Outrage

Updated

My fiancé has been receiving hydromorphone 8mg tablets for fibromyalgia and several herniated discs for over 4 years now. For most people in the same situation as my fiance and those who are prescribed similar medication for chronic pain know about the problems that are continuing to occur when filling theses particular medications. We are well aware of the epidemic and abuse of this medication and medications like it however his diagnosis' is legit as well as his prescriptions and we constantly have a difficult time filling his prescriptions. He works for bright house and does extremely hard work outside as a lineman and needs this medication to function at work and through daily activities. I hate to say but young people who have taken advantage of these pills and used them for recreational use have ruined it for the people who really need the meds. Regardless, I still feel that in order to control the distribution of the meds to keep the overdoses and abuse down, they are in turn preventing the people who need these medications from getting them, or having to go to extreme lengths to obtain. His blue cross blue shield insurance just hit a few months ago and bc of the shortage, or so called shortage...who knows if that's correct, we were talked in by his insurance company to take advantage of their ninety day mail in order through their mail in company "prime therapeutics", what a joke! Because of the issues here in st. Petersburg at the retail pharmacies and the profiling we made it absolute clear we could not spend the time, extra money, and did not want to drop our normal pharmacy if they were to foresee a possible problem filling the medication. They assured us that as long as it was a legitimate prescription that we would have no worries and to go ahead and send it in. After four days we recieved a call letting us know it was going to be shipped in the next day and I called to follow up, it was not nil twenty mins into the conversation that they made a mistake and would be returning our prescriptions back. They did not take into consideration he would be out of his meds bc we could not have dr rewrite until old ones were in hand and that we would have to wait 30 days for a round on our money. They said there pharmacy goes by certain guidelines and when they explained them to me, my fiancé clearly met all of them...when I asked to know the reason they were denying filling his meds they clearly had no real answer. They repeated the same thing like an automated service, and asked that we respect the decision of the pharmacys authority and would receive our prescriptions back to us. Again they did not give us the reason he was denied. Our insurance company said she saw no reason as to why they gave us such a hard time and called them herself only to have a negative response as well. Later I noticed the company had over 86 complaints in the last 2 months. Please help so my fiancé can find a group of individuals that care about the well being of their patients.
