Sinus Infection

Updated

I have seen many people suffering from sinus, and I have too. I used to go to the doctor every fall with it because it got me down. I quit smoking and still every fall again and again it bothered me. Well I ran across a book called "EAT AND HEAL. in it it told what to eat to avoid certain illnesses. And guess what yogurt, ligumes, wheat germ, wheat bread, and fruits and drinking lots of water. I gave up caffeine for that period of time and drank water. It whipped it. I was amazed at the difference in just a few days. Now when I get that sinus thing I get from allergies, I just add those foods to my diet with lots of water and its one in a couple three days. I eat three bananas a day, and haven't had a cold in 4 years. It works. Try it.

I am glad you've found a solution.

However, I'm curious as to what 'sinus thing' you're referring to?

You mention both allergies and colds, which are unrelated.

With allergies to pollen is mostly what I'm referring to. But it is all sort of linked together. Many people who suffer from hay fever tend to think it it is just a situation of the sinus only due to the onset of pollen. Smoking with that is like adding fuel to the fire. Being around burning leaves can increase the symptoms. But sinus irritation can excelerate with other things as I just pointed out.
Eating dairy foods can aggravate the sinus to a greater degree and increase the flow of mucus. It will stimulate mucus and make it more annoying. Not drinking enough water with a sinus irritation or infection will throw it into a fever situation in a matter of hours or sometimes with some... days, which drinking plenty of water is ever so helpful to avoid it getting worse. Drinking caffeine tends to dehydrate and then can bring on infection which the lack of fluids can simulate an increase of bacteria in the sinus area.
The foods I listed above do help keep. It all revolves around certain vitamins mostly.

I just started taking AMOX/K CLAVXR 1000-62.5 mg SANDOZ for a sinus infection. I was given 40 tablets and directions were to take 2 every 12 hours. No side effects yet. Good advice above. I drink a lot of coffee...I'm switching to water. I have also been drinking protein shakes by Pure Protein. Main ingredients are calcium caseinate, mink protein concentrate and whey protein concentrate. Looks like these could be a problem. Does the doesage I have been prescribed sound correct? The doctor was talking about taking 2 tablets a day, but directions on the bottle are 2 tablets every 12 hours.
