Quiting Eliquis And Zarelto

I have Afib and was on warfarin for 5 years. Got tired of keeping up with Vit K so went on Zarelto. My fingers on my right hand after about a week swelled up and hurt and so did my right arm. I called doctor and he put me on Eliquis, I've got no better, infact now it's in my left hand too. Anyone had any problems with joints swelling with Eliquis. I could use information on how long this swelling will last after getting off either of those drugs. Thanks so much Belle

Hello, Belle! How are you doing? Has there been any improvement, yet?

That's not something listed among the typical side effects, according to the FDA. It has been known to cause edema, but usually of the feet and ankles.

Many people have had it cause severe joint pain, which forced them to switch to a different medication.

Other typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising.

Are you on any other medications? How long ago did you make the switch?

I've been off the meds for 1 week today with no change in my hands. I have read of one other person that had swelling in joints in hands. Nothing changed with meds I was taking. Only change was I started taking Zarelto and one week later my fingers started to swell in my right hand and has just got worse, also I have it in my left hand as well it has moved to my wrist now. I've read of all kinds of problems with this medicine. Thousands of people takes this medicine with no problem, but it appears that a lot of people does have a problem. And from what I've read once your joints are swelled it take a lone time for them to get back to normal. I would love to have input from others that has had this problem. Belle
