Dependent on 400mgs of Oxycodone daily (8 years prescribed) tolerance running out is there another pill that one could use to maintain potency and relieve pain. Knowing cannot just go off oxycodone wouls like to limit one in place of something else, anyone who can help it would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know what kind of pain you are having but I also take high amounts of this med. There is a over the counter med called Mucinex. You need to get the 12 hour 600mg ones. They dont know why it works but studies show that it helps pain a lot. I stumbled onto it when I had the flu..The funny thing is this med is for mucus control in the lungs. You dont have to give up any of your oxy for this. It will take about 2 weeks for it to really show but even the 1st pill will help a bit...and it just keeps making more of the pain lessen. Please try it because pain killer doesnt kill pain it just makes you not care so much. Also try Wellbutrin (Script needed) it helps with the pain that adds onto your existing pain due to depression strong chronic pain causes. Please try these 2 meds added to your existing oxy script...I hope this helps you. They have made life more bearable for me.

First, Thanks to all who are trying to help me, and battle with oxycodone, changing the subject I ask myself everyday when over a 100,000 people have artificial hips that are defective and our government is doing nothing to the companies that contribute large amounts of monies to their campaign and yet, even now with problems in Japan we will be pouring in money to help them, the monies I receive for disability would not pay for the playground equipment for our presidents kids and I am talking about a years income, my experience of all this mal-practice lead me to find out about the corruption involved and how they cover things up. I wonder if others are sick and tired of this lets keep things in AMERICA this should be our first concern, but politicians don't benefit from us. Plans on writing a book are now in progress and I will be the ghost writer but will expose so much starting with the manufacturer of hillbilly heroin, from 1965 to present is unbelievable and high name characters involved will shock you, infact one is considering running for president in next election but hopefully the book will be ready prior to and stop this America Justice died in 1968 with RFK assasination it has been downhill since and helping the disabled american is a joke, the book will be series of BLACK AMERICA nothing on race just plain corruption within, I was productive human being until doctor and manufacturers greed, time for change, this is what the medications does to one but not only myself but family is being destroyed, look at Presidents net worth before presidency and net worth today it will shock you, but a 100,000 people destroyed should be taken seriously.This is truly about medical situation and what happens. And yes, I did vote for President Obama

I was under the impression that NAPP/Mundipharma/Purdue still retained a monopoly on oxycodone production. They certainly do in the UK (NAPP OxyNorm, OxyContin).
The imprint 'ETH' means nothing to me at all.
I have no idea how, but there is a decent way of breaking down the excipients to almost clear a heated solution for injection but this is actually quite dangerous, oxy being over 2,5 x strength of morphine.
I'd have to be 100% certain of what I was doing before attempting this.

Just wanted to briefly change the subject in regards to the orange 5mg Oxy.

@Teek,
There must be some sort of error in many of the drug databases based on what you have said about the orange colored pill vs being white. I located this pill on two separate databases with that marking, which you can see (from one of those databases) in the link below:

http://fdb.rxlist.com/drugs/search.aspx?stype=drug&simprint=ETH*315&scolor=&sshape=&advsubmit.x=13&advsubmit.y=7

The company that manufactures these is Ethex Corporation. I am not trying to disprove you, but this is what comes up when you search for this pill. Ethex is a known brand and possibly recently manufactured Oxycodone (taking a guess with this)? Now there are ALSO 5mg white Oxy tabs, but the markings for these are A5 and the other is M 05 52. There are so many different brands out there now that it can be hard to keep track of what you're getting and who your getting it from.
Not trying to prove anything, but just wanted to offer what I came across. Hope this helps clear things up.

Hello
The other day someone posted trying suboxone and another medication beginning with letter N. I use 4 80mgs per day 320mgs total and 4 5/325 per day total 20/1300. The pain level has worsened severely and this new oxycodone does not work and am doing everything possible to avoid increase in medication as I hate this stuff, but now shoulders, wrists, ankles and knees hurt almost like wd symptoms there must be something available or can be added to ease this pain, pain related from artificial hip replacements, hope someone will reply with solution. Thank you

Although prescribed huge amounts of oxycodone daily after 8 years and finally hitting rock bottom need to get off the medication. Can naltrexone, taken with oxycodone, be part of weaning off process? What about suboxone? Being a person suffering with anxiety not depression a med that might help? I am 60 and age hurts availability for help, government programs to not believe at this age can be productive. Two questions what does it cost Purdue to make one 80mg pill? Second. how much taxes did they pay in 2009? Please someone HELP. Thank you
