I am in rehab at the moment and have tested 3 times for benzos but im only on Seroquel, Lyrica and Methadone. I have heard that Seroquel can test positive for benzos and need to know if this is true. Im going to lose my son if I dont get this cleared up and I HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY BENZOS!! ## I have looked up information on this, as well as a listing of what drugs can cause false positives and no, there is no scientific proof, anywhere, that Seroquel can give a false positive for Benzodiazepines. I have also double checked the Lyrica and Methadone and neither of those will do it, either. I'm sorry, have you tried asking them more specifics about the test? Do you know what type of test they are doing? Have you taken anything else? Please post back and let me know, even if it was just so...

My fiance just starting taking 25mg of seroquel but she also takes viibryd and tylenol on a regular basis. Since the start of taking the seroquel she has gotten a high fever and her doctor said something about serotonin syndrome. Can anyone help to explain this to me or the risk factors very worried about her. ## Hello, Matt! How are you? Serotonin syndrome occurs when someone is taking too many medications or supplements that increase the levels of serotonin in the brain, it doesn't happen to everyone, but when it does, it can be fatal if not treated. However, I've not found anything in the interactions databases that state it has been known to happen with Seroquel and Viibryd, but I am not a doctor, so it would be best to trust them on it. Has she had any other symptoms? How h...

Is a dosage of 400 mg of seroquel too strong? Only taking 1 makes a family member sleep in a near coma-state? Also seeing some labored breathing. Should we go to a hospital for that? ## Hello, Jennie! How are you? It could be too strong of a dose for them. The sleeping isn't a major concern, because that usually tends to improve, once their body gets used to the medication, but that may take 4 to 5 weeks. However, the labored breathing is something that should be addressed by their doctor. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. Are they on any other medications? ## Yes, she was prescribed 800 mg of Seroquel but only takes one per day because sleeping so much. She is also prescribed...

hi, I've been taking quetiapine now for a number of years. I started out taking the extended release version of the drug for a couple of years, then was switched to the standard version around three years ago, as I suffer from insomnia, and cannot get to sleep without some kind of assistance, even where I haven't slept for days. I'm on 800mg per day, with 300 being taken during the day, and the remaining 500 being taken in the evening time. I suffer with paranoid type schizophrenia, and I do find that taking seroquel seems to keep the psychotic symptoms reduced to a manageable level. However, I've been suffering with side effects that include seizing up, where my whole body seems to contract, which can be extremely painful, I find breathing becomes a problem, and I can b...

Can anyone help me? I am tortured by my lack of sleep, i would be very greatful if there is anyone in san diego that could provide me with some seroquel. I am afraid to go to the doctors and be diagnosed with bi polar, out of fear that it could affect my profession. Hopefully well talk soon.Rich. Editor's note: Contact information has been removed. Sorry, but we do not allow or promote any illegal methods of sales. ## What else have you used to try to remedy your insomnia problem? Seroquel, which is most commonly used to treat Schizophrenia is not the first choice to treat insomnia, nor is it the only option. Additionally, even if you see a doctor and are diagnosed as bipolar, or as having some other condition, it is none of your employers business, unless it affects your work in som...

Hi there, I have been taking 25mg of seroquel nightly since 2002 or 2003 and am finding it really hard to fall asleep. Ive been wiening myself off it as per doctors instructions (only having half a tab per night. I had my last half last Tues & hav had bad insomnia every since have only slept a few hrs some nights. Absolutely none most nights so am wondering how long this is gunna last? :( Thank you ## Hello, Tina! How are you? I'm sorry about your insomnia. That is a typical withdrawal effect, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, foggy headed feeling, diarrhea and rebound depression. It may take a month for the symptoms to entirely go away, though they should gradually improve and not be as severe. Is there anything else I can help with?

I'm on all these is it safe to take them 150 milligrams of wellbutrin, 500 of seroquel, 2 to 5 milgrams of lorazpan, and 7.5 nil grams of mirtazapine ## Have they all been prescribed for you? Most of these tend to increase sedation, so you shouldn't combine them, without your doctor's approval. The Wellbutrin can also increase the effect of the Mirtazapine, so your doctor should be monitoring you regularly, while taking them both. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, sedation, dry mouth and weight changes. The Lorazepam also carries the risk of being habit forming.

possibly antidepressant ## My fiance is currently taking Feroquel and I am curious about the medication. Is it like Xyprexa and does it have to build in your system before it fully takes into effect? Also, is it possible to get anything prescribed for as a mood stabilizer? Please I need facts. ## I believe the medication you are referring to is Seroquel. Most medications will take a few weeks to reach their full effect in your body. As to a mood stabilizer, there are some medications for that, but he would need to consult with his doctor about them and see if they are appropriate. ## I took one of these pills today and I got super sleeping within an hour. Maybe I have been running on fumes the last couple of days. But it diffidently had an affect.

My father has been on Seroquel for about 3 weeks for bi-polar disorder. He also has occasional bouts with paranoia. He will occasionally get very angry/agitated and lash out at family members. He still occasionally shows signs of paranoia. In other words, it at first appeared these symptoms were improving, but are still recurring. For those that have taken this drug for something similar, is this to be expected? Thanks for any guidance. ## Hello, Will! How are you and your father? It usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks for such a medication to reach its full level of efficacy. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, somnolence, weight gain and headache. It's fairly typical for this to happen, while someone's body is getting used to the medica...

I quit seroquel 5 months ago for several reasons (was addicted to it and not seeing a doctor so I was getting it on the streets, it messed with my head and my heart rate, and of course the weight gain.) I was a good 125lbs ish when I started. 2 years later I'm 160lbs. Seroquel never really made me hungry or overeat, but I slept a good 14 hours a day and spent my time awake lying around because I was so tired. Having quit it though, along with being homeless, I walk quite a lot and barely get to eat. But after 5 months I can't even shed 5lbs. The next best thing I can do diet wise is literally starve myself I am already eating so little, and I already do not eat junk food, so I'm really confused and actually pretty depressed by my weight. I know seroquel is behind my dilemma,...

Can I take methocarbam if I take seroquel at night ## Hello, Daisy! How are you? You shouldn't take them both, unless your doctor has said it's okay, because they can both increase sedation. The FDA classifies Methocarbamol as a muscle relaxant and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and drowsiness. Seroquel's typical side effects may possibly include dry mouth, dizziness, headache, drowsiness and sedation. Have they both been prescribed for you?

It's oval shaped, big ole horse pill. Someone said it's Seroquel but I can't find anything about it. L on one side R on the other. ## Hello, Regina! How are you? The marking is actually intended to be R 7. This tablet is manufactured by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and they list it as containing 400mgs of Quetiapine, which is a generic for Seroquel. The FDA classifies this medication as an atypical antipsychotic. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, somnolence and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can anyone help. My husband started taking seroquel some 7 years ago and at first the side effects were awful. Since then I have slowly seen him disappear. He used to be very affectionate and we were a close couple. Now he never hugs, has lost his sensitive side altogether, has a terrible memory and is generally disconnected from me and the kids. He's like a shell of the man he used to be. He doesn't see it. ## My husband is exactly the same way, he's here but he's not, you cannot touch him, he's more paranoid, always scratching head at night, twirling the blanket until he falls asleep, you nailed it, he is here, but he is not like he use to be, no affection, not sensitive, personality not there, he does not no this, I had to go to counseling to feel better, but now ...

i have a partially used bottle of seroquel 100mg that expired on 1/15/15. is it still suitable to use? today's date is 3/4/15. ## Hi Jiffy, According to two different articles - one from Harvard University and the other from LA Times, many medications remain good for up to 10-40 years past the listed expiration date, depending on the substance and how it's stored...I don't have a complete list of these exact medications, nor do I encourage taking something that's been expired for quite some time - but seeing as your medication is less than two months old, my opinion is that it should have most if not all of its efficacy still intact. A close friend of mine has been taking Seroquel for about a year now and I think her current dosage is around 400-600mg/day. This drug was prescribed to her to treat anxiety and for sleep issues. I have spent time with her after she has taken this medication and its horrible. She acts like she is drunk. She has almost no short-term memory and forgets things she talked about just moments before. She slurs her words and becomes rather uncoordinated. And she has no recollection of what she said or did the following day. She has developed such a dependency that she is now taking the Seroquel late in the afternoon, is in bed by 7pm and will sleep for 10+ hours. She has tried drugs like Cymbalta and Lyrica with no effect. From what I have researched, prescribing Seroquel for anxiety is rather...

Dcfs is on my case and I have to do random drug screenings. I took Seroquel, will I fail the urine test? What will it show up as? And how long does it stay in your system? ## Seroquel contains the active ingredient Quetiapine, it is most commonly used to treat Schizphrenia and Bipolar Disorder. If you have a prescription for it, you should inform them of this, when you are tested, because it has been known to cause false positives for Amphetamines. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Hey I took seroquel 50mg lastnight and I got to do a drug test in the morning. Will it read a positive result ## I failed my drug test showed positive for amphetamines 5 days after I started taking 300mg per day of SEROQUEL

Can Seroquel 50mg be taken together with pax 10 mg ## Yes, unfortunately these class of medications (anti-psychotics) do carry the side effect of weight gain. These meds actually slow down your metabolism causing weight gain. If you are using it for sleep which is what a lot of us are prescribing it for, so as to not get you hooked on sleeping pills. These meds side effect of sleepiness is why we use this even if you're not psychotic. Try breaking one in half with a knife and try using just half. Whatever you do if you are taking them every night you DO NOT stop taking this medication before speaking with your doctor first. Abrubt stopping of these meds could cause seizures and other problems you will have to be titraited from the drug if you so choose. It is a good drug for occasio...
