Sulfameth Trimethoprim 800/160tabs

partner was prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 tabs. In past 30 years never had problems with urinary infection. what can bring this on and do i have to be concerned about becoming infection sexually?

A UTI is not something you can catch, through sexual contact.

There are many possible causes, such as using antibiotics, not drinking enough water, not completely emptying the bladder when urinating and etc. Basically anything that upsets the natural balance of the bacteria in the urinary tract.

Sulfemethoxazole with Trimethoprim is an antibiotic, a generic for Bactrim and it is commonly used to treat UTIs. It may cause side effects, like nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea and skin rash.

As to not having had one for the past 30 years, that really doesn't mean anything. Our bodies do change with time. For over 40 years, I'd never had a yeast infection, until very recently, when I was put on Penicillin for a dental infection.

I was recently prescribed Sulfameth/Trimethoprim 800/160 tabs for a UTI. Not to long ago my doctor prescribed Metronidazole 500 mg (7 days), generic for Flagyl. I had a bad reaction to Metronidazole 500 mg, I stopped taking it due to agonizing stomach pain throughout the night, the 5th day. This medication caused thrust on my tongue, white bumps on my arms, yeast infection, itchiness, and now a UTI. Having a bad experience with antibiotics, contemplating if I should even take sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 tabs, has anyone had successful results with Sulfameth/Trimethoprim 800/160 tabs for UTI?

I was in excruciating pain from tooth infection. My whole face was completely swollen. SulfamethTrimethoprim 800 started working pretty fast. The pain begin easing up quite a bit within a few hours and the swelling started going down also. I was completely pain-free within 48 hrs. and all the swelling was gone within 4 days!

Yeah im having bad experience with Antibiotics too i dont know which one is good they all seem to do the same thing or have real bad side effects that you HATE to take them im so scared to use them even this one they tell me it safe to use BUT IS IT REALLY???
