Suboxone Withdrawal: Tramadol Or Doloxene Or Any Better Ideas?

Updated

I have been on 2mg of suboxone for 10 months and have not used any other drugs in this time.(The occasional joint but they dont count!!) I have tapered myself down and in the last week down to .5mg or maybe less of bup and skipping a day here and there. My sleep has been fine but I wake early and feel bit like throwing up if a bad smell hits me and bit of goose bumps and sweating, but not too bad but I normally take bup at this stage. I am going to my dr and was going to ask for some tramal 50mg and tramal sr 200mg to help me through this period. I am all out of bup now and as i was getting off a friend and chemist can not go back on again nor do I want to... after 15 years of heroin abuse I have had enough. I now have non using social supports(otherwise known as friends) a great therapist and actually believe I am a worthy person who deserves a good life and have a social life away from drugs...1st time since primary school!. I know we play the game we feel the pain but with a child to look after I have to be somewhat functional... I expect to feel flat and like not doing much and really just wanted advice on medication I can ask dr for... I dont think my dr can prescribe any benzo... I thought about asking for doloxene and panidine forte to detox myself this way But really not sure... my dr just thinks everyone should stay on bup and ends up using again. My dr knows i am on bup illeagally and has pushed for me to go through chemist. I cannot do this as I work in drug and alcohol and have little knowledge of the detoxing process... I have been on methodone in the past and actually dont remember the detox being hard or bad at all... although I did that detox overseas in a hot country and think being away from home made a huge difference to me. I was only on 40ml of methadone for 10 months again and only ever used methadone with again the occasional joint. i feel strong in my desire not to use just want to still be functional for my child ie cook dinner bath him ect... Any ideas on what medication would be best for this... again I dont expect it to be a walk in the park and I am ok with feeling flat and stuff... I just dont want to be throwing up and s***ting myself... I have heard bup is easier than methadone but the others say methadone is easier to get off.. I suppose this depends on the person...

No, Methadone is the worst to try to get off of and most people never do, they end up staying on a lifetime maintenance dose.

And I have to be honest here, once you've tapered down so far on the Suboxone, if you really want to be drug free, it shouldn't be replaced with anything. The whole point of tapering it is to enable you to become drug free with as little withdrawal symptoms as possible.

If you aren't taking high doses of it, then you aren't going to get the severe withdrawals.

If you use another medication to get off of it, then you'd really just be switching drugs, not getting off of them.

How are you doing with this?

Yeah! Methadone is the WORST!!! I've done every rapid detox in N.J.. They said I may feel "a lil flu like" for a couple days and feel like a new man! I saw it on montell show or something like that and I said "there is my miracle"! Oh yeah. I had a naltrexone implant in my stomach. Two weeks later I'm wanting to cut that damn thing out & go straight bk to the methadone clinic! Don't know if any of you guys out there are addicts LIKE ME but...if u r just starting Methadone or Suboxone, take it as a tool to help you get off the other crap! Cuz I can honestly say it might have saved my life at the time, but, 20yrs later I'm on Suboxone and will be for the foreseeable future! If you just have to take either, I would highly recommend the Suboxone. No highs and lows like the methadone. When I was on methadone I had to have mine in the morning. I felt like crap if I missed a day! I can almost say I forget to take my Suboxone because it's not a constant buzz chase like methadone. Even feel kind of normal! Huh? What? I Know!!!
