Side Effects Of Suboxone (Page 8)

Updated

I have been on suboxone now for just under a month. I think it is an amazing drug, i have had no cravings or interest in returning to opiates, my drug of choice was oxy. I get up every day feeling happy, and am able to take on what ever the day brings me. I am also on lexapro for depression at this time. There is one problem after i take my dose, which is 8 mg. twice a day, I am extremely tired sometimes to the point where if i sit down I will nod off, so I keep moving and can usually fight through it. I am wondering do other people feel this way or does it get better the longer you are on it? Two other things that are sometimes very bothersome are dizzyness and extreme dry mouth. I just wanted to find out other peoples experiences. Thanx

After 8 years of suboxone usage, to quit cold turkey was a massive mistake on my part. I am still feeling the PAWs on day 20 of being clean. Its just horrible.

But yeah i'm worried about getting less n less then none at all. Any advice??

Hi withdrawal from suboxone is a b****. Am watching my partner going through hell coming off it. He's been 2/3 months off it and symptoms are no better after being on suboxone for 3 years. He's lost his willpower n motivation to do anything.

Im almost 30 days clean, and the PAWS keep getting worse. I am fairly ok during the day, but the restless leg and insomnia are absolutely intolerable. Im taking Tryptophan, and Tyrosine, and Valerian Root, but only been on them for 2 days now. Not helping at all yet. Cold sweaty hands during the day is about as bad as it gets during the day, its just night time, 0 sleep, toss and turn all night. Not even 15g of Melatonin helps. Pretty sad.

They say in my natural healing book, that Amino Acids are the key. That Tyrosine helps rebuild the neurotransmitters in the brain, and that the Tryptophan helps lift the depression after a few weeks of being on it 3 times a day. The key is the Tyrosine, so it says. Again, Ive only been on these for 2 days, and am on day 26 of being clean, after 8 straight years on 6mg of suboxone a day. Its been the worst 26 days of my 50 year life.

Hey...yes. very proud. I was a heroin addict for 16 years. By the time I got on Suboxone, I was using 180mg of oxy plus anything up to a gram of heroin on top. I have been on 32mg of Sub for two years now...why so high a dose??? Because I know that heroin can knock sub off the receptors...using a high dose, I know I can't knock it off no matter how much I use. I a month, I'm starting to reduce the oxy. I think I'm safe enough now to be on 4-8mg per day...yes, very proud...

Very nice. 7 more days, and I will be on day 60 of being clean of everything, except vitamins :) And I could not imagine 32mg of suboxone per day. Thats insane... I know they say its not the amount of suboxone you take, but rather how many years you have been on it. But after hearing how much you were taking, Im blown away. For me, the only issue Ive had the past 50 days, Is that I cannot stop sneezing. Though its down to about 10-12 times a day now, I was up around 30 sneezes per day after I stopped suboxone. The yawning has finally vanished though, and Im grateful for that. I really do feel like I did 8+ years ago before I started taking suboxone, and before all the pain killers. I feel like a normal human being. I didnt need any meetings though I am sure it would have been alot easier for me if I had gone, but I was too sick. I never ever recommend anyone quitting cold turkey like I did. I just did not have a choice at the time, as the $ ran dry, and suboxone is expensive, as well as the doctor visits. Though $ is no longer an issue, I will never as long as I live on this earth, take suboxone, or any other pain meds again. And I feel great.

Your story is awesome, azumpire! Hope when the time comes I have enough self will and strength to rid myself of all these toxins too! BTW, anytime I came off anything I sneezed like it was high pollen season too. Can you give me the details about coming off it? I'm currently weaning but my finances may not support the subs and appts plus with this great new Obamacare instead of paying next to nothing for insurance, we'll be paying 300 a month, so that plus payment associated with my subs equals 700.00 a month....ikr. But yeah, I'd like to hear about your experience in case I have to go through it too :/

Well, the best piece of advice I can give you, so you do not have to go thru the days of hell like I did, is continue weaning/tapering. If you do that, and get down to 0.5 or 0.25mg per day of suboxone, you will not have to deal with PAWS, and very very limited withdrawls if any. I did it the wrong way, cold turkey, but I had no choice. When you cannot afford the doctor visit, nor the suboxone anymore, there is no other choice. It was 100x worse than anything I had ever experienced in my life. So do it right with the tapering. And start taking the 3 amino acids once you get down to 1/2mg per day of suboxone. I realize everyones body chemistry is different, but you have to start rebuilding those neurotransmitters in your brain that have been getting surpressed by the opiates/suboxone. In my case is was 8 years worth, which is why I experienced PAWS for so long. Actually, 34 days worth is hardly anything compared to the 8 years I was on sub. I was told it would take me maybe a year for the PAWS to finally go away. But because of the amino's, vitamins, and protein powder, I was able to make the PAWS go away much quicker. As for obamacare my family and I will not be signing up. We will pay the fine, as we have had enough hope and change for the last 5 years.

Im tired of the hope and change as well, unfortunately we are mandated to purchase insurance if offered through our employer. We're paying nothing, then under Obamacare, five dollars a week which was still great for anthem. Now starting with the 300 a month. Yay...thanks for the advice though, I'm going to keep all that in mind! I've only been on about fifteen months now and should be done before the minimum of two years. I've been into holistic treatment since I was a teenager and avoided most western medicines and it served me well until I became addicted to prescription opiates. I've always found chamomile tea helped a lot with the anxiety, restlessness and sleep deprivation. Try a cup a day, it's proven to assist in mood swing and depression treatment, which most of us suffer from anyway and even worse when trying to remove these substances from our bodies.

You said, "still great for Anthem" ? As in Ahthem Arizona? And as far as the chamomile tea, yes, I was taking that during those first 34 days, and though it relaxed me, there was nothing at that time that was helping me sleep, except that Trazadone, which I finished up with in 2 weeks. After that, I still could not sleep, not even 40-60MG of Melatonin worked. It was just awful. Guess my brain just shut down and quit producing Seratonin. Anyhow, at day 34, and I remember it well, it was the first time in about 34 days that I got a full 8 hours sleep. Before that it was 1 maybe 2 hours at a time, if I was lucky. Now life is back to normal, and I thank God for that

Hi, I can't believe you quit cold turkey. you're very brave. If I go even one day w/o my suboxone, I feel like crap. I've been on suboxone for about eight years and am worried about when I have to come off of it, going through withdrawal from it.

I was just referring to blue crosd anthem, but good news I just found out that work is actually picking up the costs so FREAKING YAAAY. A lot less to worry about now. Sleeplessness was always the worse coming down...especially since all you really want to do is sleep through the withdrawals. .. Keep us updated about your progress. I would love if you posted the exact stuff you took and why, it would help a lot of us out! Did you do any detoxing to try and speed it out of your system at all??

My husband has been on suboxone for 2 years and had to start taking testosterone because it was tanking his levels. Good luck!

8 years? You are the first person Ive seen on the internet that has been on suboxone as long as I was. 8 years of suppressing your brains neurotransmitters "can" cause a nuclear change in the function of the way your brain operates. Not saying this is the case with everyone, but it was enough to scare me straight again.

I received a 21 page report document from a doctor in Florida, regarding the long term effects of suboxone, and if you would like to read it, you can email me at {edited for privacy}. As for me, tomorrow is 60 days clean, and I cannot tell you how great I feel. Hopefully you can be back to that state again one day soon.

Diane I have been on subs for 7 mo. keep taking your prescribed dose. I to get tired but luckily I don't work. I too take Lexapro seems to work ok. I was eating prescribed ox I was insufflating and eating them for 3 years' never got enough always thought I needed more .thankfully I got kicked out of the clinic because I kept running out and it showed neg. on drug results. I was taking 300mg a day. For dry mouth I use hard candy and cough drops. Latter down the line id start taking whatever dose that would stop the cravings. Don't stop taking the meds without a drs.help its hell kicking subs.Done this before and it was the worst.Sounds like you are doing well don't let anybody tell you you've traded one addiction for another. You are able to function. Hope it works for you and remember it's Better than being on the other drugs. PEACE KP

The reason you don't have cravings for opiates ... could it be that you '' had enough '' ? ... Subuxone is Methadone & Naltraxone combined in one pill ( the percentage of the antagonist is much smaller than the % of Metha ) ... The only way to stop opiates is ... to stop opiates. Taking methadone to stop opiates addiction is like putting out fire with petrol , since Methadone is an opiate ... naltraxone is a antagonist ( some say what a stupid idea , many have gone back to H use, due to this cocktail ... or so they say). I have been on methadone for +5 years and feel worse than when I was on H , much worse ...

Your diet (after a detox of opiates ...) is the key to total recovery. It takes anything up to 10 years to totally recover ' Brain normal functions, with a proper diet ... there is a book by one of the doctors that was a pioneer in opiates detox, using Methadone, that says '' if I could turn back time, I would never had used Methadone to fight a opiate addiction ... '' ... but more than likely you will not be able to find this book on sale anywhere ... try Pirate Bay , it's in there in .PDF format ( Molecular Neurobiology of Addiction Recovery.pdf )

Good luck (you will need it...) on your recovery.

I an fully in agreement with you on the diet issue. But up to 10 years to return brain function and rest of your body to normal? That is an awful long time. Though I fell 100% now, some things are definitely different now. While on Suboxone, I did not listen to any music whatsoever for 8 years. 0, mostly just talk radio. Now, its like I cant get enough of it. Its strange. Though my depression is 100% gone, my restless leg is 100% gone, and my horrific insomnia is 100% gone, some things are certainly different. The music as I said, and my appetite is out of control. Gained 30lbs being off suboxone, but far from overweight. 6ft2 and 195lbs. Those are probably the 2 biggest changes. I know that music, and vanilla extract help to produce/re-create the endorphines in your brain, since the tons that were lost during suboxone use. And taking L-Tyrosine is just part of answer. Without enough endorphines present, its impossible for L-Tyrosine, and the other 2 or 3 amino acids to work properly. The lifesaver for me as far as depression was concerned, was the L-Tryptophan. I took it for a month, and then was done with it, and my depression was 100% lifted. Anyways, I need to work on eating better foods. I did good for awhile, but now went back to the fast food garbage, since Im on the road alot.
