It is important to note that a dr observing an allergic reaction like swelling of the throat and tounge is almost always what is required in order to be found allergic to naloxone.

Tawnya, call your state medicaid office or your health plan and ask them for a list of Medicaid Physicians that treat drug addiction. Or you can ask for a list of Medicaid Physicians and cross reference it with the info at the link below. I do not know if the info at the link below is up to date.

I have been seen by a doctor for over a year. How long does Medicaid cover our scripts? Anyone have trouble with always having a prior authorization done every two Months now? I'm stressed. {edited for privacy}. God bless you.

Mason, when medicaid/Hip is covering the script, they have to always do a pre. Auth. and one times it takes a couple days. I think it is the Dr. that the pharmacy has to wait on. That's what they've told me. Here's something good tho. You are allowed to get a 3 days supply while u wait for the pre auth. I have done it before. You have to tell or ask the pharmacy about it. My dr. told me about it. He said to be nice to the pharmacy tech and tell them that my dr. said if I was feeling very ill that I can get my 3 day emergency supply while I wait for the pre auth. The first time I did it the tech said there's no such thing, but there is! Ask to speak with the pharmacy manager if they give u probs. but they can tell u no if ur rude and stuff. Hope that helps. Also just call ur dr office and remind them to order the prev auth. but don't keep bugging.

Brandi, There is a new place taking patients called journey rd. Only open on Wednesdays. It's on 16th and Post. Hip will cover the medicine but u have to pay out of pocket for the visits, it's $300 the first month because u have to go 3x a month at first, then it's $174 a month after that. Which I think is totally worth it. The info on journey rd is in this thread a few threads down or next page. I know another place would also.

Dr Kathleen Whaley is accepting patients, or was when I called last week and got in right away! No wait and no list! I made a $65 deposit and they let me make my appt over the phone! Dr Segal's office told me when I called that it would be 2 weeks to get in and I was fine with that but you have to call every week to let them know u r still interested and so when I did she told me that it was gonna be a month now, and I was okay with that too! Then I called the next week and she said it would be 2 months and so I called the 3rd and final week and she said it would be about 3-4 months now! How in the hell is that possible???!! I asked carol, the receptionist, and she said she was sorry that she over estimated on how long it would be! So that's why I said forget going there and I am going to dr kathleen whaley!! I'm excited for my upcoming appt this week!! I suggest everyone try calling her office! I was going to Indiana health group but dr herod got s*** canned or quit, don't know which one was the truth! So that left 80 patients out on their ass to find a dr! But they did supply us with a script for December and for January but that's it. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful they did that but at the same time, it wasn't our fault that they s*** canned her or quit and the medical director there that was writing our scripts could have very well seen us and treated us cause he was able to write the scripts and sign them and you have to have a special license to do that! So obviously they have the right credentials to treat addiction patients! But oh well! Dr whaley is cheaper and better than Indiana health group! I suggest everyone to dr whaley in fishers, indiana!!

V, the dr has to do the Prior Authorization, all the pharmacy can do is wait. Sometimes it takes more than three days.

I had a question for JsMomma and anyone else currently seeing a Dr. First, I an just wondering how many people have to go to N/A meetings along with their treatment and how often? I wondering if it is just medicaid/Hip that requires this or just depends on the clinics. And same question JsMomma? Does this Dr. require n/a meetings that you are talking about in Fishers? Do they take HIP or is it cash pay for visits and then does HIP cover meds? I guess I can just call lol But I am curious to know about he n/a meetings and why some people don't have to go and then others 3Xs a week.

V, it definitely depends on the dr. I had to when I was at another doctor but never have had to with my current. The only problem is that the drs office had to send labs, clinical info, and confirm the patient is doing counseling. I don't ask questions but mine has got approved without issues. To clarify, hip does require it but they don't technically monitor that it happens

I am not sure about therapy at this place yet but I do know that it depends on the facility you are at. It's totally up to them and how they do things and dr whaleys office is strictly cash pay! They don't accept any insurances at all and I am okay with that. I would rather do it that way anyways.

V, most if not all state Medicaid programs require some type of therapy or counseling if you're being treated for drug addiction.

I have no idea on where to tell you to go cause Cincinnati is a drive, for sure! Now unless you want to drive about 20 minutes north of Indianapolis then you can call dr whaleys office and see if they are still accepting new patients or not. I know they were when I called 3 weeks ago and I have an appt coming up this week and they do give some subutex there cause that's why I'm going there. My tongue and throat swell up and my previous Drs office seen it when they tried putting me on it so she immediately switched me and told me I was allergic to the naloxone in suboxone! But I have known a lot of people that were on methadone that had a HARD time getting switched over to subutex tho! I'm not saying it's impossible and not saying I agree with it, I'm just telling you the expieriences they had with getting switched to subutex. I hope you don't have any problem finding a dr to switch you from methadone to subutex! But you just have to be upfront and Honest with them and tell them you have tried subutex on the street and it takes away the agitation and the headaches! Are there not a lot of places to get subutex in Cincinnati or something? I would think there would be but I could be wrong. The Drs that give subutex are getting far and few between here. The DEA are cracking down on Drs who prescribe it and I don't know why they are doing it to the Drs that are actually having the patient come in every single month, do drug panels every single month and doing therapy or some kind of class at least once a month! I feel like they should leave those Drs alone because they are actually trying to help patients and not just get a kick back off the money from pharmaceutical companies! My last dr was in it for the heart of the work, she actually cared about the patients and loved helping people, but she still either got s*** canned or quit.... Nobody really knows the truth about her that went to the practice...I heard she got s*** canned cause she was too nice and people were walking all over her and telling her they lost their scripts or they got stolen and s*** and she kept replacing them for everyone. I'm not saying it doesn't happen and people don't lose their medicine and that is doesn't get stolen, but come on now.... Who in their right mind LOSES their subutex?! I have mine on me at all times just for the simple fact that I can't trust anyone to just leave it at my house because all it takes is one wrong person finding out you have it and they are gonna break in your house and steal it from you when you aren't home! But I wish you good luck and just run a Google search on dr Kathleen Whaley and call her and see if they are still accepting people or not, that is if you want to drive 20 mins north of Indianapolis to the dr. At first they said she will more than likely bring me back in 2 weeks (even tho i have just been on the subutex due to my dr leaving the practice) just to make sure I am tolerating my medicine well and then I will be monthly. And it's a $65 deposit and then $205 due at the first visit when I first go and then every monthly visit after that is $120 a month, which is pretty cheap around here! I just got lucky and called at the right time cause usually around here if a dr gives subutex then you aren't gonna get in unless they are calling you due to being on a LIST!!! So I just got really lucky with this dr!! But good luck tho! If you have any questions you can just reply and I will definitely write back to you! Have a good weekend!!

Jsmomma23 , the new dr will need a copy of your medical records from your previous dr proving that the allergic reaction is life threatening.
