It seems to me that unless this company gets some reps out there to the gastro offices they are just going to continue to prescribe that terrible stuff. I am so glad to see a doctor actually prescribe it. My doctor hadn't even heard of it when I got it but that was back in late 2012. I had to pay $95 but it was worth it.

Took 1st dose at 4pm everything fine bathroom quite a few times but nothing too bad. 2nd dose at 1030. Haven't left the bathroom since 1040. Yikes ! Hope it's over soon. Totally still recommend Taste not bad and not that much to drink. Will recommend to others.

I went in for my 3rd colonoscopy this morning. In the past I've always used that awful tasting stuff that you have to drink gallons of and tastes awful. My doctor prescribed Prepopik this time. I took my first dose last night at 7pm and nothing, and when I say nothing, I mean nothing happened until about 11:00pm!. No bloating, no cramps, no weird bowel sounds, never even had the urge to go the bathroom, you would never even think I took anything for prep. Needless to say I was getting very nervous and anxious that it wasn't working for me. In the past, the prep always kicked in shortly after ingesting. I made one bathroom trip before going to bed, and not much came out. I was getting very upset that I would not be cleaned out enough for my 7:30am procedure. I followed the instructions to a T, I drank 5 oz of cold water mixed with one packet, and five 8 oz glasses of water within a couple of hours at 7pm. I got up for my 2:00am dose and took exactly as directed. It started to work shortly after, but I only went to the bathroom maybe 4-5 times. I was convinced I was not cleaned out enough, but I went in for my scope and everything went smoothly. I was very surprised! It probably helped that I stopped taking vitamins and ate a low residue diet a week beforehand, and only clear liquids the day before. It was my first time taking Prepopik and I think the worst part of the whole prep was the anxiety and stress over that it wasn't going to work. I will definitely take it next time with the knowledge that it may take hours before kicking in, as opposed to minutes from that other stuff.

Comments were very reassuring, thank you. I have had previous preps which are nauseating. I had my doubts about prepopik as it didn't seem to be working. So, I took some of the old prep that I had from a cancelled procedure. Horrible! Thankfully I came to my senses and just couldn't stomach it so waited and prepok working, just slower. I wish I had started earlier, as mentioned above and done it all same day. Also wish I had gotten a coupon as it cost me $84 with insurance. Might still go with the dulcolax. Going to give it another hour.

I do think it takes longer to kick in. I have a slow system so maybe that was why but I will use the dulcolax again. My procedures are in afternoon so I have time. I really don't plan to have another since I will be over 80 by then.

Had my 4th colonoscopy today. Used prepopik and it was by far the best and easiest to use. I took my first dose at noon followed by the fluids I had to drink. Started working an hour later. Only went a few times. Second dose at 6pm and again about an hour later started working. Only went 5 times and went to bed around 10pm. Woke up in morning went 2 more times. I thought it didn't clean me out enough but my doctor said it did it's job. It is much better than moviprep or go lightly. I would highly recommend this over the others. Taste wasn't bad and it's only 5 ounces. Very good product.

Did you consult with the doctor about whether taking the 2 doses on the same day was acceptable ? I hear the prep takes about 5 hours to start working.
My procedure is at 9:15am and was wondering if I could take first dose around noon and the second around 6pm. of course, I will ask my doctor. I would be too afraid that the dose I take at 4am may not kick in until I am at my procedure.

I started Thursday evening first dose 6:30 pm second dose 11:30 pm
First dose did nothing, second dose did nothing .. I was cursing this product out by 2am.. Thinking What a waste of money, time, loss of sleep, and a sick day for my procedure the next day.. Anyway guess it heard me cursing at it...5 am the movement started and finished by 8am , only went 3 times total and I thought it wasn't enough, and also went one more time at the facility as I was being registered and still didn't look completely clear.. Got home ate, etc, etc,... Midnight rolls around and now having diarrhea again?? I was like , now it decides to work?
Well again kept me up because I went 3 more times after that, with cramping and the noises associated with it..now I would say I'm clear enough... It is now Saturday morning and just had another one, so I figured let me write about this.... Why is this stuff still in my system? And why does this work so slow? Honestly I think I would prefer to use what I've used last time... Yes it was gross, but immediate and no aftermath... Technically I'm on day 2 of having diarrhea.... Unacceptable and such an expensive product

Thanks for all the information you shared. It was helpful and it made me less nervous about what I was expecting to go through. It will be my first time using this product next week. Will definitely tell my doctor I want to do both doses on the same day.

Quite different...I'm due for a 2:30 colonoscopy, tomorrow. Contemplating weather to do 2nd dose, (it is now 11:30 pm,) if I started at 4:30, or just wait till morn. Understand anxiousness since I'm still waiting for it to work; Anything is a Blessing compared to past med experience!

Tia.. It seems you are experiencing what I did.. First dose was a dud,
Second dose taken at 11:30 pm didn't start working till almost 6 am the next day and kept on working for an additional day...procedure was last Friday at 1:30 pm movements didn't stabilize and almost back to normal Saturday evening

I also thought the Prepopik worked slowly. As instructed, I took the first packet at 4pm and second at 10pm with a lot of fluid intake. Nothing happened until 10ish, which had me worried. Still emptying out at 8am with colonoscopy scheduled for 10:30am. Had my colonoscopy Wednesday, and Thursday and today still having stomach upset and rumblings. Although the prep was by far easier to take then the Golytely last time, I did not have any residual effects. I am finding very little info about Prepopik's lingering effects and back to taking Tagamet, Gas-X, etc. until I'm back to normal.

I have a colonoscopy tomorrow and I went on this website earlier to read what experiences others had with Prepopik. Most didn’t comment after drinking the first 5 oz, either because they were just starting the prep or commented after their colonoscopy so was just glad it was over. I used Golytely for my first colonoscopy five years ago and I was not looking forward to the prep. Even though I was prescribed Prepopik this time, I wasn’t going to take any chances. Like one of the commenters, I had vaseline, hemorrhoid creme, flushable towelettes, a squeezable water bottle (to clean the area when I couldn’t stand to wipe anymore), laptop and magazines. I expected to spend hours in the bathroom with no breaks. Having to force down a 24 oz glass every hour five hrs with the Golytely, by 11:00 pm my legs ached from sitting on the throne the whole time, my hemorrhoid was on fire, the whole area around my bung hole was chapped and too painful to wipe. I was tired and just wanted to go to bed but I still wasn’t done. I thought it was the most barbaric way, in this day and age, to clean a colon. But with the Prepopik I only had to drink 2 - 5 oz glasses. I started at 10 am because I wanted to get to bed at a decent time. An hour and a half later nothing had happened yet. Considering it was five secs the last time, I checked to make sure I didn’t start with the wrong packet! I went on line to see what others said and read that for most people it was slow going at first. Fortunately, everything started shortly after that. It was intense for the first couple hrs but I was able to get off the pot once in a while. By the time the second 5 oz was due I was starting to get impatient, it seemed everything had stopped for the last two hours and I wasn’t running clear yet so I took the second 5 oz early. Yikes! I imagine with my stomach empty it didn’t take much to start again. I had to sit on the toilet and just let it run. That happened 2-3 times within the hour before it started to lessen and it was finally starting to run clear. I didn’t want to finish drinking the water because the diarrhea came right after and I wanted to be done. Everything was getting inflamed again. But reading another website on colon preps, with some preps you can burn your liver, so I did drink the last two. I was still running to the bathroom about every 30 mins or so for the next four hrs after my last glass of water. But even though it's been longer from start to finish than the Golytely, it was far less traumatic. The Prepopik is definitely more humane and less explosive with just the two 5 oz glasses, then clear liquids and time in between to take breaks. It’s a no brainer for me that Prepopik is going to be my go to next time. Oh what a relief it is.

Susan P, the instructions on Prepopik tell you to start at 4-6 pm then 10-12 am the second 5 oz. I started at 10 am because I wanted to be done at a decent time. I hesitated starting that early but since I couldn't eat or could only eat lightly that day I decided to start early. And was glad I did and next time, I plan to start even earlier! I took the second 5z at 3:30, after a couple hours it finally slowed to every hour until 10:00, then got up at 1, 5, and 7 am. I could not imagine at 10:00, instead of being done, that I would just be starting my second dose. But everybody and every body is different, so what I did worked for me and it was still a long day.

The last time I had it done, I didn't drink anything the next day because I didn't want to start it up again when my colonoscopy was scheduled for 10 am. The nurse said I should have drank water considering how dehydrating the whole process is on the system. So this time I drank a couple glasses and it did not start anything plus, I felt a whole lot better. Oh, I should mention that when I was at the clinic, a lady came in and they asked her if she was ready for round two. Apparently, she couldn't drink all the Golytely, didn't figure she had to, and thought what she did was good enough. Wrong. One day is bad enough, without having to go home and do it all over again.

Everyone needs to know that we are all different. Some people have very slow systems. I added 2 Dulcolax the night before because it seemed to be working very slow or hardly at all but my procedure was in the afternoon so I have plenty of time. I can't imagine anyone wanting to take the old stuff rather than this. I am sure much of depends on what you have eaten prior to taking the prep. For me this is the only way to go and doctor said I was really cleaned out well.

This will be my third colonoscopy and my first endoscopy and the first time for the Prepopik. My co-pay was $60 and I would have gladly paid $100 for this. I can't believe how well it works and that I don't have to drink that other stuff. It's doing what it's supposed to do and I'm getting ready to take my 2nd dose. Look, these tests are not exactly a day in the park so anything that makes it go smoother, is worth whatever the price is. I'll never stress about going through this again. Small price to pay I'd say.

I am about to take my first dose!!! After reading all these comments, I am still anxious. That stuff I had to take the first time (this is my third), was so horrible, I never took the second dose but I was cleaned out nonetheless. It tasted like the ocean on a bad day! Not that there would be a good ocean tasting day. I threw it up.

The second one I told my doc I would not take that stuff again. He said I had to but I went home and researched it and did the one with Gatorade. It wasn't too bad bit I had to drink two gallons of fluid within a short time. I will never drink Gatorade again!!!

So this tome the doc said was going to be better. I told him it had to be because anything at all would be better.

I will let you know the results !! it cost $40.00 with insurance.
