I have had major back surgery. I had 4 fusions. I have 12 3" screws in me. I'm still in chronic pain. What is a good slow release pain medication for the day and something at night when I get home? ## Hello, Josh! How are you? There are actually several available, such as Oxycontin, which contains a time released formulation of Oxycodone. MS Contin, which is a time released formulation of Morphine and the Duragesic patch that contains the narcotic Fentanyl. These are narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Those are all options that you may want to discuss with your doctor. What are you currently taking? ## Much thanks for your response and info. I'm on ...

My previous doctor is no longer practicing and I have been a CPP for more than 20 years. For the last 7, I was prescribed 2-80 mg Oxycontin ER twice a day and 30 mg oxycodone every 6 hours for breakthrough pain. I have not been able to find a doctor who accepts my insurance, most want cash and the visits are sky high-which I wouldn't mind if I was getting prescribed a long-acting and short-acting pain medicine. If anyone has any decent PM doctors please reply. ## Hey, I'm in the same boat as you. I've been in PM for a while now taking oxymorphone er and oxycodone 30s. I'm from New Orleans but been living in Arizona while on PM. Moving back to Nola in a few months and I'm going to need a new PM Doc. Has anyone replied to your message with a good contact? If so, could ...

i would be very greatly appreciative to get an honest answer to the question if the new oxy 80 C D N are a new generic on the market in the U.S. I have remained on the oxy ops due to the fact that i have to take them for my chronic pain but i do not like the side effects at all but im stuck with them since they are my only option PLEASE REPLY ONLY TRUTHFUL AND FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGABLE COMMENTS ## The Oxycontin (controlled release) marked 80mg on one side and CDN on the other side are a "Canadian name-brand". Below is a description of the pill: "Each round, unscored, green, biconvex, controlled release tablet, imprinted with CDN on one side and the mg strength on the other, contains oxycodone HCl 80 mg." Why do so many people want to abuse OxyContin leaving those of us who actually prescribed it for pain on the edge? ## I KNOW ITS SO UNFAIR PEOPLE THAT ABUSE OXYCONTIN MAKE IT HARD FOR PEOPLE THAT HONESTLY NEED IT FOR CHRONIC PAIN. I HAVE TAKEN 4 80MG OXYS FOR 10 YEARS AND MY DOC LOST HIS LICENSE & I NEED DOCTOR WILLING 2 TREAT MY PAIN WITH IT IN MONTGOMERY OR BIRMINGHAM AREA. ## Sorry to point this out but stefanie, your approach to pain management is largely a reason for this. I am sure you are a chronic pain sufferer but the problem is that now you are looking for a doctor to specifically prescribe this drug to you - you came into this thread and instead of answering Thomas' question you posted how you are looking for a doctor for this drug. Thomas, as you can see, this medica...

I have a blue round pill that has an R on the top and 215 on the bottom. I cannot remember if it is my Oxycontin or the generic for it. Can you please let me know if it is my Oxycontin? ## Yes it is the same thing... it is oxicodone. Blue round with R and 215 is oxicodone 30mg. ## Is there any way that the R on the pill could actually be an A ? The reason I ask is because a blue round pill with A 215 on it is Oxycodone 30 mg, generic for Roxicodone. Please let me know what you think... ## what's the difference between the old ones in that say op instead of oc ..... My husband swears that op is not OxyContin please verifiy this for me ## It is Oxycontin, it is just a new formulation of it that was specially prepared to help prevent abuse. Basically, if someone tries to break it down to snort or inject it, it turns into a gummy goo that retains its time released properties. The change, however, has resulted in it not working as well for some people that had been taking it and there are also some that have experienced unusual side effects. It is even still manufactured by the same company, Purdue Pharma. Is there anything else I can help with? Learn more Oxycontin details here. ## What is op? Oxycontin is morphine.Endone & oxycodone are the same & break down the same way morphine does!

I got my Oxycontin (name brand) today and thought i had gotten the generic because it had OP imprinted on it instead of th regular OC imprinted on it. I ask my phamacist what was going on and he said that Oxycontin had changed their logo. I noticed the pill was slighly bigger so when i took my pill i noticed it give me heartburn really bad just like the generic did when i tried the generic. Now i am in pain, i have the heartburn, and i don't know if i will be able to hold this new formular down because i am so sick at my stomach. Do you think Purdue will ever change the formula of Oxycontin back to the original? I sure hope so. I am going to start a petition to get the old formula back again. I need to fill a script for oxycodone before I go in for a visit and don't want them to know. I was on weekly visits recently and they accidentally gave me a duplicate script. Someone has stolen my meds. I just got off probation so telling them that and showing up without a pill count doesn't sound like a real option. So I want to fill this week's prescription and use a few toward my pill count. I don't care if they know I filled it later. I will tell them. But my question is (I go in the morning), when will it show up on my report they print off showing the meds I filled?

Yesterday my doctor wrote me a prescription for "Oxycontin 20mg tablets" When I got to shoppers I was told they no longer make that medication. I was looking to get the generic oxycontins that I know are now available in Ontario. My doctor does not know much about this medication, and I am curious if she needs to write the prescription out differently. (I am thinking the generic name for oxycontin is oxycodone) Does anyone know for sure? As I have an appointment at the end of January and would be able to get the generic oxycontins that help relieve my chronic pain. I just need to be able to tell my doctor what the generic name is. Thank you in advance for all your help. ## Hi Mac, Oxycodone and Oxycontin are actually a little bit different. Oxycodone is an immediate release vers...

Live in Tampa and I have been on oxycontin SR 80mg, for 10 yrs. Prescribed by my physician , for injury. I can't afford the price my pharmacy is charging me. If I take an OxyContin 80 mg at 10 PM Monday night, and on Tuesday morning I take one 80 mg + one 30 mg Oxycodone at 7 AM would it be working in my body by 8:30 that morning? Thanks ## Yes, based on your dosage schedule I'd say it would definitely be working in your body by then, regardless of whether you take immediate release or a delayed release formulation. For instance, conventional oxycodone has a peak plasma concentration in your blood stream of about 1 hour after taking it, whereas the time-released version would reach its peak after about 3 hours. Half life can be up to about 4 hours, and traces of it remain in your body for up to 72 hours (but by that time you would probably have taken your next dose if you are on a regular pain management schedule). Hope this helps! ## Ho...

The only time released formulation approved in the U.S. is the original name brand manufactured by Purdue Pharma. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
