I have a pinkish, round pill with the number 93 on it. What is it and what are the mg? Thanks. ## Are there any additional numbers on the tablet? I'm finding one with the marking of 93 7153 that contains 10mgs of Simvastatin. Another with the marking 93 771 that contains 10mgs of Pravastatin. Do either of these match your tablet? ## There is a 715- some other number I can't read. Maybe a 3 or 4? So I am guessing it is Simvastatin or a generic one. This number is on the back of the side with 93 on it. ## My guess, then, would have to be that it's probably the first one I listed, the Simvastatin with the 93 7153. They are commonly used to help lower cholesterol. They can also cause some severe side effects, like: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and bad joint/muscle aches. Some a...

Hi I'm a 55 year old male and I have been on simvastatin for about 8 years now (40). It has worked wonders with my cholesterol but for the past while, perhaps as much as a year now, I have noticed a steady increase in the frequency of trips to the bathroom especially at night - 3 to 4 times minimum. While I had attributed this to my age lately I have been wondering about my medication. Simvastitin is the only medication I take a d otherwise I am very healthy. Should I be concerned about this? ## Hi, Dan! Sorry about the problem that you're having, that is a lot of times to wake up each night. Considering your age, there is also a good chance that you may be having a prostate issue, frequent urination, especially at night, it is a very common symptom of it. Have you consulted you...

I have been taking simvastatin tabs for 2 months now, choslerol count is good but my trigleride level has increased from taking Vytorin 141 count to taking simvastatin now 232 ## What is the difference between simvastatin and Vytorin.my doctor change my medication from Vytorin to simvastatin 3 months ago. I now have muscle pain in my back and legs. Could this come from the change? ## That is unusual, these medications are generally known to help lower triglyceride levels. What has your doctor advised? Are you watching your diet? Sharon, Vytorin contains Simvastatin with Ezetimibe, so he has just changed you to taking only one of these medications, rather than both. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, joint/muscle aches, and stomach pain. Thus, what you're e...

I've been taking simvastatin for about 4 months and have had a really bad itchy skin reaction, but nothing is relieving it. I do not see this posted as a side effect. Not using grapefruit juice, what else might it be interacting with to cause this great discomfort? ## I've been on simvastatin for over a year. Several months I contracted an itch. My PCP doesn't think it is the medicine, but I do. I feel like bugs are crawling under my skin. I have stopped taking it for a few days and the itch has subsided. I'm going to stay of the pills for a week then try them again and see if the itch comes back. If so, I'm telling my doctor he has to prescribe something else. BTW, I don't drink grapefruit juice. ## Many people just have problems and suffer these types of side e...

I accidentally took a second dose of both my lisinopril/hctz 10-12.5mg and my simvastatin 40mg, only 12 hours after my normal doses instead of a full 24 hours apart. How concerned should I be, and is there anything I should do? ## Hello, Jenn! How are you? Did you experience any adverse effects? My husband was taking generic 40mg Simvastatin made by Accord Healthca. They are oval brick red with S 6 on side 1. Can we cut them in half to get 20mg dose. His Dr wrote a new prescription for 20mg and I hate to waste a half full bottle of the 40mg . ## This can safely be done with any medication that isn't time released, as long as there aren't specific instructions on the label that tell you not to do so. Prescribing a new dosage is just a definite way to make sure the person is getting the correct dose, because when you cut a pill in half, there can be some irregularities, but they are usually miniscule. You may want to try cutting one or two and see how it works. Some pills tend to very crumbly, so cutting results in their falling apart and can make it harder to get the cor...

For about three years there was a "hell" for me to walk because of the side effects from Simvastatin. Got from my doctor in 2008 prescription on Simvastatin, one 10 mg pill / day. My cholesterol at the time measured over 4. After about half a year, the dose was increased to 20 mg since my cholesterol level only increased. At the same time my feet started to hurt but neither the doctor or myself realized that this was Simvastatin connected. At the same time I also got problem with a"spur" under one heal. (How I got rid of the "spur" without surgery, is another story) From the first Simvastatin pill I swallowed, the lips tickled for a minute or two, then it stopped. Now I marvel why did I not respond to this clear signal at the time, but I did not. I had not the ha...
