Severe Mood Swing
UpdatedI have been on Neurontin for about 2 months now and it is helping my chronic pain, however... I am having terrible mood swings. I'm already dealing with depression and anxiety (which is currently untreated due to a ridiculous wait time for an appointment). I haven't been without pain for years and while i'm enjoying that, I'm ruining my life and friendships with my mood swings. Should I stay on it until I see a psychiatrist or should I stop taking them immediately. I am having SI that occur more than daily and i'm scared that one of these times it won't be an idea, but an attempt. Please help.

I should mention that I'm only taking 300mg at bedtime.
Based on my research, it certainly seems as though the side effects of Neurontin (Gabapentin) are directly relating to your anxiety, mood swings, and even abnormal thought patterns as your described them.
You can view a list of possible side effects here:

Depending on how much you feel you need the pain relief, it may be a good idea to stay on it until you see or speak with your doctor or psychiatrist for any further instructions.
In the meantime I think it would help if you surrounded yourself with positive minded people who can help lift your spirits and calm your nerves whenever you are feeling uneasy. I'd even go so far as letting close family and friends know about your personal situation so they can be of better assistance to your needs when you are around them. During your time of transition, these relationships could prove be a life saver as long as your honest and open about what it is you're going through.
Have you been open to trying any natural options as well?
