Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Calcitonin-Salmon (generic) if you can still get it. Got my Mom totally well within 1 year. She could not even shut a door without a rib bone breaking. Didn't work well for me because I have normally congested nose problems so it could not get in and do what it needs to do. She stayed on it for about 10-20 years and had zero problems. Finally died of heart failure at age 96. Her bones were excellent. MDs like to say it doesn't work and I KNOW it does. Too simple and too easy to work in their minds. Use it for a year and have a bone scan or just notice your bones are no longer breaking.

Yes, I got the 'I'm so sorry - I push you into that (Prolia). I wanted you to have strong bones for your hip replacement. What's the surgeon think". I said: He said my bones were fine for hip replacement. He would just use more glue. Now he has to wait until whenever this poison is totally and completely out of my body before he will even touch me. A lot of good I'm so sorry does!!! Boohoo all the way to the bank. They should be sued and I just may go after her. With all the pain Prolia causes add in a 10,000 more times more pain from joints rubbing together that were supposed to have been replaced on June 16 this year and I would be getting close to having my knee replaced now too. First thing on the list will be getting my eye sight back by having this miserable cataract removed which requires a plane trip to a big city. That I had scheduled before June 16. Sorry - RIGHT!!!!!

My sister is on her second shot of prolia and has dizziness and bad vertigo, curious if anyone else had that reaction. For people looking for a natural way to help bone regrowth try Marine Collagen Peptides, totally safe and PROVEN to have success in clinical studies for bone growth. You can get this at Procaps Labratories, Andrew Lessman Vitamins. Everyone who has bone and joint problems should be on this stuff, it is good for your entire body and when you do the research you will see why it is so important to your bones. You cannot have strong healthy bones when your collagen levels are low which is what happens when we age.

It's been nearly a year since my first shot. I had another in January 2015. I have been on steroids since early February. They are the only thing that allows me to function. My bone are much worse than a year ago. My Last bone density test proved that. I have been able to take a progressively smaller dose of prednisone. Hopefully I will be able to get off of them entirely soon. It is my hope that the pain, stiffness and blisters will be reduced to a tolerable level.
I have been taking lots of Calcium and vitamin D3. No help from Doctors other than wait for it to leave my system.

Check to see if your doc received payments from Amgen for promoting Prolia. Dollars for doctors on pro publication website.

Terrible side effects for me. Severe chills even in 100 degree weather. It attacked my gastritis. swelled up in stomach lining. Later, yesterday, went to emergency with severe lower back pain. Scale from 1-10, it was a 10 days straight. Could not lay, sit, or stand. Also, fatigue. Prolia? Not for me!!

I had one shot of Prolia in May 2015 and have no intention of getting the 2nd one.
Since "that shot", there is NO PART OF MY BODY that has not been adversely affected, making every condition I already had much worse. In my heart I blame it
on that shot. too much continues to worsen and the timing is too suspect not to be
the cause directly.

Happy to report that Amgen was correct. I would start to feel much better in my fifth month. I will not be getting another in this lifetime. There was a reminder from my pharmacy when I picked up a med. More Prolia? OVER MY DEAD BODY! I am actually starting to feel human again and have called Drs' offices to get my surgeries scheduled when the 6th month is totally over. I don't know if my immune system will be back to 100% by then but I am taking a chance on my body being healthy again after this dreadful Prolia. Since I feel this much difference now I hope I will be safe as I am having a total hip replacement followed by a total knee replacement. Please stay away from this drug. It has robbed me of 6 months of my life and life is a very precious commodity especially as we get older. It also does not make better bone. It makes brittle bone. What's the point of having more bone when it is brittle bone and will fracture anyway. I really don't believe this has been well thought out by the MDs or the FDA.

What are you on now Poodle? My Doctor wants me on something. He said this stuff that is a daily shot is good but I really don't want to give myself a shot every day. So now they are saying Fosomax for 6 months to see if I can handle it and then start Reclast. Any thoughts, anyone??

Bone Density test resultsno better but they didn't get worse. So I guess thats a good sign. They want me to start Reclast. Anyone ever try it? First for Fosomax for 6 months then start the Reclast.

Hi Vicky,
I've waiting to see your post about the current test. Glad your bone density didn't get worse. I've tried Fosamax in the past as well as Actonel. My bone density got worse so on the advice of my ob/gyn I stopped taking it.

The Prolia is still in me until Oct. 22. After that, I will continue only with calcium, Vitamin D and Magnesium. Someday, someone will come up with something that will help us and not kill us. I had zero luck with Reclast, except for being sick in bed for 3 months and, of course, the calcitonin-Salmon could not work so that's why I got put on Prolia -- kind of a last ditch effort. The Docs are not going to like it but that's the way it's going to be. As a matter of fact I was at grocery store yesterday and bot a large package of baby spinach leaves -- totally full of Vit. D and make a great salad. Be well~Pood

Severe debilitating bone pain after 2nd Prolia shot, ongoing even after 6 mos. Had to quit work as I cannot drive. Also heaviness and weakness in limbs, constant faigue, painful sleepless nights, can even bathe properly without assistance, or brush my teeth.Too many It's like removing 6 mos or more from your life and becoming an invalid. How long does this poison stay in your system and ruin your life?

I wish I could give you more positive answers.
I got my second injection January 20th. I have been on Prednisone ever since. Bad for my bones but it lets me function most of the time. I slowly reduced the dose and stopped taking it last week. After three days the blisters started under my fingernails and on my legs. The next morning I couldn't get out of bed. I went back on the low dose Pred. Finally today I am feeling better.
I don't know how long it takes to leave our bodies. Apparently more than six months. As a side note, I was planning on having several dental implants done . The dentist won't do them. He said that it was very dangerous because my immune system is depressed from the Prolia. The risk of developing bone necrosis is probable.
I hope that you feel better soon
Carolyn, 70 years young in Michigan

Hi Carolyn: Would you mind telling me an approx vicinity you're from in Michigan? We are also and it seems that in our area (Central Lower Peninsula) Prolia was being prescribed heavily for a while. I think the Amgen Drug Reps were pushing it hard to the doctors (particularly 1 office in our area). I can get absolutely no where with Amgen or the FDA. I've now gone to our state representatives and that may also be like hitting a brick wall. I want the doctors to be required to do a follow up check on patients within a day or 2 of getting Prolia and then I want it to be mandatory that any side effects be reported to the FDA by the prescribing doctor. Thats the ONLY way the FDA will get a true report on what this and other drugs are doing to people. Right now, reporting side effects is a voluntary effort. So I'm guessing many side effects go unreported. Our health care professionals sure can be lax! Good Luck.

Hi C Louise, I am in Lapeer County. The prescribing Dr was in Rochester. She is an Endocrinologist. She sent me to an infusion center for the shot. When I called the Dr to tell her about my symptoms, I emailed pics of the blisters on my elbows and legs, her response was "those side effects are very rare. That was all she had to say. I also called the infusion center and left a message for the hematologist. I got no response.
I have not contacted Amgen, but I have sent detailed information to the FDA. Again, no response.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

This is Katie again. Since my emergency visit with severe pain, I' been with continuing ache/hurt in my hip bones. Also, shortly after the prolia injection, my energy level was so low that when I'd go for my walk in the morning, I would have to turn around and come home cause I was so fatigued.
