I am very sorry that you are going through such a rough time of it.
However, if you agreed to their treatment terms, when you became a patient there, then they had every right to dismiss you and you are actually very fortunate that they gave you one last prescription, because many doctors don't even do that much. Many people have just been cut off, with no final prescriptions provided.
Under most pain management contracts, getting medications from someone else, even under those circumstances, is considered a violation and they make very few exceptions. The proper thing to do would have been to actually call them and report what happened and ask for their assistance first.

That said, you are going to have to stick with pain management specialists, because under the new laws, general practice doctors and surgeons will only be able to prescribe controlled substances for short-term treatment, such as immediately after someone has had surgery, or been in an accident and is recovering. Anyone that needs them for long-term treatment of chronic pain will have to see a pain management doctor for continued treatment, because there are concerns about people being overmedicated and mismanaged by doctors that aren't specially trained to handle such issues.
For you, I'm afraid that may create a new problem, because your being dismissed is going to be noted in your medical records and, if you do find a new place that will take you on as a patient, you are likely going to be very closely monitored and have to agree to even more strict guidelines.

Yes, I know, nothing I said really helps.
Does anyone know of a pain treatment center in that area that may be able to help?
