Substitute Options For Tramadol

Updated

As we all now know they have moved Tramadol into a "Script Only" category and we are unable to purchase it online from ANY WHERE. My desperate problem is that I've taken Tramadol for over 10 yrs. now to help control my discomforts from Rheumatoid Arthritis and a Herniated Disc that is crushing my Sciatic Nerve. With NO INSURANCE I've been managing these issues with taking ONLY 2-3 50 mg. a day and have been able to continue to function WELL; not GREAT but I was among the living at least. My body never showed signs of side effects from taking Tramadol & I made sure to never abuse this gifted medicine. My fear is that the pain & depression that is to come once my body has been released from this medicine......I'll think to do the UNTHINKABLE! Is there not another medicine available to those who need pain management without falling into a Government Medical Plan where I'm costing ever hard working Red Blooded American a fortune in obtaining FREE medical assistance. I want to be responsible for my PAIN but where does a responsible individual find the means of doing that when the FDA changes their decisions & findings on a medication that has been readily available for almost 50 years!! I'm out of options so any input would be WONDERFUL! Keep in mind that I'm 46 and I'm a responsible health nut that is NOT abusing Tramadol.

@Sam I am,

Sorry to hear about your situation with not being able to obtain Tramadol via the internet. A lot of people seem to suggest ordering it through other countries to get around that. However, since it would be illegal to do so in the US, my first thought would be to look into patient assistance programs as well as drug savings cards that could help cut down the cost of obtaining it through legitimate means.

For someone with the types of conditions you're facing, I don't see how any doctor would deny you in the right to use Tramadol, as it's not considered to be nearly as abusive as other kinds of narcotic pain meds in that respect... I realize insurance prices can be outrageously expensive, but in this day and age they don't really give patients a choice in the matter. I'd only hope that the savings you'd receive from discount cards and/or patient assistance could help offset the amount you pay for insurance. Some coupons, such as the one MedsChat offers ("here") can reportedly help cut costs from anywhere between 15-75% off at most pharmacies in the US.

Other than that, you could also try contacting a Naturopathic doctor who may suggest (easier-to-obtain) natural remedies for decreasing inflammation/pain.

I hope this helps!
