Oxecta For Pain Management

Updated

Does anyone know anything about this new medication, and the strength's that they are available in? I'm in desperate need to find a new medication to replace the meds that I've been prescribed for the past 5 years! I've been prescribed Opana ER 40mg tablets, and my dosage is take 2 tabs by mouth 3 times daily. That's for my long-term, and I take Opana IR 10mg's 1 tab by mouth 6 times daily for break-thru pain. I'm disabled, and have several different spinal diseases causing a great deal of pain all day & night. There's no cure for Spinal Arachadontis, and severe nerve impingements throughout my entire lower lumbar that causes severe pain down my legs, shin, and throbbing pain under my knee cap!! It's God Awful, and since my doctor took me off Methadone & Oxyfast, and switched me to Opana my pain levels & blood pressure & heart rate have all been decreased so much! It's almost unbelievable what a huge difference in my overall life, and outlook on my life that a different medicine effects & controls the pain to a 3-4 on the paen scale, from where I use to be at 7-8 with my meds! That's a huge difference that Opana made in my life, it was worth the $3000/month for both of my meds, but now they have messed with the formula and was on back- order for weeks! Then they release a round 40mg Opana ER , that is NOTHING EVEN CLOSE, and I've been in so much pain again with there new formulated tablet thats just HORRIBLE!! I don't know what else to do, my doctor would like to see me keep trying it for a few more months and see if the new tablets might start helping, and I understand he's my doctor, and he's great but I know my body, and my pain levels, blood pressure, heart rate, has all been effected so I know it's the new formulated Opana ER'!! I haft to find a new medication that will help me get my life back to where it was with the original Opana! Please let me know if there's anything available that might help me like the Opana, thank u very much & God Bless

Oxecta is just another form of Oxycodone and, if approved, it will be available in 5mg and 7.5mg strengths, but it has not been approved by the FDA, yet.

There is, however, a time released formulation that is already available under the brand name Oxycontin.

Have you ever tried it?

I had similar situation and I asked to change to much more of the 10 mg IR GENERIC made by Roxane, eliminating the ER Opana all together, but also adding Oxycontin 80 mg to help with the ER function. This also reduces the coist and allows insurance to pay for the 10 mg IR oxymorphone as the Roxane pills are considered generic. So I can get up to 300 per month and not pay anything over the copay. 10 pills per day of the IR is better than the ER anyway. These are soluble and work a lot better than these new ER formulations. Hope this helps

I was on oxycontin 80 mg 2 times and oxycodone 30 mg 3 times a day. When they changed the formula It didn't work anymore. I have been on Methadone for about 6 months but, it doesn't help at all for my pain and I stay sick to my stomach constantly and I break out in a sweat all the time. I am miserable. What is there that I can ask my Dr. to change me to that will work better than the methadone. Please help I have a austistic child to take care of and I am miserable.
