Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

I am drinking my 2nd 16oz of water after the 2nd suprep and ended up vomiting. I am reading that others got nauseous so worried my prep failed:( has all of this pain been for not?

I have just taken my second round of Suprep and hoping the cycle is done sometime soon here so I can get some sleep. This is my first colonoscopy and I am 33 years old. As I have nothing to compare it to, general speaking it has gone pretty well. The taste is definitely the absolute worst part. I had a very difficult time getting the first round down. But I managed within about 20 minutes. I was standing up the entire time while I drank it and would walk around. Drinking all the water afterwards was a welcome relief. Afterwards I did have some pretty intense nausea which lasted about an hour. The Suprep worked very quickly, within about 30 minutes I was starting to go. And it lasted about an hour and a half to two hours. Then I was done. Then a break, followed by the next round in the middle of the night. The first round I used a jolly rancher in my mouth in between drinks of suprep. I was holding my nose, using a straw but it was still pretty bad. Due to the nausea with the first round I decided to phone my doctor and he called in Zofran for me to take 30 minutes before the next round. This made a HUGE difference, I would not do this prep again without it. The second time I also gave myself 30 minutes to get the Suprep down but this time I would take a few chugs, then suck on lemon Italian Ice. This also seemed to really help. All in all, it went well. If they could only do something about the taste; there has to be something they can do. I had no cramping or chills with this but I did get a headache. Many people talked about a chilling sensation but I did not have this. So all in all, I'd probably recommend it. But maybe think about nausea meds to go with it and try the Italian Ice.

I'm an hour and a half in. I chugged it quickly from a water bottle. I found it easier to chug and not smell that way. I chugged it as fast as I could with apple juice chasers. Got it down in about 5 minutes. I immediately felt nauseaus and was shaking uncontrollably. I had my first BM about 15 minutes later, and with each pass I felt better. I had about 5-6 BMs and now they seem to come every 15 minutes or so. I really wish there was only one dose to this! It seems like I'm already clean and am so tempted not to take the other.

Getting ready to leave for my colonoscopy and endoscopy. I read all of these posts before I started the Suprep. The mixed it with Sprite, but it was still unpleasant. It kind of smelled like cough syrup, but sure didn't taste like it. Bitter and salty pretty well sums it up. With the first half, I tried just gulping it down, but didn't get far before gagging. So I tried a straw, which wasn't much better. The second dose, I tried holding my nose when I gulped and that's the way I'd do it if I ever have to do this again.Holding the nose did help some and I gt it all down in 2 tries. I took the first dose at 1:30 in the afternoon and the second dose at 10:30 PM. I wanted to make sure that I was done before my morning appointment. The last trip to the bathroom was 6:15 AM and my appointment is at 8:30 AM. I had no discomforts other than needing to go quickly at times. I ate normally, even had a light breakfast the morning before, and had no cramping or pain of any kind. I did as others suggested and used aloe TP, wipes and vaseline and I'm sure that helped a lot. Drinking the Suprep was the worst part for me, but I've had to drink worse.

If you've ever had to do golytely, you will appreciate this stuff! The taste isn't great, but it barely makes you gag (unlike the golytely which literally made me heave with every sip). Mine was lemon flavored, which honestly wasn't that bad. I didn't notice that weird, "poison" taste compared to the other stuff. It started to work very quickly. Probably less than half an hour the first time and immediately after I drank it the second time. For me, the effects lasted more than 12 hours, although my colonoscopy is because I have had bad diarrhea for a month, so who is to say what caused the 12 hour effect of this.

I've been a bit concerned about preparing for my first colonoscopy and am in the midst of the night-before prep -- it's not all that bad. I think Suprep must be an improvement over other prep kits. It's odd tasting (sweet, salty, cough-medicine-y), but you only have to down 16 oz. then clear water. For me, it began working in about an hour.

Just had a colonoscopy on Monday with Suprep. I was scared to drink the first dose for fear of it tasting bad, however, once I finally started drinking it, I had the whole 16 ounces down in 60 seconds. I did it in 3 gulps with ginger ale in between. I was gross tasting, but I held my nose and drank with a straw. I was surprised that I had absolutely no nausea, no cramping, nothing. Just the urge to go about 40 minutes later. However, I took about 3 1/2 hours to totally clean out. This may be due to chronic constipation. I drank a bottle of gatorade prior to drinking the suprep and had another one after the suprep. I drank this instead of the 32 ounces of water. In the morning when I had to drink the second dose, I could not get it down. I only drank 1/3 of it, but it still worked just fine and I cleaned out the same. I do recommend taking the second dose a little earlier than the doctor says to. I was supposed to take mine at 5am, and my procedure was at 9am. I was still going right up until we left at 7:45am and I went once at the surgicenter. All in all I think it could have been a lot worse.

Just took that horrible stuff. Took me nearly 30 minutes to choke it down. I did throw up 4 times. I am trying very hard not to right now. I never ever want to do this again and I am not sure I can make it through the morning dose!

Wish I could be more positive - I was psyching myself up that it couldn't be as bad as people say. It tastes like vomit in my opinion. I just took the first dose and it was touch and go whether I would get it down without throwing up. I did and am now drinking the water. Nothing yet but the nausea has passed. I have a headache now but it is manageable. Dreading the second dose...

I get scoped every 3 years, and have always used the PEG stuff.. GoLightly/ TriLite etc. I have a very hard time tolerating it, so this year I am going to try the Suprep. I have a very tight twisty colon, which makes it harder to "purge"... it just backs up. So I will use the same program I developed for the TriLite ; no eating for 2 days, then instead of drinking dose 1 at night and dose 2 in the morning, I moved it up to dose 1 of TriLite late morning, and the second dose in the late evening. There was no way I would have been able to drink anything in the morning! It worked well that way, and I was able to actually walk to the car in the morning . So I will try that same routine with Suprep, 11am and then 11pm, because I KNOW that by morning there is NO WAY I can force down more of that "antifreeze" !! I get nauseas just thinking about colon preps, and I will be really glad to get this thing over with again. I hope the Suprep is better than the old antifreeze.... please oh please.

Absolutely disgusting. I'll never use this again. It's too salty, vaguely sweet, and I could barely gag it down. But it did work, almost too well. I was still feeling the effects 6 hours later. I did not do anything different with my diet, but had no problems. I was given 2 Bisacodyl to take 1 hour before the first prep, too. I took the second bottle this morning. didn't make it through the whole container as I gagged and choked on it. It started to work very quickly. Now I'm worried that I won't make it to the Endoscopy Center without having to go!

It is fine, just drink it quickly and then get ready to be on the toilet for an hour or so afterwards. Good luck. I didn't eat anything for 25 hours prior to bottle number 1. This helped I think. I drank several bottles of Gatorade, soda, green tea and water to hydrate during the day.

I followed the directions for the first bottle of Suprep and really wish I hadn't. It was horrible and it took me an hour and a half to make my way through it and even then I left about 1/4 left in the cup. For bottle number 2 I devised a new strategy. After reading several message boards I realized it was ok to mix with something other than water. I used premade lemonade. I used a small glass (much easier than the large plastic cup that comes in the box) and poured about 1/4 the bottle in with an equal part of lemonade. It was still terrible but it was just enough that I could gulp it down and chase it with a large glass of water. While I did have to repeat this process 3 more times, it was much easier than trying to tackle the whole bottle at once. Good luck.

I found the salty cough-syrupy taste pretty tough to take--but i have always had a problem with liquid meds. I drank my first dose at 6pm followed by 32 oz water and had no movement until 6:30AM. Hope this second dose (i chilled it more) goes down better and cleans me out quick. My insurance did not cover and the cost is crazy--almost $75!! Ridiculous.

Just did my first dose. This is not bad at all period. The way to drink it is to take plenty of gulps. Listen to what people here have done for prep. Start eating a liquid or semi liquid diet a day early (chicken noodle soup) drink lots of water or Gatoraid the day before and day of...you get light headed from the lack of vitimins.Use preperation H just before and get Aloe TP paper.
Stand up during your dose's, this will eliminate the vomit from the gas build up. Mine first movement took effect 34 mins after first dose. Its just dark brown water.
Its not keeping me on the toilet, just every now and then .
