Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

Started supra at 545 and followed instructions.
Had movement within 10 minutes. Not too bad . Good idea to stay close to bathroom and to walk around a bit . Been eating jello too and drinking apple juice. Thus far, 3 hours later seems to be subsiding . Taking second dose at 10. Procedure at 9 am . Make sure to use cold water with prep and definitely use straw. Also recommend lots of water consumption during day /stay hydrated/before you start prep .

First dose at 5pm, all went well, not tasty at all. Made several trips to the bathroom, no nausea, chills, or anything else that was not expected. The worst part was knowing had to take the second dose at 9pm, terrible anxiety as the time approached, but I did it as scheduled, expecting more quick trips to the bathroom and then some rest. Procedure in morning. I really think it is a head game you play yourself, just follow directions and all will go well.

I did use surprep. It didn't taste good but was better than the gallon stuff and it works fast no cramping or sick feeling I drink it with a orange slushes and it worked good luck it's worth it

This is my 5th or 6th colonscopy, have Crohn's disease which has thankfully been in remission for years. I think this is my second time doing Suprep, get them done every 3-4 years. I took my first dose today at 4pm and it's nearly 7pm, still hasn't worked yet, grrr. Just feel very bloated and slightly crampy. I am one of those late starters too I guess.

I remember this happened last time and I was up most of the night in the bathroom. It works, just takes longer on me for some reason. I much prefer this to the earlier prep kits I've tried because you don't have to drink as much. Moviprep, Golightly, etc.

The flavor isn't great but I don't find it to be that bad. I add ice to the cup and drink it as fast as I can with a straw, really helps. Drinking the 32oz afterwards is the worst part imo.

I am not looking forward to the second dose though, especially at 4am. Really hope its starts working before then.

Took Supra prep at 6:15pm... took 39 minutes to drink. It tastes awful but worked in 30 minutes. Did not experience any tummy cramps. Struggled to drink the second dose.... the smell and taste just got to me and made me wanna gag

I'm 26. My sister is 31 and was diagnosed with Crohn's this past year. I've been having the same symptoms she had right before she was diagnosed. So I saw a GI doctor last month and he ordered an endoscopy and colonoscopy. It's this Thursday and I'm scared s***less. (No pun intended, seriously.) I have severe emetophobia, so I'm terrified this suprep is going to make me throw up. I have phenergan and will definitely be taking it before my prep. How long before I start should I take the phenergan in order for it to be effective? I've birthed two children naturally, have dealt with kidney stones, and have chronic migraines so I'd like to think I'm pretty tough, but I'm really freaking out about this. :(

My experience was unpleasant. I was on liquid diet for the day I took the first dose. Took dose at 5:00pm. As an FYI, I had a gastric sleeve procedure a year and a half ago so my stomach is tiny. I could barely choke down the drink. Because of my restriction, I had to take smaller drinks. It tasted like salty rotten fruit water- even with crystal lite added. I was able to keep from vomiting and followed with the 32 oz water-altho it took a while due to my restriction. I got terrible cramps and gas but that was it. Basically nothing happened. I had one small movement but did get a splitting headache. At 1:00am tried dose 2.. About half of it got thrown back up. Followed with the 32 oz water. Again almost nothing happened. I finally had 3 bm's but did not get cleaned out at all. My head felt like someone had hit me with a brick. Ended up having to cancel the procedure. We are going to try a 2 day prep next time. I am now wondering when the medicine is going to start cleaning me out--I figure it went in yesterday and at some point it should hit me like a mack truck- just wondering when.

I had my very first colonoscopy on Sept. 1, 2016. i used the Suprep Bowel Prep and i was very pleased. It tasted like Grape drink to me. Mixes very well with water, goes down easy and started working within an hour after the first dose, i had to drink( 2) 16 ounce bottles of water within an hour then did the second dose on the day of my procedure. Had some nausea and very very little vomiting and it did the job. i slept through the entire procedure, I highly recommend Suprep, it was so much better than drinking that 4 liters of Golytely...bleh!! I could only get one glass of that crap down and threw the rest away. Suprep is lower volume.

Tastes pretty good to me. I mixed it with cold water and used a straw and did not sip it I swallow it quick! It tasted like thick sweet berry cough medicine. I then cleansed my pallet with a lemon wedge and rinsed my mouth out. Then I had two more cups of cold water as directed! Drank them both within 15 minutes and within 38 minutes the cleansing began!

All went well, but from Monday around 2:30 , the same day I had it done. I had terrible stomach cramps. I felt like I was in labor for 48 hours. I was in pain till late Sat. afternoon then all was normal again. I never hurt the first time but sure did this time. The paper said call the doctor if your in severe pain so I did and was told if it goes worse to go to the ER. All my results where fine. I don't know if I will ever get another one, between the nasty stuff I had to drink then pain for 6 days!! Sure ruined my whole week for me!

Tastes awful. Hard to get down with all the fluids. Fought really hard not to vomit. Prep was successful for exam. It's been a week and I still have cramps, diarrhea, bloating and gas. Belly is still noisy. Wish they would have told me about the prolonged after effects.

Worked myself up last night after reading these posts. Usually if there is a chance of nausea, I will have it. So far it was way worse in my mind than in reality.

I stayed on a low fiber diet for most of the week and with the exception of a small sandwich had banana and peanut butter protein shakes yesterday. Made it through the prep by chilling it, drinking through a large straw and holding my nose. Took me about 4 gulp sessions in 2 minutes. Followed each gulp session with a swig of white grape juice before letting go of my nose. Immediately brushed my teeth and started with my water chaser. I drink a lot of water normally so I just sipped on 40 ounces of room temp water over the hour. Didn't have any nausea from prep or chills. Was extremely bloated. Was a bit nauseous from all the sweet sugar drinks I was drinking before. First bm hit about an hour after finishing prep but really didn't get down to business until about a half hour later.

I drank my first dose at 7, nasty tasting, had a heck of a time getting it all down! Kept taking a sip of lemon juice to get the taste out of my mouth. Have to go threw it again at 4 am and wondering if I can get it down a second time! I don't know what the others had that didn't taste bad, mine sure was nasty! Then 32 oz. of water, I felt like I was going to pop by the time I got the last glass full down! It started working with in 20 min. of the first glass with it in it and it is after 9 now and still running to the bathroom about every 15 min. The worst part of the whole thing is drinking this Suprep! I heard they had made it so it tasted good now, well mine sure didn't!! It was ok just in my mouth but as soon as it hit my throat the taste was terrible and I had to keep telling my self swallow, don't throw it up! Dreadinf 4 am!!!
This is my second time the last time I was throwing it up as fast as it was going down! Then when I got to the hospital they gave me an enema!! That was fun too. So hoping I can get the last dose down and be done with it and get this over so I can eat real food again.

Fortunately for me, the pharmacy was out of Suprep. I'll have to drink 4 L of a generic NULYTELY but it only cost $10.00. When I asked about the cost of Suprep, they said $170.00. I might have also gotten a $34.00 discount. Looking online for the retail cost of the medical grade components of Suprep I found the following:

[Wt (Oz) / Wt (g) / Price / Dose (g) for Price]
Sodium Sulfate 4 oz 113.5 g $7.99 35.00 $2.46
Potassium Sulfate 24 oz 681 g $40.99 6.26 $0.38
Magnesium Sulfate 16 oz 454 g $20.00 3.2 $0.14
Cost to purchase components at retail (Total) $2.98 per dose

Add the cost of packaging etc and this is still an incredible profit margin. Nevertheless, my guess is that the cost of defending even one legal case could gobble a lot of profits, let alone if damages were awarded.

I drank my first dose of Sureprep today at noon. And I will drink the next dose at 10 tonight. It began working within two hours and it is now 6:15pm and I'm still rushing to the bathroom some. This is the worst tasting prep for a colonoscopy. I also had a slight headache after drinking this and felt like throwing up for at least an hour. Every time I think about having to drink this again at 10 tonight, I get nauseated.

I used the Suprep Bowel Kit for the first time two days ago. For my past colonoscopies I have used both GoLytely and Nulytely, both of which are polypropylene glycol (PEG) based. IMO the Suprep is superior to the other two prep kits. I can only describe the PEG kits as “violent” expulsion. As per doctor’s instruction, I took my first dose at 6 p.m. and my second dose at 11 p.m. My procedure was scheduled for 8 a.m. the following day, with a 7 a.m. arrival. I had an hour’s drive to the where the procedure was held. I was cleaned out by the time I left home, but kept a moisture barrier underpad on the seat of the car, used a sanitary pad in my panties and brought some extra panties and sanitary pads along. My husband drove me there and home.

I found the taste of Suprep resembled cherry cough syrup with a lot of salt. I suppose the salts are added to balance electrolytes. I chilled the Suprep bottles as well as the water I used to bring the amount to the Fill Line on the cup provided in the kit. I drank all of the mixture in several swallows and in between each swallow I sucked on a lemon wedge to mask the saltiness, as I found this drink too salty for my taste. (Note: you need to drink this mixture immediately, not over an hour as some people seem to think). I then drank the instructed 32 ounces of water within an hour. I used one of these tall plastic cups that come with a lid and straw that you can purchase anywhere these days. I just walked around my home doing little chores while sipping my water. Moving around is the best way to get your bowels moving, prep or no prep. Results occurred within two hours and were easier to pass than when I used the PEG kits.

On the web I found several helpful hints to colonoscopy prep. Using the lemon is one of these hints, as well as using the softest toilet tissue you can find. Applying Vaseline near the rectum area helps elevate irritation and using hemorrhoid treatments of your choice. Keep some things of your choosing within arm’s reach of the toilet to help pass the time while in there. Keep an extra supply of TP nearby and plenty of water to drink as this will make elimination easier and help clean you out sooner. I had read that some people felt very chilled as the evening went on and since I feel the cold easily I wore several top layers under my dress. Wearing a dress eliminated need to take time to pull down shorts/jeans. I used an old bath towel to cover my legs and feet. My suggestion is, whatever you wear, it be old or something you don’t mind getting poo on in case that happens.

I spent most of my time on the toilet after the 11 p.m. dose. From midnight to 3 a.m., I couldn’t leave the toilet. This is where my tablet came in handy as I listened to an audio book.

One of the best tips I found on the web was the suggestion of eating a very low fiber diet and drinking a lot of water (flavored and sparkling water came in handy here) starting two days prior to the prep. I ate a low fiber fasting type diet two days before my prep. I didn’t do this prior to my colonoscopy three years ago and the prep didn’t clean me out well enough, hence the repeat colonoscopy three years later. The doctor couldn’t get a good enough look at my colon last time. Colon cancer is in my family so I had to insure I had a thorough clean out this time around.

My results showed no polyps and pictures doctor took of my colon looked so clean, I was amazed. This was the first time my colon ever looked that clean. Bottom Line - I don’t know if the Suprep is just better at cleaning out the colon than the PEG preps, and/or a combination of the low fiber fasting diet plus the Suprep, but the results speak for themselves.

I hope this helps you!
