Suboxone Concerns

Updated

A few months ago I posted some concerns about the medication Suboxone. The side effects I had a few months ago are different now that I have been this drug for nine months. Started at three 8 mgs a day, never could take that much. I only take one 8 mg a day for about a month now. I am concerned, my body constantly hurts, headaches can be unbearable at times, depression can kick in also. This had been a wonder drug for me considering how much my life has changed in such little time, I feel human again. The problems I am having are due to the side effects, fatigue can be overwhelming sometimes. I don't want stay on this drug much longer, I am scared it will mess my brain chemistry up more so than it already is if I continue my dosage. I don't want to relapse and fear coming off of this drug. The pains in my body are killing me and I don't know where is stems from. Anyways, I don't want to keep babbling. If there is anyone who can relate to me or has been through the process I would like some feed back. I don't know what to do. Concerned recovering addict with nine month clean off of pain pills and Heroine. Billy Green

hi concerned, the dr prescribe the high dosage to begin with for a reason and you should obey and not alter the dosage and take less. my son was an addict(heroin) for ten years, and the pains and aches you suffer are know as withdrawal, the dosage you were supposed to have taken initially is a must as that helps to eaze withdrawal body and head aches, as time goes by your dr will decrease dosages, my son iclean now for almost 4 years and he is on a maintenance dosage of .2mg a day. He has a new job, a new life and his mind back, he nealry lost his life the last time he overdosed so we went through very tough times. please stick to your subutex and get busy, work hard, study, but get your mind and body working, its worth it, good luck and know that there are people knowing what u go through! for insomnia, ask your dr to prescribe leponex, but not sleeping tablets, they are taboo!!

Suboxone contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, this is an opiate used to treat severe chronic pain and drug addiction.

You can see if there is a doctor in your area that offers treatment with it at: Suboxone.com Click Here

It does carry some of the same side effects as other opiates, including: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

You can read more about the medication here:

Is there anything else I can help you with?

I hope someone gives oyu the right answer, cause I am living it! I loved it in the beginning, but now I have a child and can't afford the headaches and drowsiness. Now I even get anxiety from it. If my BF would quit, I would too. If you are doing it by yourself and you know you are well.... then quit!! cause it only gets worse!

I havent been on it that lont probably almost a week but i myself have already notice intence headaches .,but aside to that they make me feel human again you know normal i find it better to take then methodone only if you are only gonna take them to kick a old habit. cause all you will be doing is substituding a drug with another one.

I agree that the Subox makes me feel horrible...it was a god send in the first couple weeks of my withdrawals from Oxy...however after that short period the bad side effects from the Subox make it unbearable to take. I don't know what the answer is. What is worse to be hooked to Oxy ...or to be on Subox but feel really bad every day? It is discouraging to say the least...

I'm on suboxone at a V A hospital in Ca. I've been on for a month and I have decided that I want off. At the V.A. program we have groups twice a week plus a doctors meeting to discuss any side effects. I too have killer headaches with dizziness that scares me at times. It seems that I also have alot of muscle / pain, sometimes I feel as if my arm will fl off at the shoulder. I always have dry mouth and dry eyes (they itch alot and haven't been moist even with artificial tears. Aside from that, when I feel like urinating it takes awhile to get started and even longer to stop (I"ll think I'm done but it just keeps on coming. During the doctor meeting, there is a nurse taking down said side effects (she always makes light of the
