Please help, I'm out of my 80mg. Oxycontins, I take 3 a day and I take Between 4-8 Norco's for break thru pain. With insurance change, they want $300 for RX plus a $250 deductible up front for name brand medication. This is Blue Sheild PPO by: "Covered California" and I pay them $536.22 a month for their coverage. I only need this month to be covered as my husband gets new coverage from his new job in 10 days. I have ms and I've been taking at least ten oxycodone ER 30mg a day. Will this be out of my system by the 21st of September, aka next week? It sucks to have to take this but the dr only gives extended release and I needed rapid release. My body is giving up on me. Although that is a fairly large amount hopefully if you drink plenty of water and stay as active as possible your system may be able to clear it. They contain the same active ingredient Oxycodone, in a time released formulation. The only difference is that they have been specially formulated to help prevent abuse. I have been prescribed both Oxycodone and Hydrocodone, but can't tell if one is stronger than the other. Which one is stronger? ## 5mg oxycodone, according to the equivalence table I have in front of me, is equal to about 20mg hydrocodone. Therefore the combination drug containing oxycodone should be roughly twice as strong as the one containing hydrocodone. These drugs are only available in the UK in their pure form, not adulterated with paracetamol like yours. As I have written elsewhere, I really don't see the point of the combos. Unless you are suffering a fever, in which case paracetamol will ease the body temperature. But why take the non-narcotic unless you really need it? Can a urine test tell how much i take? ## Yes, there are tests they can use that show the levels of it in your body, rather than just the presence of the medication. I'm prescribed OxyContin 20mg every 8 hours for pain. I'm having severe edema in my legs, knees, and feet. Is this a common side effect? Also, could it cause me kidney problems, since it's also causing edema? I'm starting to notice it seems my kidneys aren't working the same. I was just given 20mg Oxycodone ER instead of Oxycontin 20mg ER & am wondering if I'm to expect same relief & duration? ## Hello, Rick! How are you? I got my meds last on the 7th of august 2017 and all was good. They were put in my purse and my daughter came here with her friend who's a kleptomaniac (i was told after the incident). I always divide my new meds in half and keep the 1 half in my bag, and I buried the 2nd in a makeup bag at the bottom where you can't see them unless you're looking through it. And mind you, i gave no permission to go in my purse. I got up and literally ran to get water. Came back and noticed that my bag wasn't looking right but i didn't think much of it. So after i got some water she all of the sudden had to go and rushed out the door. Consider this! With the change related to Oxycontin my problem is the OP type of Medication just doesn't work! So... My doctor has added additonal 30mg Oxycodone's to my monthly medication list. The problem we are having is coming up with a near equal dosage. Depending upon which phamacist you talk to we are getting differnet answers. It doesn't matter howe many tablets you are prescribed the research is done by considering one 80mg Oxycodone and trying to come up wit hthe equal dosage using 30mg Oxycodone. Opinion's - One 80mg Oxycontin is supposed to last 12 hours giving 80 mg of oxycodone for the ful 12 hours, so if that is true then there has to be 960mg. of Oxycodone in each 80 mg Oxycontin. 30mg of Oxycodone tablets are prescribed for 3 - 4 hours. I recently moved to Pa, I'm having trouble finding a pharmacy in or near Langhorne that can fill my script of oxycontin 80 mg, 90 per month. My doctor won't let me have any more oxynorm. I've been having chronic pain for 2 years and a oramorph in dosage of 30 MG did nothing to help. I tried oxynorm which changed my life, 10mg three times a day. My doctor wouldn't refill the prescription but gave me slow release instead. I chewed a 10 MG slow release oxycontin tablet. Could this cause an overdose? Surely the 10mg dose cannot go any higher? ## Surely, your doctor has a duty of care? If contin has codone in it dont they both show up the same in a drug test? or can the test tell the difference? ## Yes, both are Oxycodone and will be detected as the same substance on a drug test. Where a problem usually arises is if the test is one done by a pain clinic, or treating doctor, that also checks the levels of the drug in the person's body. 10 mg oxycotin tablet is a oblong/square white pill with 10 imprinted on it other names oxy 10mg or round white pill with oc on one side and 10 mg on the other ## There are no oblong/square Oxycontin tablets, the name brand Oxycontin is only available as round tablets. The original formulation had the OC marking on them and the new ones have the OP marking on them. There are also none that I'm aware of that contain Oxycodone with Acetaminophen (Percocet) that just have a 10 on them and nothing else that match that description.
