Refilling My Valid Xanax Prescription Early (Page 20)

Updated

I only see one doctor and he gives me a 3 month supply of xanax. When I went the last time he wrote me out a prescription but I still had two refills. I had a friend and her husband passed away and I gave her some of mine thinking I would have no problem re-filling the prescription. I had sense enough not to go to the same pharmacy and not to give my insurance information. So I go to this small drug store by my house and I had to fill out paperwork such as dob, name and my DL #. Well they paged me to the front of the store and advised me that it was 7 days to early for them to re-fill. So my question is where can I go to re-fill a prescription that is valid written by the same doctor. I only tried one place, I'm guessing they must have a data base if you try and refill your prescription early (even without your insurance) does anyone have advice on where I can go to get this filled?

To ROB
don't be surprised if he turns you down have you considered switching to another rx for sleep. There are far more effective insomnia meds then Xanax just a thought but it couldn't hurt to discuss this with him.

Rob, I agree your doctor may not refill it. How many are you prescribed to take at night ? You mentioned needing 60 for a month.

Rob, technically Xanax is not a sleep aid. You cannot try Doxepin, Temazepam, Sonata, Unisom, Lunesta, Ambien, Benadryl. Plus other non-medical techniques.

Ya I do, NO WHERE they have a state to state date base wether u pay cash or not I just went through the same thing and it was from a freferring doctor from my pc to a phychatrist who wrote me a new script for each me different qunity as in more and the earliest they fill it is 3-7 days depending on pharmacy policy I had to have my dr call Walmart and call in a complete different dosage and qunity taking 2 at a time instead of one only way is to find a out of state pharmacy who fill out of state perscriptions it don't matter if it's a huge chain pharmacy or a mom and pop cash or insurance doctor shopping and crooked pharmacies kill that process

I suffer from chronic anxiety. It is truely awful. I've been on 2 mg xanax for quite awhile now. It has helped tremendously. Recently, things have happened in my life that is out of my control. My anxiety was through the roof. I started taking an extra one which will leave me short until my next re-fill. I stressed out about that. I finally called my doc & told him the truth. He was so sympathetic & said that's what he's here for, to help.I was over a week early on my script so he called the pharmacy & told them to fill my script early due to he instructed e to take an extre one. Honesty is the way to go, no matter what. These doctor's have heard it all. Just don't make it a habit of takingmore than prescribed.

That was cool. That's another way. My anxiety went through the roof last week. Not for anything specifically about last week, it just finally reared it's ugly head in the form of a massive anxiety attack. Seriously. The worst part was I fell off my other head meds so I went on a manic rage and ultimately landed myself in the ER, actually afraid I was having a stroke. There's nothing that works like a benzo for that.

I will share this with anyone who is not aware. Ativan actually remains in your system longer. Significantly longer. Much longer half life than Valium or Xanax. However, I admit my preference is actually Valium, but fine with my Xanax. I think, at least for me, Valium has a stronger more noticeable impact. Xanax has a quick effect. And the 10mg V's and 1mg X's are a calm blue. I'm serious about the color, for myself.

Normally it depends what type of insurance you have but it also depends on if you're paying cash or not but if you go to a small Pharmacy there going to be less likely to fill it then a big chain like a Walmart or something like that because if they're busy they'll just put it right through benzodiazepines our control but they're only a schedule 3 so

Schedule IV, and I don't know why. Low abuse potential? I don't think so. But marijuana and heroin are in the same schedule (Schedule I).

Schedule IV drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with a low potential for abuse and low risk of dependence. Some examples of Schedule IV drugs are:

Xanax, Soma, Darvon, Darvocet, Valium, Ativan, Talwin, Ambien, Tramadol

So much has changed since I became a member here a few years ago. Today I went into my Rite Aid and they said I was too early as my last refill was on the 14th but I gave them some time as they are really slow and also have to special order one medicine. They were actually going to make me come back on the 16th when I picked up my order last month. People should not discontinue their medicine for a couple days due to these absurd new rules in place. Those that take extras and then run out is another story. In any case they reviewed my "Window" history and filled them. While you don't want to know how many extras I still have, I feel like a drug seeker when I pick up my monthly and 90 day non controlled medicines

I have the same problem. I have chronic anxiety which is different then anxiety/panic "attacks." The anxiety never goes away & I'm pushing 60 years old. I also built up a tolerance. The last few months I've had to take an extra one & was running out. I panicked over this & did not know what to do & threw my anxiety to the roof even higher. I just did not know what to do. These previous pharmacies- Walgreens- treated me like an addict. It was extremely embarrassing & humiliated to say the least. I finally decided to call my doctor & tell him the truth. He was so compassionate & actually had sympathy for me. I cannot tell you how relieved I was that someone finally understood that this is a real medical problem & not someone trying to "score" pills. Also, these pharmacist should not be treating or judging their customers the way they do. It is a disgrace!!!!!!

Ya if u have welfare insurance they'll fill em way early. Buy a good repadul insurance only 3-4 days before and ur comment is bulls***, it doesn't matter how big or small that Pharmacy is, & once they punch your birthdate and name into the computer and medication the system throws u an alert and when they tell u it's too early and you reply "well I'll pay cash instead of the dr", it throws up a bigger flag. See, its not up to nobody but the company filling it as to how early they'll allow it, whether it's 3-4 days or 1-2 weeks, don't matter.

What is "welfare" insurance and where can I buy it?

You actually sound a little angry. What's up? Gotta problem with people receiving financial and medical aid from a government entity? Ironically, it's actually saving you money in the long run.

BTW, "welfare insurance" isn't good code any longer.

What is repadul insurance. Spell check doesn't recognize the word. I'm just trying to keep myself informed, that's all.

pudman56 , the only type of Welfare Insurance is Medicaid. You have to be low income to received Medicaid. Medicaid is paid for by the tax payers.

I believe Shemp meant reputable insurance.
