Suboxone Coverage

Passport no longer covers my Suboxone prescription. I live in Kentucky and desperately need my medication. Is there any insurance that will cover my Suboxone?

Jessica, many state Medicaid programs are no longer covering it due to the cost. You can check with the other Health Care Plans that Kentucky Medicaid has. If it is a Kentucky Medicaid decision, then none of the plans will cover it. If it is only the Health Plan that you belong to, it eis possible that one of the other Health Plans may cover it. But, you may or may not be able to change plains right away. You can go to each of the websites for the Medicaid Health Plans and put Suboxone in the search bar. It seems that only pregnant women and those under 21 are eligible for addiction treatment through Kentucky Medicaid.

Hi Jessica,

Have you also thought about using a pharmacy coupon as an alternative way to save money on the cost of Suboxone?

This site does offer a free one that can be used at over 60,000 pharmacies across the US. It reportedly helps patients save anywhere from 15-75% off prescriptions. You can view more details about it here: Rx Savings Card

On a side note, I don't think the savings cards can be used along with insurance (although please correct me if I'm wrong) - but this might only be worth considering during the time frame that you're still searching for the right coverage.
