Refilling My Valid Xanax Prescription Early (Page 21)

Updated

I only see one doctor and he gives me a 3 month supply of xanax. When I went the last time he wrote me out a prescription but I still had two refills. I had a friend and her husband passed away and I gave her some of mine thinking I would have no problem re-filling the prescription. I had sense enough not to go to the same pharmacy and not to give my insurance information. So I go to this small drug store by my house and I had to fill out paperwork such as dob, name and my DL #. Well they paged me to the front of the store and advised me that it was 7 days to early for them to re-fill. So my question is where can I go to re-fill a prescription that is valid written by the same doctor. I only tried one place, I'm guessing they must have a data base if you try and refill your prescription early (even without your insurance) does anyone have advice on where I can go to get this filled?

Well that was true until Obamacare. Many have no premium plans, including co pays and deductibles, at least here in California. Good to hear that will all be changed soon!

Medicaid is not "welfare" insurance. Help for the poor is not welfare in the tone that it was obviously being used. As a disabled person, I get Medicare and medicaid. I don't consider myself living off "welfare." I found the tone extremely insulting.

75% of the residents in my town claim to be disabled and are on welfare. No matter what you call it, its Welfare!

pudman56, you paid into Medicare when you were working. Medicare is Not welfare insurance. The Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help for those that are low income and receiving Medicare to help with their Medicare Premiums, co/pay and deductibles is Medicaid. Medicaid is paid for by the tax payers that are working. Medicaid is welfare.

You really don't know what qualified Pudman for both programs? Also Food Stamps, Housing, Spending Money, Utility assistance, and fully subsidized medical can be available

EDDY, I know what the criteria is for those that receive Medicare and Medicaid.

pudman56 receives Medicare because he/she has been found disabled by SSA and he/she has paid in enough to Social Security in a specific time frame Or because he/she is at least 65 and he/she or someone they are a dependent of paid in enough to Social Security.. pudman56 receives Medicaid through Medicare Savings Program because they and their spouse if they are married are low income and have low resources.

Medicare is not Welfare because you or someone you are a dependent of has worked and paid into Medicare. Medicaid is welfare because it is paid for by the tax payers.

When someone receives Medicare and Medicaid, Medicaid pays their monthly Medicare Premiums, co/pays and deductibles. The amount of assistance received from Medicaid depends on income. They may also qualify for Extra Help, which is also paid for by Medicaid. When someone has Extra Help in 2016 they paid no more than $2.95 for each generic and $7.40 for each brand-name covered drug.

I have extreme anxiety and chronic back pain in the state of N.J. it is extremely hard right now to get my prescriptions filled for the right dosage and amount. The doctors are all afraid of losing their licenses and are either cutting the amount you get or not writing them at all...This is so ridiculous, what they are creating is people going to illicit drugs cause it's cheaper and easier to get then they become society's problem ...Wake up NJ you are going to be fighting a huge opiate epidemic from working class people who otherwise would have never used this drug and frankly I don't blame them. They really better change their laws quickly or they are going to have huge problems in this state. Let the doctors do their jobs without being afraid of losing their license. I had two extremely great jobs and they cut my meds in half I'm at my wit's end cause I'm ready to do things I normally would have never thought of doing until now. I know many others in the same boat. I'm telling you wake up pain management before you have a legal suit against you. Did I fail to mention after 13 years they cut my meds in a day from 5 to 2 this is outrageous...

I understand that but I found the tone of the response to be very demeaning, and that's one of my triggers for sounding off. My point is this. In some form or another, a social safety net has always been a part of America, however ill-practiced, because if for no other reason than all the screeching one hears about how this is a nation built on Judaeo-CHRISTIAN ideals. I'm not even going to go there.

We are a nation built on ideals, though, and one is to look out for the less fortunate. Just to set the record straight I live on less than $14K annually, excluding other financial help (not in cash form), in an expensive city called Chicago. I believe I ask for no more than I gave.

Please be aware, I am not ragging on you. I am old enough, however, to hear "welfare queen" (to quote Ronald Reagan in one of his infamous lies) when I hear it.

Pudman56 is a he, just for clarification.

I'm in your boat, I suffered for years since the 90s with back, neck, knee pain, PTSD. Back then (the 90s) all these Dr.s & pain specialists loaded me up with long, short acting meds. Pain, muscle spasms, head aches. I tried everything from acupuncture shots in my neck, chiropractic physical therapy, faith healers, you name it. And all my Doctors gave me meds. Oh, just take this pill then these other ones. But they never told you how hard they are to get off. I'm 60 now, I have ostero arthritis just to name 1 out of 5 defects I have developed for years. Now Dr.s are forced to cut & stop all benzo drugs & chronic pain meds. The government won't listen to the Doctors x rays & diagnostics, or look at your history. Now they cut & removed most all of the meds that work & are made for your condition, and they are foreseeing a person that has NEVER misused, overdosed, sold or give away my med like a criminal! They make you pee, how degrading. Why are the Drs that gave me all these meds now taking no responsibility for getting me on them & now I'm a criminal & suffering worse because of what I now must take every visit. They cop off something and want me to use meds that don't work. This is crazy. If I wanted to do something I would have done it a long time ago. At 60 I've lived my life the right way and now life hurts tooo much to live. How sad, my Drs are frustrated & only worried about themselves not getting in trouble! What next? The government needs to govern and let the Dr.s help patients that need their help! Can anyone help? If so let me know. Something has to change though. Illicit drug use is drastically up!

It all depends on the pharmacy. I had that same problem at a mom and pop pharmacy. They told me I was refilling prematurely, so then I went to Rite-Aid and they filled it no questions asked. I also did that with a Walmart Pharmacy. They refilled it early and the prescription was from that store. They can refill it if they want to. They will probably tell you that they can't. But you must ask them to get a dictionary and look up the words can't and won't. Because they CAN do it if they want to, but they WON'T because they deny it because of their personal convictions. I have to say, pharmacists can do much more than they allude to.

If your doctor upped the dosage that totally changes the game. Tell that pharmacist to fill it or take your business elsewhere. Enough with these pharmacists calling the shots. You're not doing anything improper.

Ho Ho Ho Santa, you tell them how a pharmacy can break Federal Law. Did you notice the Score Rite Aid keeps on you, its with the paperwork they gave you. You can't be more mistaken even though you beat the system this fill

I realize that's a tough situation. As far as the doctor, I don't know the person, so it's impossible to say how he/she will react. If you've always been honest with this doctor, I would think that you could be honest and tell them. As far as filling it early, you may have to ask the doctor to write it differently so that the pharmacist and the insurance carrier don't give you a hard time. In other words have him write it for 2mg. 4x/daily, although I don't know if 2mg. 3/daily is the max.

People drank alcohol before Xanax. That's what these PATIENT'S will do without help. What did we do before the wheel was invented? Are you willing to give up your automobile. Don't be stupid.

I've got to tell you, I have a lot of respect for what you're going through. And, you're very strong! It seems you have a lot of mind control if you're able to cut back at all. I got to say, benzos are the devil. The physical withdrawal isn't the worst. It's the psychological that's long and arduous. I wish you all the luck, but it seems like you're well on your way. All the best.

Tj, when you pick up a prescription at the pharmacy there is info on that prescription included. It is the patientrs reaponsibility to read the info and be informed.

The pharmaceutical companies lied to the doctors years ago about certain drugs when they said they were not addicting, could be taken long term, etc. It is not the doctors fault.

Eddy, Kally is absolutely correct. Maybe she can't spell Xanax, but that doesn't make her ill-informed.

Hardy, youre right about the 80%. I think it's 85% in NJ. But of course it depends on the state in question.
