My son has just been perscribed prozac for his anxiety and aggression due to his lack of interpersonal skills, caused by Aspegers Syndrome. he was on concerta and tenex, they are no longer effective. Any idea if this will be an effective route for him? He cant function in school without something because of his disorder. Also will it help with his sleep disruption. he doesnt sleep for days and even with remeron still wakes in teh middle of the night. ## Well, there's really no way to say if any given medication will be effective for any given person that tries it. I have been on Prozac for 20 yrs now and it's been titrated up to my present dosage of 80 mg qd. Dx of ADD about 2 yrs ago. I now take Adderal 30 mg qd. Random periods of gross diaphoresis, hyperventilation, anxiety to the max, the I gotta do something but I don't know what feeling, it's horrible. TF studies WNL. Doc says Cardiology Consult. I don't. Possible that Prozac/ Adderal no longer get along well with me? ## Totally possible . You should get on a lower dose of Adderall, and get the extended release, like go down to 20 mg. They can both increase the level of Serotonin in your brain, which can lead to a very dangerous condition called Serotonin Syndrome, this condition even has the potential to be fatal. I'd really suggest double checking with your doctor, before adding the new medication. Adding additional complications isn't something you need to be risking.

i,am depressed was on only 10mg prozac and 3mg xanax. then when winter came this year 2013 i felt horrible i,am 68 have always been active. walking for 18 years. the Dr. said 10 mg does nothing. so I,am on 20mg. now. plus 4mg xanax. thank you. ## You may have Season Affective Disorder, it tends to hit suffers like that and they experience the worst symptoms during the dull, dreary months and for most it cycles and occurs at the same time each year. I want to know if there's benzo in prozac ingredients ## Hi shay, I think you may have mistaken the drug class for an active/inactive ingredient. To answer your question, Prozac (Fluoxetine) is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class; not having any chemical relation to benzodiazepine medication like Xanax. If you'd like to know which inactive ingredients are present in your pill, please post back with a description of the tablet (i.e. shape, color, imprints, etc), and I can look that info up for you. I have tested positive for benzos three times in the past month (urine). I take over the counter loratadine (10 mg./day), tylenol, and prescription prozac (20 mg./day). Could any of these be causing the false positive or the combination of these? ## From what I could gather, all three of those medications are known to cause false positives for Amphetamines, but I haven't seen anything yet suggesting Benzos... Regardless of that, you, yourself, know that you didn't take what showed up on that test. On the cheaper, less reliable tests, it seems like anything is possible. False positives are known to occur on them anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time. I have been taking 60mg generic Prozac for about six months. These days I'm feeling like it's not quite controlling my depression. With my doctor's permission I tried raising the dose to 80mg and it caused me to sleep straight through the entire day. Does anyone know of another antidepressant that might work with prozac but not knock me out? Paxil was wonderful but stopped working after about 3 years as well as wellbutrin and zoloft......all taken by themselves. I am prescribed to prozac, adderal, and ativan. I am also subject to random urine tests. Will any of these of the combanation of these cause me to give a false positive? ## Well, what are you tested for? I have been taking prozac and norco for over a year now and i've had lots of problems with pain control. We thought it was just tolerence build up. Now I am reading that prozac can keep the body from absorbing hydrocodone correctly. I cant seem to find a definite answer, not even from my pharmacist. Please any help would be welcome! Has anyone heard of any studies that look at long term side effects of prozac on children whose mothers took prozac while pregnant? I have 4 sons, 2 I took prozac with, those 2 have sensory processing and other issues, the other 2 don't. coincidence? probably not.... ## I have a daughter that had a son, 2 yrs ago, while on 40 mg per day of prozac. I'm trying to find out the name and type of pill this is: It's orange, oval shaped with mp15 on one side of it. How does adco alzam interact with Prozac and sleeping tablets ## Taking the Alprazolam with the Fluoxetine in the Prozac can cause you to absorb higher amounts of the Benzodiazepine than normal, which might cause the risk of depression of the central nervous system. It can cause very similar problems with most sleep inducing medications. Are there any other questions or comments?

i am currently on prozac for the last 20 years. I want to ask my doctor to add wellbuterin. I feel that the prozac does not work as well but when I try to reduce and get off it is totally miserable. I have completely lost my desire for sex and have read that if you add wellbuterin it helps... My 12 yr old daughter was recently placed in a behavioral hospital and was put on resipdol and prozac. When she was discharged we filled her prescriptions. She was only given a 15 day supply from the pharmacy die to medicaid. Now her RX has run out and I CAN NOT get it filled for at least another 2 weeks at best. I have contacted everyone. I used it and now can't find it. thanks ## I'm sorry, but we have no way of knowing what pharmacy has a medication from any given manufacturer in stock, at any given time. Such information would be very dynamic and difficult to keep track of, anyway. Most pharmacies will switch which manufacturer's product they have in stock, depending on who was offering the cheapest prices, when they needed to order a new supply. However, if you ask, they should be able to order it in for you, but you usually had to pay whatever the current price is. Have you tried asking them to order it?
