Refilling My Valid Xanax Prescription Early (Page 24)

I only see one doctor and he gives me a 3 month supply of xanax. When I went the last time he wrote me out a prescription but I still had two refills. I had a friend and her husband passed away and I gave her some of mine thinking I would have no problem re-filling the prescription. I had sense enough not to go to the same pharmacy and not to give my insurance information. So I go to this small drug store by my house and I had to fill out paperwork such as dob, name and my DL #. Well they paged me to the front of the store and advised me that it was 7 days to early for them to re-fill. So my question is where can I go to re-fill a prescription that is valid written by the same doctor. I only tried one place, I'm guessing they must have a data base if you try and refill your prescription early (even without your insurance) does anyone have advice on where I can go to get this filled?

I Believe it's 5 refills or 6 months from the date the Rx is written. Xanax is a schedule C-IV ( except in 3 states where a reclassification was to a C-II CDS ) drug.For confirmation purposes it's always best to consult a trusted local pharmacy.

Hi BL, WOW!! I knew there was changes, five days incremental dosing. ****In regards to the dosing, you are right. Complaining to ones doctor that certain doses doesn't work. Should make a doctor D/C the meds. Instead some keeps upping the dosage way pass the safe zone dose.

Always, do you happen to know those 3 States offhand with different regulations. Southern States if I'm not mistaken

I feel you I know what you are going thru and later on down the road you will hopefully look back on it and realize that six milligrams of Alprazolam is extremely a very large dose and if one day you find yourself without it and then by the third or fourth day without it you're going to wish you were dead. I promise you that. Please do yourself a favor and try to wean yourself off of it. I am not a professional but I am someone that has been down the road all my life with Xanax and if I knew 22 years ago what I know now I never would have touched it and I say this from the bottom of my heart because I know what a horrible ride it can be when you run out after taking 6 milligrams a day. Please do yourself a favor get yourself some help there's other alternatives. I finally got from 6-8 milligrams a day down to .5 3x a day and I can guarantee you it was not an easy Road. I wish you the very best

I almost died when I went from another Benzo, hated it and stopped. Somehow in the days since finding myself in the ER, not only have I cut down by 33% (from 3 mg to 2 mg), I had my attending Hospital physician become my regular physician and provided me with many extras. Since I do not want to take more the extras remain available (I try and rotate my supply) and have no need to worry where my next dose will come from. Everybody, cut down or slowly taper from Xanax if you can, before its too late!

Usually the pharmacy will fill it if it is different RX , say you are taking oxycodone 10mg and rhe Dr changes it to oxycodone 20 mg, they should fill it. Check,around some pharmacy's are not as strick, go to a mom and pop pharmacy not a big chain like walgreens or CVS.........

Pudman, if you are speaking about an Opioid and your Doctor just writing them on demand without an appointment, well this is truly poor medicine, long standing patient or not. About Xanax, its the original fill plus 5 refills if we are speaking monthly. Anything else would exceed the 6 months

Seriously?!? How are u a nurse?!? You're either lying or some patients are going to be in big trouble I'm a nurse and going to college to become a physician asst. I work with every med. You obviously need to do some research so you don't kill someone. This forum is about Xanax, which you should know is not a freaking opioid. Also no one asked for your unfortunately wrong opinion or any opinion. They know not to use other ppls meds, but its reality. If you were a nurse you'd know it's what happens everyday. So maybe answer the question they asked... as if you know the answer or don't post at ALLLLL!!!! NO LECTURES WANTED. ENJOY YOUR DAY..... WOW!!!!

Weather it's a valid script not the point the point is u gave yours away which is illegal and now your short why do you feel you should be able to fill it three months means you still have to make a months worth last a month 28 days is usually acceptable

Lee, a doctor can write a prescription for Methadone if it is for chronic pain. A doctor can Not write a prescriptiion for Methadone if it is for the treatment of drug addiction.

I also agree that it is not good to share your meds with anyone, but to add a response to your question, everyone is right that it's up to the insurance company how early you can fill them but a little secret alot if you might not know is that you can get something called a vacation overide, if you call your insurance comany and tell them your going away they will approve a refill I belive 5 days early, I'm sure they are all different but mine was 5 days, you can only do this once a year. You have to call the insurance Co not the pharmacy, then when the pharmacy tries to put it thru it works once they do the overide in the system.

Lee, that is not how it works in 2017. My Insurance will pay after 75% of the supply is used up and my pharmacy has no problem filling it early. When it comes to scheduled controlled medicine you can't get it filled early, why Rite Aid makes me come back on the last possible day. They just fired the Store Manager and the Pharmacy Manager and I would like them to just turn off the lights. Even then I wouldn't need to really obtain more controlled medicine for about 3 years, long story Lee!

BL I never said it was for addiction, I have several issues that require pain management. I was on it for pain control, which it worked great for as long as you take it as prescribed it really works, you don't feel dizzy or lightheaded, you can function like your not even taking anything.

Leem Sorry for misunderstanding. Do you have a copy of your medical records from your previous doctor ? It is highly doubtful you are going to find a doctor that will prescribe Methadone in the beginning. Each doctos has their own way of prescribing. Your medical records should prove you have a medical condition that might require opiates for pain. But, a previous doctor prescribiing you a particular med does not mean another doctor will.

It is best to not ask a doctor to prescribe a particular drug because it is a red flag for drug seekers.

Yes BL, I have years of of records, I was with the same dr for about 6 years, he was great but the dea started coming down on him so he had to cut me. I understand but it's so hard to find another dr to write it, and of course you can't just walk in and ask for a particular medication, especially Methadone that throws up a huge really flag, but I just can't go back to all these other medications that make me feel loopy or nausea, so I stay in pain hoping one day I will find a new dr :)

You have to wait there is no more Doctor shopping any doctor from what I understand can only give you a three month supply and it's only 90 pills within 30 days

Lee, If a doctor prescribes Methadone, you will have to start with other drugs before they will prescribe Methadone anyway. Seems like it might be better than going without anything for pain. The longer you go without pain meds, the less you will need to manage your pain. Depending on how long you have been off of Methadone, other meds might work better than they did before.
