The Oxycontin you were taking and the Percocet that your doctor switched you to contain the same active ingredient, which is Oxycodone.

The only difference is that in Oxycontin it is in a time released formulation and in the Percocet, it is coupled with Acetaminophen.

If you want something that will help your pain for longer periods of time, then you will most likely need to go with one if the time release options, such as the Oxycontin.

Alternatively, there is also a time release Morphine formulation called MS Contin.

percocets do not last 6 hours they last 4 at most and you should be taking 2 every 4 to 6 hours.go on something long acting or you will regret it in long run.fast acting is for people that wont have pain in 6 months.
