I think my boyfriend is taking oxytec he is very angry all the time and gets violent at the drop of a hat could this be the caused by the pill?

The tablet with the TEC marking that contains Oxycodone, contains 5mgs of it and 325mgs of Acetaminophen, the active ingredients in Percocet, it is a narcotic pain reliever.

And no, those aren't normal side effects of narcotic use, normally they would cause nausea, dizziness and drowsiness, because they depress the body and the central nervous system.

However, what may be causing the problem are withdrawals, if he's abusing it and then running out. The withdrawal symptoms can cause the problems you described, as well as vomiting, fever and chills.

Yes extreme anger can be a side effect of opiates, more specifically it is connected to the dose and usually manifests when the user has taken enough to get high. If he is experiencing Opi-rage (colloquial term for it) he should talk to his M.D. about reducing the dose or trying a different medication.

How do I know? Studied pharmacology while being trained as a medic. I have also been prescribed Hydromorphone as well as Oxycodone for around 10 years now and have experienced opiate rage, I have also talked to other patients who have similar experiences (whereas some have never experienced, go figure)

The pill is a ratio-Oxycocet (white biconvex pill marked TEC on one side, one score line | on the other. This is a generic of the name brand drug called "Percocet" it contains 325mg APAP (ie Tylenol) and 5mg Oxycodone [same active drug used in OxyContin, it is in the same family as Heroin, Morphine etc]).

While some people do get irritable when in withdrawal, the sound of the post by the OP ("angry at the drop of a hat") sounds far closer to the effects of opiate induced irritability, which can go from top of the world to violently irritated at the smallest thing (such as a page taking too long to load on the Internet, the sound of someone's voice etc.) the OP also mentions her BF is taking them constantly, so he clearly has a continuous supply and is therefore unlikely to be in W/D. Please comment when you have actual first-hand experience / knowledge in the area and not just a quick google check and/or hearsay. While it is okay to be helpful and provide information, do not speculate or add what you think is correct because you have done some quick reading on a topic. At best it makes you look foolish, at worst you could cause someone to be seriously injured based on your false representations.

PS. Despite this thread being some time old, I am writing this response in the hopes that misinformation will be cleared up on this still very prominent search engine result that turns up when searching this topic.
