I am taking perscription cough syrup with codiene and took some hydrocodone recreationally and wondered on a 5 panel saliva test, will they both just show up as an opiate? or is there a differance in the two?

I have been taking pain pills on and off for about 6 mos and smoke green pretty often, if i dont use any of the above for a week and drink lots of cranberry juice and take a detox drink before, will i pass.. not sure what testing they are gonna do...i imagine a piss test..any help

Curious how it turned out for your daughter.

I will editorialize now and wonder why on Earth people are being drug tested to work in a grocery store or Wendys flipping burgers?

When this drug testing crap started in the 80's it was for airline pilots, train engineers and truck drivers. Since then it has expanded to basically every frickin job in the US of A.

If anyone ever tells you the "slippery slope" argument is fallacy, here is your proof right here that it exists. I tried to warn people back then that this is what would end up happening. Give up an inch of rights and these fascists will take the WHOLE RIGHT.

I gave my daughter 1/2 of a 5-425 hydrocodone tablet on Thursday afternoon. Never took one before but had horrible body pain from cold. Then Friday she was called for saliva drug test Saturday morning. She is being tested to work in a grocery store. I feel terrible, is it possible she will pass this test??

saliva tests do test for hydrocodone and it is different that codeine. weather or not he will test positive is a question that cant be answered based on the sensitivity of the test and his metabolism are all outside factors that can not be determined by the information given... i know the half life of hydrocodone is 4-6 hours sounds like it was 12hr to the druge test so he probably still had an 1/8 to a 1/4 dose in his system.. i hate to be the barren of bad news but i would say he will probably test positive and since it was not his prescription id say you guys are f***ed and i have delt with drugs labs in the past they are f***ing a**holes... im not a doctor just a huge nerd that reads alot and have casted a couple stones in my day

My Husband took a Lorcet 7.5mg lastnight around 9pm and it was my Lorcet from dental surgery I had done a couple weeks ago, he took it due to pain in his shoulder,and when he arrived to work this morning he was picked for a random drug test and took the test around 10am, he weighs about 150lbs, we are on pins and needles wondering if the Codeine will show up on the test!!! Any Suggestions???

this is a hard question as it depends on how much codeine was taken how often the weight and metabolism of the individual.. here are some stats i found from the Center for Human Toxicology, University of Utah, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology this was done it 1999 so it's a little old but should still be relevant.. the participants were given 30mg of liquid codeine
theses are all in nanograms per milliliter in saliva and if you know the brand name of test test you are taking the company should list the cut off limits for getting a positive result.. i took an oral eze for my pre employment and the cut off is 30ng/ml in saliva.. this is just one brand of tests and every test will vary in cut off limits some will be higher some will be lower

0.25hr 4129 ng/ml in saliva
0.5hr 1172 ng/ml in saliva
1hr 480 ng/ml in saliva
2hr 154 ng/ml in saliva
4hr 60 ng/ml in saliva
6hr 36 ng/ml in saliva
8hr 19 ng/ml in saliva
10hr 11 ng/ml in saliva
12hr 7 ng/ml in saliva
24hr 0 0 NA

I took 1 pill of 5mg Norco yesterday afternoon and I'm taking a saliva drug test tomorrow morning at 8 am I need to know if this will show up on my drug test I'm not a regular user so I hope that helps me. Can you please help.

It really depends on how sophisticated the drug test is. Some drug tests (whether it be saliva, urine, or hair) can detect the exact substance in question, while others may not even be able to differentiate between the basic structures of Hydrocodone and Codeine.

In any event, if you have a false positive or are accused of a misreading. I would suggest getting re-tested with a gas chromatograph mass spectrometer. It has the ability to distinguish the exact substances in question. This type of testing is not initially performed because of cost, but, is often a follow-up option for those facing serious consequences such as a job loss or jail time.
