Oxy 30s Impossible To Find At Walgreens In Clearwater

Updated

I've been trying to fill a script for 180 oxycodone 30mg since Jan 5 with no luck. I spent the better part of the day today looking again. I was told by a pharmacist that the oxy 30s are being re-formulated and are on back-order. I found them at Baylife pharmacy on Gulf to Bay for a ridiculous price, $7 per pill. The SweetBay on 580 in Dunedin had them but would not fill my script as I am not an existing customer. I went back to my Dr. and had him write my script for 15s instead, the caveat was he cut it in half, but hey, half my script is better than none of it. Anyway, the Walgreens on Roosevelt and 58th filled 102 oxy 15s for $60.92 (with a perscription discount card I got off the internet) at 3:00 this afternoon. This is totally f***ed. Next Dr. visit, I am going to tell my Dr. that I don't want 30s anymore, write me as many 15s as you can and give me the rest in methadone. Oxy 30s are not going to get any easier to find. They are out there, but you will pay between $5 to $10 per pill. The only people that can afford oxy 30s are the a**holes that send multiple people to doctors, take over half their script and sell it on the street for $20-$25 each pill. Good job government, the only people that can afford scripts are drug dealers.

I wanted to post information regarding the crisis happening in FL with pharmacies not filling LEGAL prescriptions.

SO, Take this OPPORTUNITY put together by American Pain Foundation (APF) & FL APF Leader, and SIGN this PETITION and FORWARD it. Support our rights to fill LEGAL PRESCRIPTIONS in the state of FL.

Link for Petition:

The second link is for a SURVEY to convey the issues you may have had with pharmacies in FL. This is very important to make sure our voices are heard. SO, please fill out the SURVEY with your experiences with your pharmacy(s), so we can clearly explain the type of problems we are having. If we don't stand up and speak up, we have no one to blame but ourselves. We do not want FL to end up like Washington State (please research), and we are well on our way, as they have taken so many liberties (DEA, Politicians, Pharmacies, Health Care field) away...even when we have this PMDP database that is suppose to make it better, IT IS NOT.

I am also including information regarding the American Pain Foundation if you are interested in joining for support, or to help advocate for your rights: painfoundation.org. Find your leader for the American Pain Foundation by going to the the website, click get involved. A drop down list appear, click leaders. This will take you to a map of the country and click on your state. Your leaders email address will be shown.

The Leader for Florida is handling this situation. Email her and she will fill you in on what's being done about our problem. For those in FL, there is also an APF Florida Facebook page, for support and working together to be heard. Hope to see you there.(run by FL APF Leader -Search- American pain foundation action network florida- Go to the group page. You will have to be added as a member. This is a closed group for privacy. Make sure you choose group NOT page.)

We need to be heard, and protect our legal rights. Florida is in a crisis right now as many are turned away, lied to, profiled etc.. This isn't going to change. It is NOT the pharmacist's job to determine if we actually deserve the medication, that decision is up to our DR.s.

Thanks for Reading and hope to see your support

There is a hard limit set for any controlled substance for the amount of it that can be manufactured and distributed each year. Once that limit is reached, the manufacturers cannot provide pharmacies with any additional supply, until into the new year.

That is what happened towards the end of 2011 and it seems some areas are still having trouble getting enough of a supply in to meet the remaining demand from those that are still trying to get their prescriptions filled.

I am sorry for the difficulties you are having, but you may be better off asking your doctor about switching to another medication that isn't prescribed as frequently as Oxycodone.

Are there any questions or comments?

e11,thank you,i saw this post on another link and glad i saw it again.I have been going to a neurosurgeon since 08 and after the steriod injections wore off,and needless to say i was rear ended in a work vehicle and let go due to not being able to do the same type of work i used to,roofing, thanks for the right to work law.it sure doesn't help an employee. so no insurance no injections. But i started on hydrocoden for 1 and a half years and then was refered to pain management.now i cant get over how an anastiesiologist(sp) has to write me a prescription and not my back doctor!Seems to me the state made a crapload of money and now they blame eveyone else for the drug problem they created. It's like everyone says, only the illegal people can afford them.if i wasn't in pain from my back being shot i wiuldnt need them.I finnally saved up enough money to go back to my pain dr and let me tell you the past 2 months have been terrible.but what other option can i ask for?i know your not even supposed to ask them but i cant afford 600 bucks when i used to get them from wallgreens for 70 bucks,oh yea they said the new law last year said i have to go to a dr in my county, they said no new patients, and the county where my dr is,that wallgreens said i'm a new customer!!!i showed the a years worth of reciets.sad thing is i had to go up north for a family emergency and the dr filled my script, postdated, and WALGREENS there filled it in 5 mins. i swear if i wind up killing myself becuase of this bs myt sis will have a field day with the damn state and pharmacys
