I can answer Katarina's question--about whether or not Prepopik worked! NO! This was to have been my 7th colonoscopy, so I'm not a newcomer. Am 65, a college educated, female, with family history of colon cancer. I was on a really low residue diet for 5 days prior to prep day, and better, was also eating only once a day for those 5 days. Took 1st dose the evening before procedure, at 5 PM and 4 hours later, nothing. By 11 PM, after being dizzy and head-achy I didn't follow my MD's recommendation for waiting til next AM, but took 2nd dose--that is PREPOPIK's own default schedule! It's right in the literature. Around 3 AM, I started having some action; some solid, some fluid. Thought my troubles were over and the dam was going to break at last! No way. I sat there, bored--my brain was too fuzzy by then to try and read magazines. (it creeps me out anyway, reading in the john, even though I use plastic gloves for the icky stuff, then discard and wash up like a surgeon) Boy, was I nauseated and dizzy. None of this has never happened with any other prep. After 4 AM, nothing. Then, at 7 AM, one pea-sized, rock-solid item! That's it! I'd used Desitin ointment for whole thing, but could have lived without it, that's how little I achieved.

At 9 AM, I threw up about 2 cups of icky fluid, and felt so much better in the nausea department. It had just sat there, all night, making me feel bloated. I'd wondered why I wasn't hungry. Now I knew. I was too full of fluids that hadn't even made it through the duodenum. I was backed up in site of that stuff.

Called MD's office. Nurse I knew said we should try going in anyway. This was for a 2 PM arrival time. Procedure would be later. We agreed--maybe they could irrigate me.
By the time I got there, wearing my precaution, a Depends adult diaper (it arrived in spotless condition) the RN in the department said, no way, because I'd obviously had no luck at all with the prep, and worse, by far, it was all MY fault for not following the holy man's orders. On top of this, I was nauseous again, and since I was also going to have an upper endoscopy first, we both agreed: I'd barf and aspirate the fluid. I was so mad!!! Since we're on Medicare, and my otherwise good insurance wouldn't pay for this stuff, I was out the money. Since I'm going to be rescheduled, I want the MD's office to give me some of the BIG PLASTIC BOTTLE stuff, which works without the side effects and does a good job on me. I guess you could call that endless debacle, "$145.00 Down the Tube." Someone should make a documentary by the same name.

Now, a day and a half after that mess, I'm still P.O.'d, but far worse, still dizzy. I looked that up elsewhere and found it wasn't uncommon. Have to watch going up and down stairs, for sure. And unlike a man on another site, I'm not having two days of the runs, I'm still backed up! As they say in commercials, individual results may vary, but for this savvy woman, NO MORE PREPOPIK EVER. Oh, and did you know it's made in China??? Probably by the people who made poisonous dog food for America's top name in pet food.

I have ben reading other posts here and am reading people are having bad side affects.
I guess everyone is different. Last year I had my 4th colonoscopy (swore the other preps would kill me and did not want to ever have another colonoscopy) I bit the bullet and asked if there was any prep better then the old ones I took in the past. Doc. said yes and gave me a free coupon for Preopik I could use at my local CVS. CVS said the prep was around $90.00 out of pocket. CVS honored my free coupon. The prep was the best for me. When taking the first dose it took a few hours to work but it kicked in..NO doubled over cramps, cold chills, nausea, flu like feeling for this prep. The only thing I regretted is that I did not start the prep earlier in the day I waited until 3:00 afternoon and was still on the toilet until after midnight. I was tired when i was done. If I ever needed another Colonoscopy I would opt for the Preopik again.

I am with this lady. I will never use PREPOPIK again. It did not work and cost me $140.00. Get the stuff in the gallon jug. It works and does not cost an arm and a leg.

Thank you. I was really getting freaked out from these comments. I'm supposed to get a colonoscopy at the end of October. Thank you again.

Procedure was at 9am, drank packet 1 at 5 pm, no results till 11pm, I drank the 2nd packet at 11pm, dr said was cleaned perfect and results great. No cramping, a little full feeling for awhile. Cost was 148.99 but after insurance I only paid 100.00. This was my first colonoscopy so basically all went well. The taste was fine and would use this again. Good luck to all.

my prepopik was free. It tastes like a lemony Tang. I didn't have to poop until about 4 hrs, but then whoo!

Thanks for all the info, so helpful! B/c I learned from you, I'm paying it forward. This was my first colonoscopy; 52 yo female. I took my first dose of Prepopik (cranberry flavor, yum) at 2:30 pm. Tick tock, nothing happened for hours and hours. I ate green jello, ate yellow Popsicles and drank 8 8-ounce cups of approved liquids. Kept drinking hoping that would induce "movement." :0)

At 9:00 pm, I called the on-call dr. (who happened to be my dr.) and he said go ahead and take dose 2 then instead of waiting until the morning. Was supposed to take it at 4:00 am. Appointment was at 9:15 am.

At 10:30 pm, I finally had "movement!" Glad b/c I wanted to get this over with! Went 6 more times on and off until about 2:30 am. The first visit was for 45 minutes; subsequent visits were 5-15 minutes each.

Went a few more times at home the morning of the procedure. My urge to go wasn't too urgent or scary at all.

On a scale of 1-10, I dreaded this at a level 9. In reality, the prep was a level 2. Prep was not nearly as bad as I expected. As advised, I used aloe moist wipes and cream.

I got a great report-no polyps, no nothing. Thank you Lord! Doctor said I was cleaned out very well. The friend who took me could not get over the fact that I was allowed to eat breakfast and lunch the day before my procedure with Prepopik. My dr. has a regimen to follow including low fiber diet three days before.

There's a Prepopik app but I didn't download it. Kept up with my info on paper. It wasn't ANYTHING as bad as I expected and I'm so glad to have it behind me. ;0)

I used prepopik and had extreme nausea and abdominal pain for the entire night right up to the colonoscopy. It was so painful to drink because it gave me such nausea. To the person who asked about being petite- I weigh 97 pounds and I couldn't finish the prep because I was too nausious so I left out an ounce and a half and doctor said that I was cleaned out excellently. Also my insurance covered basicly all of the cost.

I used prepopik for the first time. Hated all the others and got really sick taking them. This was great and i followed exact instructions. First dose at ten pm and drank all the liquids as indicated. Didn't start to go in till 11 pm and kept going until 3 am. I was never clear and called the MD in the morning. He thought it might just be in bowel and asked me to proceed with my 9:30 appointment. I WAS NOT CLEANED OUT AS I KNEW I WAS NOT! I was never clear. Wasted cost and time and aggravation. Need to repeat. I always cleaned out well. This was my sixth colonoscopy. This is not for everyone.

Should be taken off the market. Can't believe they're still selling it. I had a horrible reaction, almost knocked out cold, numerous others had similar reports over a year ago. What I'm seeing now looks like "reports" done by the owners of the drug.

Today was my first experience with Prepopik. Some friends had used it and said it was so much better than the other products they've used in the past. My last colonoscopy was 10 years ago and the prep was horrible!

I fasted all day, except I could eat green or yellow jello. I have been drinking lots of fluids. My first dose of Prepopik was at 3 PM. My pharmacy just gave me a lemon-flavored kit. I didn't know there were options. Anyway, I wouldn't say it was good, but it was less awful than the last prep product I used.

It worked within 15 minutes, maybe helped along by my drinking some hot chicken bouillon immediately after, along with some Sprite. I was pretty busy for the next couple of hours, but then things calmed down until the 9 PM dose. Again, I followed the prep with a flavored water chaser, and it worked in about 30 minutes. Now it's two hours later, I've been pushing fluids and seem to be pretty well cleaned out. I still have to go, but not as often, and nothing but clear fluid. I have to be at the surgery center at 6 AM, and am confident this will go well.

While this product cleaned me out as advertised without undue discomfort, and I had a good report, I have been severely constipated since (21 days and counting). No BM for first 11 days, then started Miralax for 7 days, but still had severe bloating and only 4 BM's. Been using fiber, exercise, probiotics and more Miralax. Got NO help with this from my colonoscopy doctor either, they just tried to minimized the issue and are keeping me away from the doctor and his RN. Searching all that is available is all I can do at this point, and I found others who had even more severe constipation than me. While it seems to be an uncommon result, for some like me, it is quite concerning and uncomfortable for a long period of time. Wondering if it cleaned out all the good bacteria, and severely shocked my intestines.

It tasted fine, easy to drink. BUT the cleanout was only "fair" as rated by my Dr. It took 5 hours after drinking before anything happened, and it was nothing definitive, just bits and pieces for hours, which left me exhausted, up all nite, and raw from wiping time after time. And in the morning, got up at 4:00 but same thing, no action for hours, and I was still "going" when I showed up for the procedure. NOT GOOD. Too slow acting. Complained to doc's office afterwards, and found out it's not always effective, but they give it to pacify people who can't stand the taste of the "other stuff". That's dumb. Had they told me it's not very effective I'd have opted for the horrible stuff, because objective is a clean bowel, which I did NOT have, and he almost stopped the procedure. Next time I'll go with the horrible stuff because it's effective, which is what's important.

If you don't mind my asking, how long before you started to "go". I'm two hours in and nothing.

It's been an hour since I've taken my Prepopik. Nothing has happened. I'm a little nervous. I'm just on the first prep pack of power. I've drank my 40oz of fluid. Nil, nada, zip, zilch. I wish this would hurry up. I didn't have to pay anything for the prep. My insurance covered it all, but if it doesn't work, what is the point?

Developed chills about three hours after first dose of Prepopik but the taste was fine and cramps no too bad. Drank juice, water and Gatorade.

I have had 4 colonoscopies in the past and was happy to hear about this new product. After the first packet (6pm) and I drank 6-8 ounces of water bc nothing was happening . I got alarmed in the morning as I had a tiny bowel movement the night before. I only woke up in the middle of the night to pass all the water I drank. I was instructed to take the second packet in the morning at 7am as my colonoscopy was scheduled at 1pm. After an hour of taking the second packet, Prepopkit finally kicked in. I did experience a mild stomach ache but for a very short time. Quite frankly, I was worried when nothing happened the after taking the first packet 12 hours earlier. I read the reviews and thought, what a waste of time . My patience paid off after drinking the second dose. You MUST wait for the 2-3 minutes for the contents to dissolve before drinking as I failed to do that with the first packet. I definitely would use this again!!!
