Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

hi, they say you cant have carbonated beverages, so I dont think you can mix with gingerale. I didnt get a headache, the chills werent that bad. I mixed it with water and drank 32 ounces of water--it does taste bad but not as bad as the miralax stuff. If you like lemons, try sucking on one if you want to get the taste out. Good
luck!!

I see I may have made a mistake in eating salad and veggies today. Tomorrow is prep day and some of the comments are scathe because I will be home alone for the prep. I will use a straw and drink tea or lemonade after. But hope I can mix this stuff with something. Hope I don't have the vomiting or headaches or chills.

This stuff says you have to mix with water but one person said they mixed it with ginger ale. Can you do that? My procedure is scheduled for Monday so tomorrow is prep day for me. Afraid it will make me gag. Sweet and salty? Yuck. Not a big water drinker nor do I drink large volumes of liquid anyway. Today I went meatless and ate veggies. Any suggestions on mixing it? And can you drink coffee the morning of the procedure?

Hi, yes I agree with that statement, it is up to your Dr and what he thinks is best for the patient.

I think each doctor has their own preference. My husband and I both just procedures done and we were to do our Suprep Five hours a part on the night before. My husband did his at 5 and 10 and I did mine at 4 and 9. So, YES, it does sound right if that is what your doctor prescribed.

Hi, no that is not correct. My Dr. told me that you should take the dosages 12 hours apart. The last dosage should be taken 4 hours you are to report for the procedure.

My dose from my Dr. starts at 3:PM. My second dose is at 7:PM. Does this sound right? This is done in same day. It seems most people take one dose one day and second dose next morning. I am suppose to take two doses in same day.

Hi, I was able to get my colonoscopy done today. When I told the dr at the hospital before my procedure that I vomitted today when I took the second dosage, but not on the first dosage, he said that was strange. He said that my colon was cleaned out. I did drink the 32 ounces of water after I vomitted, so I think that helped.

Only your doctor will be able to say for sure. Were you fairly "cleaned out" last night when you went to bed? Even though you vomited, were you able to be further cleaned this morning? I hope you are able to go through with it. If you do have to do this again, maybe you can ask for some anti nausea meds. I plan to do that next time as I had a hard time keeping my second dose down. Also, standing helped me to not vomit. Good luck!

I took the suprep last night at 6:00pm and again this morning at 6:00am, which took me an hour to get it down. Well, at 8:00 am, I just vomitted--I am scheduled to be at the hospital at 10:30am, do you think they will stil be able to do the procedure?

I took my first dose this evening at 6:00 pm. It took me the entire hour to drink the prep and the two 16 oz glasses of water. It started working after about 45 minutes from my first sip. I was finished going to the bathroom after about 2 hours. I ate an egg on toast for breakfast today and a canned chicken sandwich at 1:00 pm. However, I did use white bread. Then jello for dinner. I haven't starved at all and the food didn't seem to affect my outcome with the clean out. My second dose will be a 4:00 am. I never had cramps and was just mildly sick to my stomach when I drank the Suprep --that's why I had to drink it so slowly. I've worried about this for two months and sure will be glad when it's over.

That last post is kind of scary! I started my Suprep at 4pm this afternoon. It took me ten minutes to get it down. I sucked on an apple flavored jolly rancher in between drinks and it helped tremendously. I also held my breath while drinking. I thought I was going to throw it up by the end, but I was able to keep it down. It only took 17 minutes before it started working on me and I then I kept going for a solid hour. I'm getting chills now (it has been about an hour and forty five minutes). I did have some cramping, which is relieved as I keep using the bathroom. I'm hopeful I can keep the second dose down tonight at 9pm. I'm a little worried though.....

I had a horrible experience when using Suprep. After the first dose I developed a horrible headache. An hour later I began having bowel movements and then the vomitting began. To make a long story short, I ended up in the ER and they nerly lost me. My electrolytes were so low and I was so dehydrated. My heart rythmn was off And the paramedics were having trouble getting me regulated. After two days in the hospital I am still very weak and my Lipase enzymes are very high. All from taking this SUPREP. I have no other health problems. I will never take it again.

I took the first dose of Suprep at 5 pm. The taste is very bad (cough syrup). I used a straw to drink it which helped somewhat. I also stopped 4 times to chew Trident gum to get a break from the nasty taste. It was very hard to drink the 4 cups of water afterward. I felt bloated, but at least it didn't make me nauseous. I still have a little diarrhea (10 pm), but the worst of it was over by 7 pm. It will be hard to drink the second dose tomorrow morning.

I just tried Suprep at 6:00 pm this evening. It's not bad at all. Kind of tastes like cherry cough medicine watered down combined with a light salty taste. Afterwards, it took 1 3/4 hours before it took effect. I started to get concerned because nothing was happening so I drank a 16 oz. bottle of water and that got things moving. I think it's important to continue drinking throughout the evening. So far, no more activity after a half hour.

I should have followed up. I was afraid my prep was not complete but the doctor said it was perfect (and he gave me pictures of my intestine to prove it.) For those who said the Suprep was intolerable, you should be glad you've never used GoLytely - that takes (like what I can only imagine) urine combined with salt water would taste like - just hideous. Pills would be ideal but I've read they are a little harder on the kidneys (at least the ones I read about.) I don't have to go for 10 years, which makes me a little nervous, but I'll live with it.

Just wanted to follow up on my Colonoscopy procedure using Suprep on 4/11. I was nervous because I had no results for 12 hours. I had bloating and abdominal discomfort for 6+ hours, which made it impossible to get any sleep. At 5 am I began to get the 2nd dose ready, and right before I took it I had results, that lasted almost 2 hours, on and off. I took the second dose as well. My appt was for 10:30 but got to the hospital around 9:30. The doctor found a polyp and removed it. He said the quality of the prep was good. The good thing about Suprep is no vomiting. It does taste nasty though, but you take less of it than other preps. I have to have another test in 3 years, so hopefully by then they will have come up with an even better prep.

OMG, they should tell you before hand it has Sucralose (Splenda) in it. I am allergic to Splenda. Now what? The bloating and discomfort probably is coming from that. My doctor also gave me anti-nausea meds so I don't throw up.
