Red Oblong Pills With No Marking

Updated

My friend gave me 2 pills she claimed were extra strength excedrine, but I had my doubts. They were bright red, no markings, and shaped like the white excedrine migraine. She gave them to me because I told her I was tired, but they really did not have any effect that I was aware of. She claimed the caffein would pep me up a bit, but it didn't.

If there were no markings on them, it is going to be difficult to determine exactly what they were.

It is possible that they were a generic or store brand of Excedrin Migraine, which would contain Acetaminophen, Aspirin and Caffeine.

The amount of caffeine in each tablet is only 65mgs, so if you are used to ingesting large amounts of it, such as in coffee or sodas, then it probably wouldn't have much of an effect on you.

However, in the future, I would suggest not taking any tablets, if you aren't 100% certain what they are.

Well done Verwon. That is good research. And also you corrected the spelling, which has no 'ê' at the end of the brand name. One should never use a brand name when talking of a drug unless it is relevant to the discussion, but the INN, and these kind of tablets are sold under many names but should be described as 'acetaminophen (or paracetamol), aspirin and caffeine tablets, USP or BP, followed by the amount of each API contained in the tablet.

Americans in particular are terrible for describing generic drugs by the registered trade name of another company, such as 'VALIUM' for any diazepam or 'ATIVAN' for lorazepam. On that subject, 'KLONOPIN' should never be used as 90% of people have no idea what on earth that is, ROCHE using that name in only ONE country in the world - it is usually sold as RIVOTRIL. (CLONAZEPAM). However, keep up the work and cease being so US-centric. And update your database of world meds. Your posts can be very out of date and can also miss out a whole swathe of the world when identification is important.

Your friend and sometime critic,
Minoguesque.
