Since the pharmacutical company has changed the Opanas my medicine isnt doing what I need to relief me of my pain, what are the best medications should I talk over with my Doctor in order for me to get that will give me the satisfaction of not hurting constantly like the old Opanas did? ## There is a time released medication available called Exalgo, which contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, it is also a very potent narcotic. Another option would be MS Contin, which is a time released formulation of Morphine, it's also available as a generic. Have you talked to your doctor about it, yet? ## I am on 4 30ml Oxy ir and 2 30 ml of morphine sulfate the morphine makes me nauseated. What should I ask my doctor to switch me to 40ml Oxy ER? ## If in the USA try immediate release Opan...

I'm quiting Opana using Suboxone. I've gradually come down from Opana ER 40 mg to 10 mg over a period of 6 months, and am switching today to Suboxone film. Dr told me to wait 24 to 36 hrs before starting Subs (wait till I can't stand the withdrawals any longer). Normally on 10 mg Opana I start to feel withdrawals within 12 hrs, can't get comfortable in my skin, can't sleep, restless leg etc. Problem is I ran out of 10 mg yesterday so the single last Opana I took was an ER 40 mg. It's been 30 hrs and still no noticable withdrawals. I don't want to start the Suboxone until feeling the withdrawals as instructed cause I don't want the Subs to kick in and suddenly block the Opana causing worse withdrawals. How long should I wait? ## There is really no precise ...

Has anyone heard when novartis plant will start making opana ER again? This was my best pain med. ## Hi Donna, Some information that I've gathered on the topic has led me to believe that it shouldn't be more than a year till they reopen: "Novartis Chief Executive Officer Joseph Jimenez said the drugmaker is in discussions with the FDA about restarting production at its Lincoln, Nebraska, plant. Novartis temporarily suspended operations at the facility after consumer complaints about broken pills and packaging mix-ups, the Basel, Switzerland-based company said Jan. 8. While Jimenez declined to comment on when the plant may reopen, he said analyst reports that the plant could be closed for a year were a 'big surprise' to him." my Dr prescribed Opana 40mg as alternative to Oxy 80 mg 2 twice a day which I would insufflate - I didn't tell him this of course. he claimed them to be just as good if not stronger can any one share about opana 40mg ## Inhaling medications that are not intended for that method of usage is very dangerous. You run the risk of overdose and creating blockages in your lungs, which can lead to breathing problems, embolisms and stroke. Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone, this is a potent narcotic pain reliever. Side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. THis dosage is about the same as what you were taking of the Oxycontin. Do you have any other questions? ## i was taking three oc 40's a day, when the new op 40's came out they seemed to...

My dr is giving me the choice to try Opana and I would like to know if anyone has tried it and what your experience has been. I have a male friend who tried it and said it did absolutely nothing for him. Karel ## Since this is a narcotic, a synthesized morphine compound, how well it works would depend upon the dosage prescribed and the tolerance that the patient has built up to narcotics. The Extended Release form would cause fewer side effects than the instant or regular release, since it slowly releases the dose over a certain time period for better pain control. To find a dosage that works for you, be it this med or some other, is purely a trial and error system between you and your doctor. You would need to try the first prescribed amount for a few weeks, and if that didn't get ...

My doctor prescribed it today for back and shoulder injury. Walmart and CVS doesn't have it and Walgreens won't give me the info over the phone. ## Hi, Sonja! What is your general location? It's very hard for someone to suggest a pharmacy that may have them in stock, without any idea where you are. Can you please post back with more details, such as the nearest large city? Thanks! ## Sonja---hope this info will help you now or in the future. I have done this twice with some success. Email the manufacture by going to their website endo.com/contact and filling out the information. I provided the prescription info such as Opana ER 40mg 60 tabs and Opana ER 20 mg 120 tabs etc, then I gave my city and zip code along with my name and phone number and asked them to locate stock for...

I am currently taking Opana ER 20mg 3xday. It is VERY costly &was wondering if anyone knew if the maker of this med gives low income people a discount or coupon?? ## They currently do not have a program of that nature. Many, many people need such a program but generally you can't get help for pain management. I am on Opana IM & ER @ $1760.00 a month. Thank God for my insurance! ## Yes, getting assistance for these types of medications is very difficult. If you have no insurance at all, you can try: PPARX.org and see if they have a program to help. Have you tried asking your doctor for another alternative? ## Visit and print a free discount drug card. You will receive substantial discounts for you, your family and Pets. ## If you can not afford your pain medications the best...

So I heard on the news yesterday that the FDA WANTS to stop production of Endo's Opana. Now my question is are they also gonna make IMPAX/Global to stop production on their generic oxymorphone too? Or is this aimed directly at Endo? I have a script right now that I can't fill for another 2 and a half weeks. What's gonna happen when I bring it in to get filled? It's written as oxymorphone ER NOT OPANA is that gonna matter or am I screwed? Plus on a side note if I would have to get it changed (my script). Would it be too much to ask my Doc to write for 100mg MS Contin or is that too big of a jump from the oxymorphone 30mg ER that I've been getting for a year now? I only ask that because every other milligram of MS CONTIN does not work for me. Only the 100's do anyt...

Need to know what it's gonna show up as and how long it takes to get out your system? ## It will show up as morphine percocet oxy cotton all show up as morphine from what I have experienced. ## It will show up as an opiate and it takes approximately 35 to 54 hours to be processed out of your body, that may vary slightly from person to person. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am currently on Opana ER 20mg twice daily, but with not much pain relief. Would a prescription of 30mg twice daily OR 20mg three times a day be reasonable? I have been in significant pain for a long time and want to get something that would make the pain more bearable. ## It really depends on you. A higher may help, but there is a chance that it might now, it could be that this just isn't the right medication for you. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Are you on any other medications?

I accidentally took two 10mg opana tablets at the same time. What should I do? Please let me know. I have never done this before so please write me back as soon as possible. ## How long have you been taking it, or other opiates? There is a risk of overdose, the FDA lists such symptoms as possibly including nausea, severe dizziness, severe drowsiness, and somnolence. Did you experience any adverse effects? How are you doing, now? Are you on any other medications?

Can ms contin 100mg be taken with opana er 20mg? ## Well MS Contin contains the active ingredient Morphine. Opana ER contains Oxymorphone. The Oxymorphine is much more powerful and only requires a fraction of the dose that was being taken of the Morphine. Both are time released. They also share the same side effect profiles: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Read more: Is there anything else I can help you with? ## I was on Opana about 8 years ago but it was at a time that I was still working. After a few days of taking it I started to get dizzy, sleepy and my computer monitor appeared wavy. I couldn't work like that so I asked to have my old meds back. I wish I had never done that cuz now I'm permanently disabled and cannot seem to get my doc to put me back on Opa...

I have tried Subutex for 4 month, it does not help my stomach pain and getting worse. I can't enjoy life or my new daughter and it's affecting job as well. I was told it helped someone else but it doesn't for me. I moved back to my home town and now can go back to my Dr. I would like to see them again and get back on something for the pain I would like to at least enjoy life - I know it's not gonna fix it but at least allow me to function and live a little better. I'm afraid to ask the Dr. about Opana 5 ER. I have talked to some people with my problem and they said it has saved them. I've done a lot of research it's the smallest size. I would just like my doctor to let me try it out, so what can I tell them? ## Hello, Cor! How are you feeling? Has your doctor...

i have been on both oxycotin 80mg and opana 40mg, i started off on opana and when they were changeing the ingred. i had to go on oxycotin 80 mg, i will always say opana 40 are alot stronger than oxycotin 80s i get alot more pain relief on opanas, i read all the time its 10mgs of opana to 30mgs of oxycotin i believe it.... ## Hello, Delta! How are you? Opana is actually twice as strong as Oxycodone, so it would take 20mgs of Oxycodone to equal 10mgs of Opana and how well it works can vary from person to person. There are other posts on here from people who had better results with Oxycontin than they had with Opana. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry ...

I recently had a problem with my insurance and could not get my prescriptions. During this period, I took oxycontin 40 mg to substitute UNTILL I could get my regular medication. My Question is, will the oxycontin show up in my urine along with my regular medication ..Or is the Opana a mixture of oxycontin and morphine. My regular RX is opana 40 twice daily and oxycodone 10 mg for breakthrough three times a day.. ## Hi, total different drugs. Yes it will show up totally different. Good luck. I hope this helps someone else. ## If your rx includes the regular oxycodone then the OxyContin will show up the same as the oxycodone you are prescribed. They include the same active ingredient. I want to know all painkillers that are opiates that start with the letter O. I would like to know this because I think my doctor ordered a painkiller that I'm allergic to and it starts with an O and I'm not sure what it is... ## Does Opana a have generic? I was taking hydromorphone but I was getting headaches. What do you recommend? ## @Dutch - off the top of my head (listing both brand and generic names) ... Opana, Oxymorphone, Oxycodone, OxyContin. Do any of those ring a bell? You should check out the category page on Pain Relief, then scroll down past the list of discussions to where it says "Pain Relief Medications", and that list is in alphabetical order so you can just scroll down to drugs starting with "O". Hope this helps!

I have been prescribed Opana ER 40 mg three times a day, since 2003. In the last two months it has become unavailable from the manufacturer, you. I have been able to substitute 20 mg ER and it works, just more pills. Now they have become unavailable, and it hurts. You can't just stop taking this medication. I'm sure you know after eight years you go thru withdrawals on top of the pain. What can I replace the Opana with? ## No, this site is not the manufacturer, this site does not manufacture any medications, or products, this is an information only website. The reason the Opana was in short supply was to do to the fact that the manufacturer was reformulating the tablets to help prevent abuse. However, they have recently become available again, so you should be able to find them ...

I am disabled with lupus and PAC. I was taking oxycodone 10-325 one 4x a day with excellent results. My pain mgmt dr changed me to oxymorphone er 10mg with oxycodone one 2x day for breakthrough. I am having constant pain and have been on oxymorphone for two days. How long until it takes effect? I'm miserable. ## What is the current dose you are taking of the Oxycodone?
