 10/325 every 6 hours, so in a 24 hour period I only take 3 pills. Through my P.T., I'm gonna be hurting, so I'm going to continue taking them for another month, any way. My whole body is sore, my shoulders, wrists, leg, back. I remember rolling on the ground through 2 barbed wire fences and a clump of trees stopped me. I landed in a grassy area, on the left side of my face. I'm VERY BLESSED TO BE ALIVE. No helmet.
