Qsymia Questions
UpdatedWhen does it stop working as well as an appetite suppressant and why does your weight loss slow down?

Hello, Lauren! How are you?
Our bodies eventually get used to any medication that we take regularly for a long period of time, which causes them to stop working as well for us. There's no precise time frame that can be given though, because it can vary from person to person.
Regardless of the method used to lose weight, there is almost always a plateau that you hit, at some point. Your body also gets used to whatever you're doing to spur it, such as a medication, or exercise and weight loss can slow down, unless you change something to ramp it back up, such as changing your exercise routine, your diet, or the medication that you're taking.
The FDA lists Qysmia's typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, nausea, constipation, insomnia and dry mouth.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Does it also leave a metallic taste in your mouth? I havea@so been on some antibiotics recently for diverticutitis and I am having a hard time deciphering the side effercts of this medicication and the antibiotics.
Many thanks. Kim
Yes it does! It's called dysgeusia, and can alter how things taste. For me soda and LaCroix flavored waters have metallic after tastes. I also don't find sweets to have the same taste as before either. This is a common side effect. Personally, I have found that it has helped to remove them from my diet and I rarely have them. On the downside, some leafy greens taste dirty to me now and I struggle to eat them.
I’ve been on Qsymia for about 2 weeks now and I’ve been experiencing my legs going numb with pain/tingles. Has anyone else gone through this? Please help!!
I have been taking Qsymia since October 2022 and had my labs done in December. My A1C was abnormally low, which is unusual for me because I am always in the normal range. Should I be concerned?
