Suboxone, And Heroin Treatment For Minors

Updated

A Friend has come to me with a problem about her Daughter abusing heroine. She is not showing ANY SIGNS OF WITHDRAWAL OR abuse, but is saying she is on suboxone. Can she receive treatment for heroine abuse without parental consent? And how easy is it to receive suboxone?

What Loveme states is very true. Suboxone cannot be prescribed by any doctor, you have to go to a specialist who has been trained in it's use, it is also extremely expensive.

guys, come on, if the kid is on heroin, don't you think she can find suboxone? It is sold on the street, too. Furthermore, what parent would not consent to it if it gets their child off heroin?

if she wants to come off heroin she should step down using the time released avinza it too costs around $10 to $12 a capsule

Hello~ I am a Painkiller addict and am going to my first appt, in the next couple days, for soboxone. I am so very excited about it. I know that it will not be as easy as everyone says or everything that I have researching but its worth the try. Im done with the pills. I have found a Dr. that is actually provided through my insurance, but the first script for Soboxone will be in cash and it is not that exspensive. Considering I spend 5 times more than the script on street pills. Im sure the visit without insurance is at LEAST 500 and up and that can get pricey for someone who doesnt have the money. I have been looking for a Dr. for the last 3 weeks and have finally found one in my insurance network. I can describe how excited I am !!! I guess what I wanted to post was I think that anyone will do what they feel fit to do when they are completly ready to stop abusing, even if that means trying to taper down on your own, go through some withdrawals until the money is saved up to go visit a Dr. Thats what I have been doing and then was blessed to not have to spend it all due to my insurance. Anyhow... good luck to myself and everyone else. Thanks~

TO SHANNON: no I m not a moron, i know avinza is a morphine sulfate but it is 24 hour time release, heroin is purified morphine in cystalline state, it is a hell of a lot cheaper than suboxone, an it would not give her no eurphoric feeling, suboxone is another drug , more exspensive than avinza, the only cheap medication is methadone in pill form after you go thru a 30 to 90 day detox with the liquid form of methadone

Im at work and have friends here that support me and will help keep me busy, mentally. :) Just taking it hour by hour and knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Have a great day everyone. Thanks~

Supoxone is hard to come by. We get it from a counselor - she subscribes it - we have to pay for her couseltation and the get it at the pharmacy. She did say it will be available n generic ofrm in October. It seems it is all about the money. it does work and it better than the alternative. One day at a time!

SO..... I went to my appt this morning!!! I didnt sleep at all last night so I walked my pitbull, Homer, and smoked a pack of cigarettes. LOL... Got to the Dr;s office with some pretty good withdrawls going. Took about 2 hours the entire process. All I have to say is Soboxone is amazing! I feel wonderful and its as if the world has been lifted off my shoulders. This particular Dr. is under my insurance. Total in all for the visit and the script was $160.00 They had the medicine there in office, which was a blessing. I cant even describe how wonderful I am feelling ! I hope everyone that is in the same boat as myself at least gives Soboxone a try. Bless GOD and all that he/she is!! Have a wonderful day every one. 29 hours with Sub and very happy~

Hello again ! Today is day 6 on Suboxone and completely opiate free! I still feel absolutely wonderful and havent had the desire to take any painkillers that I was taking before, and my goodness, I dont even have words to describe the blessing of Sub. So far, I have convinced 4 additional friends, to go see the Dr. that I went to and all four are in the same fantastic boat that I am in! I have had just a couple of side effects, but I beleive that its more mentally me than the actual medicine. I have had a couple of panick attacks that have stemmed from just the lortab habit. For example, after day three, I went to take my Sub dosage in the morning and saw that I only had a few left. Which normally, with the lortabs, I would have started freaking out because just a few lortabs meant that I needed to start looking again before I ran out. So, I started having a stupid panick attack. I slowly calmed myself down and recognized that I dont need all that junk and what Pills I had left of the Sub, was exactly how many I needed, and no more. I have had a couple of cravings here and there, but they are just fleating thoughts that don't linger more than a second, literally. Im currenty trying to get my brother started, but I done believe he is ready yet. Anyhow.... thanks everyone for reading and good luck to each every one.~

Hi Newbie - Glad you are doing so well. Can I ask you if you are having issues with sleeping? Are you tired during the day or wanting to sleep late in the morning? Are you taking any other drugs - like klonipen or an anti-anxiety? My son is still taking that - but is down to two a day. He is down to 2 suboxone per day also - it has been 6 weeks for him. I have a hard time getting him to talk about how he is feeling - so I try and take one day at a time. I am pleased that you are having such good results and encouraging others to join you!

Good morning! Thank you for your encouragement! It does help. I do not have any troubles sleeping at all and no, I do not take any other medications. During the day on Sub, sometimes I feel my eyelids getting heavy and may yawn a little more than normal, but I find that if I get up and start doing something, the energy comes flowing back. This morning was my follow up appt and all went well. The Dr.s were pleased that only one 4 mg was working very well. Sometimes I take 1 and 1/2 per day, but I find that the more I take, the more tired I get. I do not like being tired, so I have been adjusting the Sub dosage to fit my needs and physical feellings. I hope this helped a little bit, but again, its only been one full week for me. And once AGAIN, I believe that this has changed my life for the much much better. I wish you well with your son and if there are any other questions that I can answer for you, regarding how I am feeling on Sub, I do not mind at all !! Thanks again and have a most wonderful day :)

What a blessing! Tmrw will be 2 weeks on Sub and still feeling as great as I did the first day. Actually it is better every single day. I went on a 3 day camping trip over this last weekend and that was a testament to how I was doing mentally. Before Sub, I did take painkillers for legitamite reasons, yet got out of hand. So over the camping trip period, I was very achey and in pain but had talked my through the hardest parts, such as wanting a pill to take away the pain. I just kept telling myself that anything I take other than the Sub will put me a few MILES backwards. I just kept taking tylenol when I really really needed it and switching off to Aleve. So far so good.... lol! On another note, my younger brother has been on Sub for 5 days now and is doing Fantastic!! He was taking all and any kind of painkillers, plus xanax and ambien. The Sub has been as good to him as it has been to me. He has been trying to lower his dosage on xanax, with the help of his Sub Dr., to get completely of that as well. Its great to be able to talk with him about what we both are going through and the wonderfulness of Suboxone. It feels good to know that we are helping each other!! The other three friends who have started taking it as well are all doing fantastic day after day! Before I would state that there were no words to explain how grateful I am for this program, but now I do have words...... ~THANK GOD~ (literally!!)
Anywho... 2 weeks strong and feeling stronger!! God bless to all~

Hi Newbie - 2 weeks is a real milestone - hooray for you. I am so happy that you were able to go camping - have pain and realize you don't have to take heavy pain killers - Tylenol and Aleve will work well enough and let your body recover and heal itself. It can - you know. My son is doing great, too. He is taking 1 1/2 Sub a day and has weaned off of Klonapin completely. He is also taking Aleve as needed. You sound like a very strong soul and I know you are on top of this now. As you say - Thank God! Keep me posted - I like to hear your progress and your friends!

I have personal experience with opoid addiction. I tried methadone treatment before I was 18, only because I had made a fake ID. But the clinicians from the clinic acted as if they knew how young I ws, which ws 16, and I guess their thinking was better for me to be in treatment that getting heroin off the streets. HOWEVER, Methadone is the most difficult drug to kick due to its many half-lives. I did not sleep for 19 days or nights and that was after being detoxed. Methadone is a very wrong way to go. I am now 33 years old and have had 4-5 years of clean times. Suboxone and/or suboxone are being sold on the street in that any non opiate dependant person will get high from it. On the other hand, it can be dangerous to opiate dependants because it has a stronger affinity for binding into the opiate mu receptors inthe body and send someone into a very miserable, and I will say, inhumane state of withdrawal. In other words, they have an agonist and an antagonistic effect. Suboxone contains naltrexone (narcan) as a deterant to I.V. drug users. But if taken sublingually the narcan has no effect. My experience with suboxone honestly has had its ups and downs, but I finally became nearly destitute due to its cost. So UNDER THE STRICT CARE OF A CERTIFIED ADDICTION SPECIALIST, WHO HAS THE LISCENSE TO PRESCRIBE IT, I was able to detox in a safe and comfortable way. The umteenth time I tried, I finally realized how much money I was wasting and declared it over, Dr. Wall in Cal. gave me about $120 worth of free sample subutex and suboxone and WHEN I follow the directions as he prescribed I realized he was right. Another main factor in me cleaning up is that my personal spiritual beliefs just do not cooincide with that old lifestyle anymore. I repented, was baptized in Jesus' name, and filled with the Holy Ghost. I felt the weight of guilt lift as I started to speak in other tongued as the Spirit of God gave the utterance. {Book of Acts chapter 2). I never have to go back to that misery again. I give God all the glory!
