The U17 have been prescribed to me on and off for about a year. I've had a generic Percocet prescription for several years. The U17 seem to have no active ingredient in them. I go through withdrawal-like symptoms (chills, tiredness, nausea, vomiting) for about 3-5 days when this is all that my pharmacy has to give me. The difference between this pill and others is rather scary for patients that have valid reasons for the prescription. A sugar pill may be more effective. The FDA needs to look in to the problem.

Had to take these U17 Auro brand generic Percocet 10/325 for a month when my pharmacy did the switcheroo on me. I went to a different pharmacy when I found out that they would be dispensing these pills indefinitely. They seemed to be very ineffective. I thought maybe it was just me. While talking to the pharmacist about this, another customer stepped forward and said his wife had the exact same complaint. He said she experienced withdrawal symptoms and no pain relief. I had no relief and in fact, got ill from these pills. I don't know if it was the batch or the brand, but I never want to go through that again. From now on, I will always ask what I'm getting before I fill my Percocets each month. Now I know that the 'bad reaction' I was having was actually withdrawals. This seems like something the FDA does need to investigate- I agree.

FWIW maybe they updated something because it looks like they just got approval for this drug 8/17 according to the FDA website. Maybe a reapproval then? I've been experimenting with them for 2 days and they seem to last longer than the Endocet which I appreciate. Who knows--these may turn out to be my new faves. I've been posting about it in threads about u17 and u 17.

Re: Skeeter (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

I have been on painkillers for 8 yrs and had all types of 10/325. There's no difference, it's all in peoples head. They see a change and right away think it's not working. Take it from me. They all have to keep to a stringent formula.

What do you mean "stringent formula"?

I have very little tolerance to opioids and got some of these u17 for recurring kidney stones and a staghorn in my renal pelvis. They took the pain right away! Probably the most effective i've ever taken. I feel pretty darn good too! Slight disassociation with euphoria.

Way better than the rhodes pharmacy percs I got for my first stones. Some people will always complain no matter what manufacturer it is. These pills are definitely legit.

Funny, I'm having stones now. :( I'm quibbling with my doc over how much to get. May I ask how much they gave you?

May I ask how much a day you are getting these days?

Flea (#8) --

Well the urologist that I started seeing wrote me a script for 60 10/325 but my insurance would only fill a week's supply which is 28. So I only got 28.

Re: Mason (# 10) Expand Referenced Message

I'm going to guess they did that because it's a first Rx. He may have to write again in a week. Call them.

Like you need a pain in your butt on top of, well, you know. ;)

I feel for you. It's a terrifically painful condition. Drink a lot (liters) of water and get a heating pad.

flea,

Yeah stones are extremely painful. I'm hoping I won't need anymore pain medicine though. It's been over a week and I still have some. I just don't want to become addicted to them. I mean, I'm not abusing them but it's my understanding that one can become dependent on them even if taken as prescribed.

Anyway, to get more I will need a pre-authorization and a new script. My insurance will only allow a 14 day supply of opiate medication every 45 days. How ridiculous is that? What are people in severe pain to do!?

Thanks for your support. I have been trying to drink plenty of fluids. I'm not the type that really likes to take medication. My primary doc tried to put me on allopurinol for gout but I don't want to take ANYTHING for the rest of my life. So for now i'm taking Potassium Citrate for 2 months hoping it will dissolve the 2cm staghorn lodged in my kidney. If it doesn't I'll have to have surgery. :(

I'm 40 and besides gout this is my only other ongoing battle with medical issues. I guess i've been lucky but the future is looking a little scary. Oh well, worrying isn't going to help right!? Hope you get to feeling better as well.

Re: Mason (# 12) Expand Referenced Message

There must be waivers or something--maybe they are trying to keep doctors cognizant of what they are writing by forcing the extra step on them. I'm guessing.

I think if you are taking them on an as needed basis and not daily you're good--you won't get physically dependent. I like to keep those two things separate--addiction and physical dependence.

You can find answers to every question on the net. I'm reading now about Toradol. Some swear by it for a bad stones event.

Good luck!

Re: flea (# 13) Expand Referenced Message

Yeah they gave me Toradol in the ER and my urologist also wrote a script for that. However it's not supposed to be taken longer than 5 days. I guess anything beyond that can pose a substantial cardiovascular risk. It did definitely help with the pain but like I said it's a one and done type of medication.

Another interesting fact about Toradol; Many NFL players take it regularly before/during games. It's commonly known in the NFL as "Vitamin T".

Re: Mason (# 14) Expand Referenced Message

Well, in the middle of my urological crisis my doc decided to cut my Endocet back 25%. Back to dysfunction for me because: "I don't want the hassle."

Just like that. He doesn't want "the hassle."

Him: Hassle. Me: Death Sentence.

All Oxycodone (U17/RP) pills today are garbage thanks to Purdue pharma trying to get richer. Now we all suffer and there's nothing we can do about it. No matter how much we complain to the FDA, pharma company, government, etc... nothing will change, so the best thing to do is get off their garbage and take their money away.
