I started taking Sofocruz-lp for my hepatitis C (genotype-3) and I am now feeling back and joint pain. Is this a known side effect and is this medicine helpful in treating genotype-3? Please advise.

I am feeling better now. I used Orthowin (ayurvedic) for back pain relief and it helps the most.
Yes, that is what this medication is used to treat and you should take it according to your doctor's instructions. The NIH lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and skin rash.
How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications?
