Oxycodone (qlt)

Updated

I need to know if oxycodone (manufacturer QLT) is gluten and soy free.

Hi Bella,

According to nih.gov, oxycodone made by QLT Pharmaceuticals has been reported to contain the following set of inactive ingredients:

lactose monohydrate
magnesium stearate
microcrystalline cellulose
povidone
sodium starch glycolate
stearic acid

NOTE: the 15 and 30mg tablets also have yellow and/or blue dye.

Most of those ingredients seem fine in terms of not being associated with gluten or soy. However an article by medicine.virginia.edu states that "sodium starch glycolate" is a type of starch that's usually obtained from a potato, BUT drug companies may take it from any starch source (including those with gluten) - so you may have to speak with the manufacturer directly in order to find out what they source their "sodium starch glycolate" from.

I hope this helps!

Thank you David. I tried calling the company Friday but they were closed already. I'm going to try again Monday. I'm assuming it probably does since I'm swelling. Unless I have a reaction to lactose that I wasn't aware of. Bi gad no problems with the oxycotin. Thanks again

The insurance is playing with our lifes. This is so unfair! This is horrible my ankles legs and eyes are swollen horribly. What my insurance is pulling on me should be criminal. I had no change in prescription and i have been on a successful pain management plan for well over 10 years. By the time this hopefully gets straightened out with the insurance I will probably be back on heart meds from the swelling and increase in blood pressure, And my autoimmune lichen planis (secondary disease caused by the gluten and soy intolerance). will probably kick in and I will have blisters in my mouth, head everywhere. I could go on.. I guess I need to vent I'm scratching swollen skin and the itching won't stop I cut down the dose but now it's already in my system. I have a card that was sent to me to save 75% off medication but because i have Medicare on record they won't accept it.
