Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Re: Jolly (# 3138) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Jolly,
I’m beginning to notice a pattern here of the doctors who have prescribed prolia saying they’ve never had patients mention side effects. Could Amgen be offering kick- backs ? Or are these medical professionals suffering from amnesia?
It wasn’t until I saw an oral specialist who was aware of these side effects. Prolia, from what I understand, can affect the immune system. There are other side effects which I’m sure doctors are aware of but turn a blind eye to.
Usually, again from what I understand, prolia is recommended for those with more severe bone loss. I wasn’t one of them!
By the way, it was a gynaecologist who prescribed this for me! I should have questioned her more!

My doctor also told me that none of his patients had any side effects. Within two weeks of the shot I was shedding hair like a dog. When I questioned the doctor he said it was not from Prolia. Also developed bone pain. I did not get the second shot. It took about two years for the hair to get back to normal. I did experience the mouth sores, but did not make to the connection to Prolia.

Re: Nikki (# 3136) Expand Referenced Message

My rheumatologists and other medical people told me "Oh, I haven’t heard of that before" when I advised of ALL the issues I have due to Prolia. To that insulting and dismissive answer I say "Well now you have ~ so you can’t say that anymore."

Unfortunately, asking them to do their homework and find out what about Prolia is attacking all of us most likely is futile. They are STILL pushing and selling Prolia.

My rheumatologist brushed off my concerns when I asked him what the side effects of Prolia were. He told me hadn't heard of any of his patients with side effects from Prolia.

I bet there were more women than just mue.

Sending hugs!
Nikki

Of course the medicos are in league with Big Pharma otherwise how else can we explain the utter contempt shown to those of us who have suffered debilitating side effects from this poison. Yes there are patients who have not had any adverse reactions but I suspect the number of bad reactions far outweigh those

Alexis ~ sit down with a cup of coffee and start reading all the posts on this thread. Looking up various words on MedsChat helps you find all sorts of comments. Try: Prolia, Prolia side effects, Issues with Prolia, Bony Growths, Immune System Prolia, ~ you get the picture.
Educating yourself is key ~ good for you!

Good for you and your dentist. What annoys me so much is that the MD who prescribed this for me told me she knew of no side effects when I told her what I was experiencing. She also told me she was very knowledgeable of the injections as she worked closely with the drug company! As a retired sales Rep, I know that companies, especially drug companies, offer a lot of perks!

As for me, I’ve just learned to live with the sores in my mouth. However, I’ve told anyone I know about what prolia did to me. I have the implant to prove it.

Re: Judy (# 3130) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Judy,

When I went to the dentist last year they didn't know about Prolia's osteonecrosis of the jaw. They must have immediately did some research because on the paperwork they now have a question regarding if anyone has taken Prolia.

I'm so glad they took my warnings seriously and I hope it helps someone.

How are you doing?
Nikki

That’s the hard thing about pinpointing that your various, alarming issues come from Prolia! Prolia offen attacks everyone with different issues at different times of the 6 month timeframe. Who the heck thinks “Hey, this horrible rash is from the Prolia shot I got 3 months ago”??

Re: Ally (# 3129) Expand Referenced Message

To this day, any years after taking prolia, I have sores on the roof of my mouth which get irritated with any spicy food. My oral specialist has tried many medications and the one that gives me moderate relief is Lyderm fluocinonide gel. I also lost a front tooth due to prolia and at great expense had to have a bone graft before I could even get an implant
My advice to you would to be very cautious making up your mind to take this med. I wish I had.

Besides the suffering from common side effects read throughout this Prolia forum, I’ve yet to come across anyone experiencing severe oral inflammatory problems. Swollen gums and cheeks causing difficulties in forming words. I could go on. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms?

Prolia was a horrible drug for me. I wish I had known all the horrible side effects and that it was also being used for Cancer patients, I would have never taken it. I tolerated 7 injections and gradually got worse and worse, muscle pain, joint pain, the pain was becoming unbearable! I have suffered most of the horrible side effects or Prolia. Still have permanent damage from it. Still suffering from the side effects. I hope this helps someone not to go through what I am going through because of Prolia. A form of Chemotherapy, they do not advertise this, of course.

Hi Karen,

From what I heard it can make a difference if thyroid meds are synthetic, some people don't react well to it. The thyroid is so important. I hope you can find a solution for regulating it.

Re: Duce (# 3124) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Duce,

I think I bought the Osteoporosis Reversal program. It's currently on sale for $67. Some of the what is offered I can't afford. But they do have blogs and articles that offer help, too.

Re: Karen KK (# 3122) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Karen, I am pretty much doing what you have stated you are doing. Doctors opinions held at arms length, and embracing supplements and organic, healthy, plant-based food. Also started a walking aerobics class (Yay to Leslie Sansone of YouTube) last September and think it’s been helping a lot! A DEXA test will tell. This may not FIX any bone loss, but at least I’m hoping it may STOP/SLOW bone loss.! ????

Re: Lizzie (# 3111) Expand Referenced Message

Money, money, money. How sad that doctors are only after the money and could care less what side effects these drugs cause. My hair is still falling out and I am going broke trying to find anything that will help with this problem. I recently fell and cracked 3 ribs, no broken hop so I was lucky. I stopped taken Prolia on my own and my doctor had a stroke. she then wanted me to take the treatment that I would go in the hospital and get hooked up to something. NO! I only take vitamins now and I pray that osteoporosis does not get worse. My doctor also put me on drugs for my thyroid which made me as cranky as hell. I also stopped those, and new doctors have no idea why I was put on those either.

Re: Darcy (# 3120) Expand Referenced Message

Try to get a list of all good with high calcium content and take a minimum of 4,000 units of Vitamin D unless you have a health reason not too. Stay far away from those osteoporosis drugs. Prolia almost killed me almost 3 years ago now and only one dose.

Re: Lizzie (# 3119) Expand Referenced Message

I was doing great but a new DEXA test tells me I’m into osteoporosis deeper than I thought. Do not -will not - take any more Prolia or the like. Does anyone have suggestions in our collective bone loss issues, that will help me select a good supplement or exercise that is effective? Need to STOP this bone loss if possible. -3.6 !!! Yikes
