Self Detox At Home With Suboxone

After 31 months in a state correctional facility (for a non violent crime/ misdemeanors) I was released. I started taking Suboxone 8mg and have been since May 2011. I wanted to stop taking them but I knew the detox was not going to be easy and they don't really have a detox for suboxone except for Methadone and I do not ever want to go down that road again. I relapsed 14 day's ago and started shooting dope and have not taken a sub since. I'm going to now attempt to detox myself off the dope with suboxin. Today I ate 1 lorcet and one and a half vicodin and still feel sick. It has only been maybe an hour since I ate the vicodin and will wait awhile to take another. Tonight before bed around 10pm I will take another half of vicodin and tomarrow around 10am I will take a piece of 8mg Suboxone. And I will continue to take less suboxone everyday for the next 3 day's and on day 4, I will take nothing. I'm just hoping that when I take the suboxone tomorrow it don't throw me into a worse detox. Anyone know how many hours I should wait to be safe taking the suboxone?

Based on my research, Vicodin (Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen) has a half-life of 3.8 hours. This means that 3.8 hours after the last dose, half of the original dose is still present and active in the body. After an additional 3.8 hours (or 7.6 hours total), half of what was left after the first 3.8 hours is present and active--one-quarter of the original dose

Most pharmacists consider that after 3-5 "half-lives," close to 90% of the drug has been eliminated and is no longer affecting the body. The maximum wait to achieve five half-lives for Vicodin would be:

5 x 3.8 = 19 hours.

However, it would probably be less, closer to 11-12 hours.
That means that you should be safe to take the Suboxone after 11-19 hrs.

My question is a friend of mine has been on 80mg of methadone daily for two years, she took it while pregnant and has breastfeed for the last 11 months of baby's life but is getting ready to switch to suboxone so should she be worried the baby will go into detox once she makes the switch? She has no intentions of stopping breastfeeding but is worried the switch will harm baby any input would be greatly appreciated

Dear Mr. Crowley, b 4 u take the suboxone, u need 2 make sure u r in full withdrawals. Everyone is different and it takes certain amount of hours 4 different people. The main thing is wait until u r totally withdrawing. Then , it will work properly and u won't have any problems. GOOD LUCK! Trust me.

Hi Ms piggy, Your friend really should ask a doctor this question to be 100% sure. I do know that sub drs. will switch a patient to subutex if they become pregnant.
I wouldn,t take a chance if it were my child. I,d ask a doctor. There are some goverment agencies in phone book if you look in the blue page section that gives free advise over the phone. If your friends parnoid about using her own phone to call she could use a pay phone if she can find one nowadays.

like others have said, you really need to be in pretty good withdrawals before you start subutex or suboxone. try to wait as long as you possibly can because you DO NOT want those precipitated withdrawals. i know from personal experience. i took my subutex too soon after using H and went into the worst w/d EVER. hope everything works out for you.
