I have been on Oxycontin for 3 years. I am not stupid, I did not ask the doc to keep increasing my meds, I would decide to stop taking them for a two week on and two week off if I could. I am in chronic pain,my life has been altered to the degree I cannot walk without assistance any distance. I do walk into a store that has carts to push. Two back surgeries, the type of back that just keeps getting worse, had I not had the surgery I think I could have controlled the pain with Vicodan and Advil. But the doc. said I had to have the surgery. then the 2nd one did me in.It is a reputable doc who has done many surgeries, my opinion he wanted the money because this is when they discovered surgery was making things worse more than better. I blame that doc for me being in the pain I am in and fo...

The ones with the OC marking were the original product, manufactured by Purdue and were also the name brand. Pharmacies were permitted to sell them, un...

Dropped one oxycontin 40mg op tabs in the sink, what a slimmy mess, what are they making them out of, is it harmfull? ## No, it is not harmful, however, they have been specially designed to help prevent abuse. The substance is supposed to be something that can only be broken down by stomach acid, so it retains its time released properties, even if someone tries to chew, crush or dissolve them. Do you have any other questions? ## worried about addiction and what is the best help to get ## worried about addiction to oc's and what is the best way to get help ## I have these OP 40mg ocycontins. The Internet is flooded with horror stories about these arrogant, cocky, self absorbed pharmacists who think their s*** doesn’t stink as well as the pharmacy themselves. CVS and Walgreens have grown too big for their britches, but what I don’t understand is why people insist on flooding these stores every time they get a prescription? Insurance is insurance and there are tons of small pharmacies that will all go out of their way to cater to you a lot better than the name brands/chain brand outlets. So I ask again why do y'all keep going to a pharmacy that you hate? I think we should all have a national "go somewhere other than CVS or Walgreens" month! ## Well I'm on many medications and Walgreens not only has auto refill, but all my meds show up at my door ex...

Much to my surprise 2 days ago my pharmacy gave me generic OxyContin instead of Brand OxyContin. I have been on 40 mg. OxyContin 3x's daily and have been for 15 years. I don't think twice about them as there is a 2 hour window to take it and never any problems with them, only my Sister knows I have even have to take them (I'm 57 years old). These Generic Oxycontins are identical in color, size, markings, everything which is odd. The only information I can find on the content of the drug is that the generic is the same as the brand name Only in the inactive ingredients but the active ingredience are different. The reason I'm asking about them is I feel absolutely terrible, I'm having stomach pains, all my joints hurt, having very bad headaches and I rarely get headach...

Learn more Oxycontin details here. That said, they have no intention of bringing back the original product and there are no pharmacies in the U.S. that have it in stock to fill your prescription. I'm sorry, I know many people have problems with it, since it doesn't seem to be as effective. Have you considered switching to a different medication? ## I ...

switching back to original form ## Would you care to elaborate? What is your source? ## Yes, we would like more details on this. I just did a search in my sources and haven't found anything with even a hint that they have decided to go back to the original formula. For many of the people that use it for chronic pain that are now experiencing problems, it would be a great boon. ## need help for filling priscription haveing to take3 80 a day have gragalated higher over 13 years lost my incheranece help please my body wont funchen with out the op are not any thing like the oc ## I have suffered from pain due to injuries since the week before my 21st birthday. didn't start taking pain meds til 3rd injury which occured in my early 50's Have suffered long enough and at my age just...

I have been struggling with chronic pain most of my life. I have been taking 3 60MG Extended Release Oxycontin tablets a day along with 3 30MG Oxycodone instant release for breakaway pain. After 3 years of the same dosage it's not working as well as it used to. So my doctor decided to change up the meds a bit. She gave me Morphine Sulphate 60MG ER twice a day and for the life of me I cannot feel this working. It's only been a day but usually I would have pain relief around 30-45 after taking the Oxycontin and then about 3-6 hours of relief. How is this Morphine twice a day at the same MG going to give me the same relief I was getting before AND was already struggling with hence the change to the Morphine? I don't get it, especially after everything I have read falls in line ...

I have been taking hydrocodone 10-325 for 8 or 9 years. And now my doctor wants to put me on oxycontin. I have never taken any before and he did not say what strength. What are the dosages??? Is it any better than the hydrocodone 10-325??? ## Hello, Tazman57! How are you? Oxycontin is a time released formulation of Oxycodone, the medication is slowly released over a 12 hour period. It is stronger than Hydrocodone, you only need 6.67mgs of Oxycodone to equal each 10mgs of Hydrocodone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. It's available in varying doses starting at 10mgs and going all the way up to 160mgs. Is there anything e...

I am a RSD patient that felt fortunate I only took 3 1/2 years to be diagnosed. For the last 8 years , in East Tn,I have been taking oxycontin and oxycodone, now some new law is passed and I can no longer get my Rx from my pain Dr, because they don't have the license required to be able to write Rx as large as my past (which I have become very use to & are working less than in pass) so I am sent to a clinic with this license. All if a sudden I am being treated like a hard core criminal trying to scam them, with my current MRI's and nerve diagnostics! I was photographed and then filmed after the ua stating my name and date of birth as I put urine in bag to be sent off to San Diego for a 16 panel analysis that cost $1,137, for the ua! The P.A. who I was assigned to, I couldn...

THE NEW OXYCONTIN DOES NOT WORK, IT IS MAKING PEOPLE SICKER THAN THEY WERE TO START WITH AND WE ARE BACK WHERE WE STARTED. I CAN NOT EVEN PLAY OR HOLD MY 6 GRANDCHILDREN. PEOPLE SUE OVER DRUGS, WE NEED AN ATTORNEY FOR THEM CHANGING A DRUG THAT DOES WORK. IF ANY ONE THINKS THAT ABUSERS ARE NOT GOING TO FIND AND ABUSE SOMETHING ELSE AND A LOT CHEAPER THEY WILL NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THEM, BUT THERE IS NO REASON IN THE WORLD THAT THEY ARE OR HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE THE PEOPLE THAT DO NOT ABUSE THEM SUFFER ! AND NOW EVEN MORE DUE TO EXTRA SIDE EFFECTS. ## Getting an attorney to take such a case, especially since there is no real injury involved, because of the fact that there are other medication options that you can use, is going to be very difficult. blue round pill ## Are you supposed to take 4 tablets a day? ## It really depends on what they are talking about. There is no Roxicontin! It is either Oxycontin, which is a 12 hour time released medication, meant to be taken twice a day or Roxicodone, which is meant to be taken more frequently. Can the original post please clarify? ## just found out my daughter & son in law are hooked on what they call roxycottin 30 mg and she is trying to come off of it , but is having withdraws and her husband did some today and is in happy world what do I do to get her some help she wants to come home and have me help her get off of this crap can some one help me here. ## tell her to take suboxen ## First she is addicted to a powerful narcotic analgesic, so do you want the good news or the bad ne...

When taking a urine drug test, does oxycontin and oxycodone come up as the same drug? I took a 40mg oxycontin on a monday and was drug tested on thurs. I am tested once a month from my pain mangement dr. to make sure my oxycodone's are in my system. So will the 2 drugs show up as one or is there a differance in them with the drug test? ## No, there is not difference between them for a drug test, Oxycocodone is the active ingredient in both, so they will show up as the same thing. However, what you may run into is having a different level of it in your body than what they would expect if you were taking the exact amount prescribed. Some of the pain management clinics use tests that show the level in your body, so they can tell if someone is not taking their medications, at all, or if...

I understand that oxycotin is the brand name of time released oxycodone but need to know if anyone has actually taken a urine test after taking oxycotin but are being prescribed the 30 mg blues. I got tested but had suboxone, subutex, ops, and 30s in my system, I had been going to that doc for years and had no clue he started testing. It was the type that gave immediate results and when he went over the results I was still in such shock that I can't remember the breakdown but it did have a +/- for suboxone and I'm worried that there was one for oxycotin. I'm 3 days short of the 30s before my visit so I want to be sure I can take oxycotin so I don't get sick and pass the test if I have to take one??? ## Billy727 how did your result come up? I've been taking oxycontin 30mg with oc on them - this time i got oxycontin 30 with op on them and they seem to make me sick. What is the difference? ## Oxycontin OP is brand new to the market and is replacing the regular Oxycontin. The only difference is that the Oxycontin OP has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse. Even if someone tries to crush or chew it, it will retain its time released properties. Otherwise, it works the same and has the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I am not certain why it would be making you sick, as compared to the other ones, have you tried contacting your doctor or pharmacist about it? ## the new pill u are now getting is a new formula of the old oc and is supposed to be tamper proof so people cant abuse th...

STILL LOOKING FOR ANY NEWS ON WETHER OR NOT THEY'RE WILL BE A LAWSUIT AGAINST PURDUE AND ITS NEW FORMULATION OF OXYCONTIN AND HOW ITS ROTTING PATIENTS TEETH. ## As a point of awareness, the original "OC" version of OxyContin can cause tooth damage. Actually, ANY narcotic can damage the teeth. Heroin, morphine, oxycodone, codeine, hydrocodone - makes no difference. Time release, instant release, injection, suppository - delivery method isn't important either. Any opiate or opioid can cause dry mouth - which can damage teeth. Another often overlooked factor is that these drugs cause sedation and drowsiness: not unusual for someone to take their dose and fall asleep without brushing or flossing teeth. ## I would like to find out if there is any class action lawsuits involvi...

I came across some green pills that look like OC 80's but they are imprinted with APO on one side and OCD 80 on the other. Can someone please tell me what they might be? ## I have tha same ones. I heard there generic oxy contin 80mg. Not sure I would like to know aswel. ## From what I could gather, this pill is in fact confirmed to be controlled release Oxycodone/Oxycontin (80mg). The paragraph quoted below describes it in more detail: "APO-OXYCODONE CR 80 mg: Each tablet contains 80 mg oxycodone hydrochloride. Green, round, biconvex film-coated tablets, engraved “APO†on one side, “OCD†over “80†on the other side. Available in bottles of 50 and 100 tablets." Manufacturer: Apotex, Cana...

I'm on oxycontin 80's and I've been on them for 8 yrs. I am required to take a test every 6 mos. I've never had any problems until october. That was the first time I had to do a test with the oxy op's instead of the oxy oc's. My test came back back saying that methodone (that i've been on for 19 yrs.) and adavan (for 5 yrs.) was not showing up in my system! I lost my Dr. and my meds. It took 4 month to get another dr. and when she did the test it still didn't show up. I lost my meds again. This resulted in my ending up in the hospital with a heart attack, confulsions, my lungs shutting down and I had to be resisitated. I can't help but wonder if this is not the result of the oxycontins being reformulated. I never had an issue before that. Nothing else...
