I will admit that I am not terribly familiar with medicating canines, however, from what I've managed to find, it seems to be used in dogs in a similar way to the way it's used in humans.

It is a gastro-intestinal medication, mainly used to treat ulcers, but also some gases of GERD.

Common listed side effects include: nausea, headache and constipation, but I have no idea if these would be the same for dogs.

You can read more about the medication here:

Is there anything else I can help you with?
